Louis' girlfriend Ophelia was played by Jamie Lee Curtis who comes from Hollywood royality. Her father is actor Tony Curtis and her mother (Janet Leigh) starred in Alfred Hitchock's classic 'Psycho' (1960) where she was casted in the infamous shower scene. Far as Jaime Lee Curtis, she had made her film debut five years prior to 'Trading Places' . Since Halloween is coming up, you two should react to Jaime Lee Curtis' film debut in the horror classic 'Halloween' (1978) The Halloween franchise is still beloved til this day and Curtis had portrayed her role once again in 2022.

1. The booking officer is Frank Oz. (various Muppets/Yoda) 2. Beeks/Paul Gleason also played Richard Vernon in "The Breakfast Club" and the idiot police captain in "Die Hard". 😇 3. Landis didn't want Jamie Lee Curtis because she had always been a "scream queen" and he didn't know if she had the chops for comedy. 4. When everyone pauses in the restaurant it's a play on the old "EF Hutton" commercial. "When EF Hutton speaks everybody listens". 5. One of the most VHS pauses in history. Jamie Lee Curtis.😍🥰😋 6. GOOF: Where did Louis get the gun AND all those drugs for only $50?🤑Even in 1983. 7. Don Ameche's strong religious convictions made him uncomfortable with swearing. This proved to be a problem for the scene at the end of the movie, where he had to shout out "Fuck him!" to a group of Wall Street executives. When he did act out the scene, it had to be done in one take, because Ameche refused to do a second one. He also had an issue with the N word. 8. There's an Easter egg in "Coming to America" with the Duke brothers. Eddie Murphy at his best.

Weed saved the day. Think about it, if Valentine doesn't keep the joint, he doesn't go to the bathroom and thus, is not aware of the Duke's plan.

Here is what they made at the end: 122 cents/pound - 38 cents/pound) * 15000 pounds/contract (how much each contract is worth) * 20000 contracts (how many contracts they sold) = $252,000,000. That may not be exact, but relatively close. It's not really said in the movie, but with what they had from what they had from the suitcase they swiped from Beeks on the train, to the money the dukes gave the fake Beeks in the garage (Valentine), from Coleman and Ophelia's savings, and Withorpe and Valentine's investments, you figure it's a few hundred thousand they put in. So that few hundred thousand turned into around a quarter billion.

14:05 Didn't feel sorry for Winthrope.. He was awful quick to accuse Billy Ray of robbery and get him arrested, So for the rest of his life he'll remember how it felt to be treated likewise. Actually, good lessons for everyone..Billy Ray learned when you have $$, fake freinds come out of the woodwork, The Dukes learned playing with people's lives will come back to bite ya, And Beeks learned the hard way ( Pun intended) it's not OK to be mean to animals...YEAH!!

Through much of the movie, Winthorpe thought that Billy Ray set him up and took everything away from him. However, when Billy Ray was able to tell him that the Duke Brothers were responsible for destroying him and Coleman and Ophelia confirmed it, Winthorpe began to see Billy Ray and the Duke Brothers in a totally different way.

*Fun fact: The Dukes are what Americans call "Old Money"* and among stock traders were called the "masters of the universe." These are the guys whose ancestors came from England before the American revolution and owned ALL of the land in America. And got super rich selling that land to basically everyone else. People who got rich from starting corporations are called "New Money."

The "S-car go" which is driven by a snail is a pun on "escargot," the French word for "snail," which is pronounced the same way as S-car go. The drunken baggage handlers on the train were played by comedy duo Al Franken and Tom Davis. Franken was a United States Senator for a time. He is still active in politics. Davis wrote sketches for Saturday Night Live among others. He passed away in 2012.

Funfact: Back in the 80's what Valentine and Winthorpe did was not illegal, because this were public informations anyway. It also contained a little something called the “Eddie Murphy Rule.” In Section 746 of Dodd-Frank Act, under the Eddie Murphy Rule, it finally became illegal to use non-public information from agencies like the U.S. Treasury, Federal Reserve and Department of Agriculture to trade in the futures market. And real brokers explained inflation-adjusted, Winthorpe and Valentine made about 26 mio $ in the end, if i remember it correctley.
