Hello Tracy, Your garden moves me to 'tears'. It is so gorgeous, the colors I love, and the use of hydrangeas, etc. Is out of this world. Do you have floral experience? Combination of color, space, textures, heights, everything looks so professional! I certainly will keep watching your 'videos'. If you have not had alot of experience, then its "a gift from God". Please keep creating! Thank You, Laurene

Caterpillars vs Earwigs - I'm not sure but when the caterpillars were around I would find them on my Hydrangea but oddly they were never chewing. Now that the resent rains have really brought the earwigs out there is munching damage. I just baited for them yesterday. Lots this year compared to last few years. Thank you for this peaceful tour while I have my coffee. Really appreciate you putting the names on the screen.

Tracy, again, another beauty overload!!! Your eye and composition in the garden is absolutely incredible. While it is a small garden, it is lush, abundant, and prolific...a real feast for the eye and soul. When was this filmed, everything still looks so great? My poor garden is packed also, but A LOT of things have bloomed out and withered because of our oppressive heat and humidity in coastal Virginia zone 8a. I was pausing the video and taking notes the entire time. I love it, thanks for sharing.

Hi Tracy, happy Sunday! All your plants are at its magical stage! Gorgeous! When you say a plant is west in your garden do you mean that it receives the west sun or the east sun? Thanks. All your hydrangeas are so much further ahead than mine! 🌸❤️🇨🇦

Hi Eileen, Plants on the east side of the back garden gets sun coming from the east side (morning sun) are a little ahead of the same plants on the other side. I think hydrangeas like full sun (but morning). It’s funny how hydrangeas are at various different stages - even those on our streets. I was in Vaughan last week and many hydrangeas there were already blooming. Whereas the plants in my harden have just started recently. Happy gardening Eileen!

@TracysHomeGarden
@TracysHomeGarden 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Joy, I added a little bit of slow release to the baskets and feed them with water soluble fertilizer every 7-10 days. They are usually even better looking….(I think)….the constant rain we have been getting is making them a little leggy. Happy gardening! 💚🙏🪴

Stunning! I would love to see how gardens like this evolve. What do you fertilize with, and how often?
@TracysHomeGarden
@TracysHomeGarden 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Joyce. I only fertilize annuals - a little of slow release fertilizer at planting & soluble fertilizer every 7-10 days or so. The other plants that I fertilize are roses and clematis - during spring & at the end of the first flush. All hydrangeas get is a cup or so of used coffee ground or compost every spring and fall. The other perennials like salvias and daisies, may get a handful of compost every spring. I also mulch my garden beds so that also acts as a slow “release fertilizer”. The garden is about 4 years old.

Hi Tracy, Such a beautiful garden! I am in zone 3 (Winnipeg) and have recently purchased my first hydrangeas and was wondering if you could suggest the best orientation to plant them. We live on a property where there is full sun all day. Or I have a gazebo where I could plant them on the north side where they would receive sun for a few hours in the morning and a few hours in the evening. I have a limelight, three firelight tidbits, two little quick fires, and two bloomstruck hydrangeas. Your garden of hydrangeas is my goal!! Thanks!
@TracysHomeGarden
@TracysHomeGarden 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Lindsay, In zone 3, the Bloomstruck may have a lot of winter dieback. With the shorter growing season, you may not get them to rebloom from new wood….so I would definitely plant these somewhere they get a lot of morning sun and and well protected from the colder winter…somewhere close to the foundation of the house for some extra radiant heat….or you can purchase one of the covers to cover the plant after the first frost. You can uncover them in spring…just so that you can protect some of the blooms on old wood. The panicle hydrangeas like Fire Light Tidbit and Lime Light will prefer more sun. They can do okay with 4’hours of sunlight but the more sun they get the better they will bloom. I hope that helps. Happy gardening Lindsay! 💚🙏🪴

Thank you Lijuan! The Garden is about 4 years old. Many plants are about 2-4 years old - some are younger as I do a lot of dividing to get them to fill in all the spaces in the garden. Beautiful! Just wondering how you are you treating your chlorosis problem?
@TracysHomeGarden
@TracysHomeGarden 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Julie. I treated my Fire Light with a few tablespoons of garden sulfur and a cup of used coffee grounds. Both of these will help to acidify the soil long term. Last year I had a little bit of chlorosis on my Quick Fire standard (you may be able to see it in my videos last year 2020). I treated the Quick Fire with the same amount of garden sulfur and used coffee grounds in the fall of 2020 - it is now doing okay. The Fire Light now has leaves on the top of the branches - they are green (although the leaves below them are still showing yellow chlorosis)…so that means it is doing okay. This fall I’m planning on treating it again and it should be okay next spring. Hope that helps! 💚🪴💚

Tracy your garden is stunning! I've added several hydrangeas in the past year. I have a question regarding standard hydrangeas. Do their trunks ever grow in height? What I thought was a 6ft hydrangea turned out to be 4.5ft tall after planting in ground. While the branches grow, I was hoping the trunk would extend up a bit over the year in height and width to sustain all that top growth. Your thoughts?
@TracysHomeGarden
@TracysHomeGarden 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much 😊 The trunk will not grow taller; however, the canopy will send out stems that will make the overall tree taller - reaching it’s max height of 6-8 ft. That is why when in the videos tutorial where I showed how I make hydrangeas trees, I recommend selecting the longest branch possible - as the stem (becomes the trunk) will not grow taller. Happy gardening! 💚🙏🪴

Hello Tracy ,your garden is glorious , what is the size of your back garden you have a lot of plants trying to figure out how to get similar effect in my garden. Also love you pavers what stones are these do you know ? Thanks
@TracysHomeGarden
@TracysHomeGarden 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Maria, I believe the brand is Unilock. I don’t think they carry the same stone we chose any more. unilock.com/request-a-catalog/?gclid=Cj0KCQjwxdSHBhCdARIsAG6zhlWA_ph2JG3RbmY5JQLYYPjvVOEEZwFvUGQimcFK6d6Z2vDrevNk2ZQaAsrnEALw_wcB You can use the link attached to order a catalogue. The stone similar to what we have is called Windermere - Cliffside Grey. They also have a smooth non-texture stone as an option as well. If you are planning on doing your driveway - I don’t recommend using this textured stone surface as it’s hard to clear the snow using the machine. Our lot is only 40 ft wide and I have the garden spaced out 5 ft….which I regret as I think if I had to redo the garden - I would make it 6 ft. Another 1 ft would definitely give me enough room to space out some of the plants. All the best! 💚🙏🪴

The Blue Jangles actually get full sun 6+hours. The best place to plant them is in a location where they get full morning sun. Mine get so much afternoon sun that the foliage burns a little bit. I’m just lucky as our July has been rainy and overcast for the last two weeks so they are still looking lush. Was yours just planted last year? It could be that it had more winter dieback and few blooms from old wood had survive. Give it another year to get well rooted in before you decide to transplant it. Sometimes a plant needs 1-2 years to get properly grown into the space and bloom well. 💚🙏🪴

They are all varieties not from Proven Winners. If you are in Canada - you may recognize them as they are varieties I got from Canadian Tires. 💚

Hello I'm Bonny and live in your zone area. I'm looking for a hydrangea to grow behind my peonies that is full sun most of the day. Which one would you suggest. Love watching your videos!

Hi Bonny, How much space do you have and how tall would you like the plant to be? Do you prefer the cone like flowers? Lace caps? Colours and size of blooms? Early - mid - or late summer blooming? What about fall interest? 😁 Too many questions….but necessary to pick a perfect hydrangeas for the space.

It's along back of my fence line. Probably 5-6 ft. I'm debating Incrediball or Little lime or if I should go taller.

@@TracysHomeGarden About 6ft tall. I have Annabelle now. I'm thinking white or pink. Early to mid-summer. I usually have garden tours around the end of June or early July. I have several spaces empty along the fence. I'm revamping an old 30 year old perennial bed. Hydrangeas are new to me. i worry about width and hardiness mostly.

Do you have another tree near by? If you already have trees then I say to go lower but without any other trees you should go for something that 6-8 ft tall. It will anchor the space better against all the boards of the fence. Also, how tall the hydrangeas get will also be affected by our growing zone. Hydrangeas in warmer southern garden zones 6/7/8 will definitely grow taller and bigger than our noerthern 4/5/6 zones. Incrediball are nice but they get somewhat floppy and I don’t think the growth habit will be nice next to peonies plants (which are already floppy in nature).

@@TracysHomeGarden it’s just that I have to listen with headphones and when the music hits that hard note it makes me grit my teeth. Lol … It’s pretty with out that hard note. Your garden is my favorite. Hydrangeas bloom is July and August what do you do for color in the Spring? I think your garden as it is now, is hues of green with predominance of white bloom and low pink blooms.

@@teresaharless5756 For the last 5 years, I planted over 700+ tulip bulbs in the ground for early spring blooms (before the salvias bloom). The tulips varieties I like don't seem to come back very well for me. I only got some to come back and I can't seem to figure out why. This year, I planted some rock cress from seeds in the back garden (planted them in one of my recent videos) for April/May blooms. In the front garden I planted some primrose and English daisies as well for early blooms. They are being eaten up by the pill bugs (so not sure if they will survive to come back for me next spring). I'm also going to place some tulips in my cold room through the winter and plant them in containers come late winter for spring blooms.
