Fun fact: Andrew He has now defeated two Tournament of Champions winners, Amy Schneider and Dan Pawson. This is also Andrew's second lock tie game. The first was his 4th game when he played against Molly Karol.

I definitely hope it's true that this is the last tournament for several months. Don't get me wrong, a lot of them have been fun and exciting, but even still we've literally been at this for many months now and I am DYING to see regular gameplay again. I never thought I would say that, but man... I'm just burned out on this constant string of tournaments LOL.

It used to be exciting when they did a tournament. They’ve beaten the tournament thing to death.

I think it has something to do with the writers' strike and them using recycled clues that didn't make it on air the first time around. I also believe that since this is the show's 40th season (which is a big milestone), they wanted to bring back all the champions from years and even decades ago as a culmination of the show's history and as a testament to the show's institutionalization. Alex would definitely be proud of how far it's come!

@@scottleung9587. Some of those earlier tournaments had to do with the writer’s strike, but not the recent ones. Michael Davies repeatedly says he wants Jeopardy to be like a sport. He wants to have Jeopardy stars who are like sports all stars. I like Amy and Andrew, but do we really want to see them play in three tournaments within a years? He’s beating this to death.

I had no idea - for some reason, I thought this person was associated with civil rights (hence the year 1968) but I didn't think about what the US did in space on Christmas Eve of that year until it was too late. Anyway, congrats Andrew!

@@husker16She won the College Championship in 2000 when she was a junior, so presumably about 44. This is also the first tournament she's ever played in where she didn't make it to the semifinals or finals; she was in her Tournament of Champions, the Battle of the Decades, the All-Star Games, and she was one win away from playing Ken and Brad in the finals of the Ultimate Tournament of Champions in 2005.

Great game today. I will say this: honestly I think most players in the Jeopardy Invitational Tournament who haven’t appeared on the show in the post-James Holzhauer era like Arthur Chu are going to be at a disadvantage to those who have like Andrew He. Jeopardy is a completely different game now, and optimal strategy has changed. Andrew He will not be an easy opponent to take down in the semifinals given his aggressive Daily Double bets and the fact that he participated during the post-Holzhauer era.
@NickTheEnlightened
@NickTheEnlightened Ай бұрын
Yeah, I pretty much agree. Plus there's also the fact too that since a lot of these players haven't been on Jeopardy in a long time, their buzzer skills are undoubtedly gonna be quite rusty and their recall ability probably not as slick as it once might've been when they were younger. Dan Pawson I think was a notable example of this tonight; you could certainly tell he had a hard time getting back into the groove of things after 10 years away from the show.
