The Portland Trail Blazers are reportedly holding firm in Jerami Grant trade talks with the Los Angeles Lakers. Joe Cronin and the Blazer front office are reportedly demanding at least two first round pick in the #NBADraft before entertaining any trades. Will anyone take them up on the offer?

Portland hasn't made a deal with the Lakers since 1980 when they sent forward Jim Brewer for a draft pick that was used to pick Jerome Kersey. I could be wrong, but I don't see that changing with Jerami Grant. For sure the Blazers should think about moving some combination of Grant, Williams, Simons or Thybulle at some point in the next year, but they don't need to imminently. The Blazers need to thinlk more deeply about their coaching situation first.

Well if they give trash like Gabe Vincent it does..if its rui a 1st and dlo to a 3rd team for Portland to get another 1st, yes it does.

Yo! I sent that question in! That's so awesome they took it even if it was a hard no 👎😅 My reasoning with Austin Reaves, though, was as a player the Blazers could flip for more picks, not someone to keep.

Don’t think POR has made a trade with LAL since the Kersey deal.

When teams get close to the playoff's and are looking for that final piece to get them over the hump is when Grants value will skyrocket. Same with Thybulle.

In the meantime Grant is taking minutes from the forwards that we need to develop and with our luck will get injured destroying his trade value.

If the Blazers do not trade anyone this offseason, they will become dangerously close to being a decent team next season and picking outside of the lottery.
@metal--babble346

The Blazers GM cheats, benches star players, and tries to lose on purpose. There will be plenty of losses to get a better ping pong ball.
@RonnieLeeDuck
@RonnieLeeDuck 27 күн бұрын
@@metal--babble346 I can easily see that happening. Yet, if the Blazers really wanted to suck next season you would have thought they would have used their draft picks to pick a couple very raw 19 y/os with a lot of upside. Instead, they drafted Clingan who is relatively mature and is ready to provide quality minutes right away. Then they traded for Deni who is just now entering his prime. Let's just say they have work to do to be really bad next season. I think it highly likely trades of the veterans will happen soon. But if they don't, the Blazers may have to resort to putting players on the IR because they have a hangnail.

I would really hate to see Blazers have to bench their veterans they didn't move so that they can lose more games. Seeing a bunch of solid players disgruntled on the bench wasn't a good look ahead of the '23 draft and it won't be good this year either. Just trade them and let the young guys struggle. It'll be better for them long term anyway.

@@rileymcphee9429 Agreed. To win, you have to develop a culture of winning. It's not just about talent. Otherwise, you risk becoming like the Detroit Pistons franchise where you are always in the lottery because nobody knows how to be a winning team in the NBA. I fully expect multiple trades of veterans to happen this offseason or at least before the trade deadline.
@rileymcphee9429

@RonnieLeeDuck personally, I think the Pistons are our perfect trade partner. Trade them Ayton, Grant, and whoever else they want and take every pick they got. That franchise has no idea what they're doing; fleece em while you can!

How is there no urgency to trade Grant? If he stays and they play him, he is taking minutes from the players we need to develop and we run the risk of injury . If he stays and we don't play him, the risk is acquiring or perpetuating the "when healthy" label further reducing his trade value. Not to mention his cap impact is significant. As a fan of the team, I hate watching tanking. I can stand by a team that is putting in the work to develop young players and as a result loses a lot of games. But playing someone as talented and out of synch age wise with the core as Grant to still win under 20 games is NOT development, it is wasted development time. It is also wasting the prime years of Grant's career. Besides if we are trading for a 2029 first round pick with a team whose best players are all over 30 in 2024 and has very limited cap flexibility sounds like a pretty solid pick to own.

And that is the more interesting unknown in this equation. Does Grant even want to play with LBJ. Traditionally 3rd option players in LBJ teams take a career nose dive look to Chris Bosh and Kevin Love. How did playing with LBJ impact their earning potential? I can see Grant saying he is not interested in playing with the Lakers for that reason alone.

Having Grant and Deni as the two wing starters makes the Blazers a solid team in my opinion. Thier games will not only complement each other but also help space the floor for Scoot and having another solid ball handler in Deni will help Ant during double teams. I hope we see what the team at full strength can do before any significant trades are done.

The Fail Blazers will never change. They keep making the same mistakes over and over again. They overvalue mediocre talent and their own players (same thing). They then hang onto to them too long. They overpay them (typically for past performance or to keep them in Portland) or they let them walk for NOTHING. Alternatively they give them away in stupid trades. It’s called digging a hole. Every move they make reenforces the problem. They can’t help themselves. They’re inept. The NBA has WINNERS and LOSERS. The Blazers are LOSERS. Until the team is sold and the entire executive and management teams are replaced NOTHING WILL CHANGE. The reality is Portland cannot attract free agents or make competent trades. Their only chance at landing potential star players are to draft them. Trading away the 14th pick this year was another bonehead move. No young players on the team other than Scoot, Sharpe and Camara are worth more than that pick. Deni A. has been a journeyman player on a bad team. Yes he still has upside but not more than whoever they could’ve drafted at fourteen (Ware for example). They gave away Brogdan on that deal. Watch Washington flip him for a FRP. That trade could’ve been made for less. Then they just sold their second round picks to resign long time 2 way guys. Holding onto bench scrubs that haven’t produced is the Blazers cardinal sin. Cronin will eventually piss away every asset received for Lillard. Hey Cronin … when you’re in a hole … STOP DIGGING.
