Well done fellas; the future of Australia is in good hands when two young blokes pay homage to our ancestors and live our history. Very well made and entertaining as well. Subscribed and liked.

I like the historical flavor. That’s how I’ve been doing it for decades, though I’ve softened up recently with my age. Cheers from southwestern US.

Enjoyed that fellas. I've been thinking about doing the same thing for quite a while. Good thing getting back in touch with our descendants, and the way they did things early on out in the bush.

Love your video guys. I’m 63 and I love bush craft and camping, but wrapping yourself up like that in a swag might be alright for you youngens but when you got a get up 3 times through the night for a piss you wan’t something you can escape from Buick smart and in a hurry.

Great video fellas. Would be good to see short vid on your swagman kit, history and where you got some items, bottle , knife. Should try a canvas water bag, is acquired taste (used one in shearing sheds for a few years).

A lot of swaggies packs were just a sack, with a stone in each bottom corner, a piece of rope tied around each corner stone, and looped around the top. It works a treat.

Not sure what steel you used for the knife.... But generally bone is known to be super hard on knife blades... Some of the knife channels use bone chops in destruction tests..... So your chip or roll the knife took isn't a huge surprise Great vid boys
@bantics7743
@bantics7743 Жыл бұрын
I used just standard 1080 high carbon tool steel. I was going at the bone pretty hard for like 8-10 strikes with a baton so in hindsight not surprised it chipped the blade, didn’t realise how strong bone was hahaha

Jolly good. When you work blade steel the final step before commissioning the the blade is to reset the temper in the blade. This is done by controlled heating while observing the color of the steel and then quenching. You may have broken the temper by too much grinding. Nice bit of work but with no temper it died an early death.

Best thing to do is find a NP and track beside it following rivers and creeks. Each state is different with the camping laws though.

If ur an Aussie look for state forests. Similar to national parks but less managed; ie worse roads less amenities, but you can camp wherever you like, within reason obviously.

Just a respectful word of caution / warning. The spinning of the billy tea has caused 3rd degree burns on children and folks and is not good. Please don't encourage this, its completely unnecessary tea leaves naturally sink to the bottom, just sit the billy to one side once boiled like a tea pot or a gentle swirl and let it sit. It only takes one weakly built / bought billy to break mid spin send scalding hot water into the camp and wrecking the whole show. Beware gentlemen, otherwise the vid and concept is excellent. Congratulations and the one piece underwear is on point !!
