As always I enjoy your videos. I have one of those wheel bearing packers. They work great. I’ve had it since the late 80’s working at Chrysler dealership. Next time you use it try putting the small bearing on top of the inner bearing and pack both at same time. Sometimes outer bearing is too large to do this. Also I never put extra grease in the hub between the bearings because it will never get into the bearings. That grease will always just stay there and get hard. Although I can see putting extra grease in boat trailers if by chance bearing gets hot and put you down. You have extra grease to help you get home. But proper maintenance that wouldn’t happen. The older guy’s always saying I should put grease in hub. Always ask them look at that extra grease and tell me what it looks like after 20,000 miles It’s still in the same place and hard. 40 years retired now and never had a failed bearing if properly maintained. I’m learning a lot from you. I know nothing about boats. But the in-line 4 & 6 GM engine I know very well

If you remove the outer bearing and put the nut back on the spindle, you can use the nut to pull the inner bearing and seal off without damaging the seal.

Great work Michael. Don’t want to dwell on a previous video regarding the trailer’s tongue. Some are concerned about the tube length and flex. Longer the tube the greater deflection of the tube. What you may have considered is the use of 4 to 6 in 90 degree stand offs mid way along the length of tube tied by flat stock end to end of tube. This would significantly reduce the trailer’s tongue tube flex. I would only suggest the bracing be used on the underside of the tongue as you always want the topside of the tongue to be free of obstructions. If you really go crazy you can also brace the port and starboard side of the trailer’s tongue just to put all those doubters out there to bed. One last thing hydraulic brakes are by far the wisest choice for water environments. Having components that are mechanical versus electrical in a marine environment are a no brainer for anyone who has to chase down intermittent grounds. Stay the course and have fun. Mike

hey Michael, just one point, In my experience (been packing and replacing shelled out bearnigs for 50 years just pack the bearings themselves dont put all that extra grease in the hub itdoest do a thing except in extreme cases melt and run out after the damage is already done.Excellent information and thanks for the chanell I am a loyal watcher.

Really enjoyed this longer video Yes Sir it’s been a big project but it is coming along nicely the blue painted bolts is a nice tie in to Big Blue and like the rollers . Just the few minutes seeing Big Blue seating on it really goes well together. Keep working on Big Blue as long as you can till cold weather hits then ya can work on the outboards. Ear buds does do sound dampening but I believe I like ya old mic cause I like the sound of tools but that’s just me . We been enjoying both of ya channels. I was thinking the trailer was gonna weigh more than it did but I believe after adding the winch and guide post it’s gonna be about 925 lbs ( ? About guide post are you gonna build your on or buy the bolt ons ) .. As Always Sir thanks for the ride along and Keep’em coming.. 👍👍👍👍

the sound from the raycons sounds more like a phonecall, more compressed although the "noise cancellation" is nice when there's ambiant noise. If that's good with wind, it will be nice when on a boat. I still prefer the mic from the gopro, or your previous microphone that you used.

Michael this was a great video, your sound quality was very good I thought. I also like what you said about maintaining your bearings. I have used bearing buddies tied with maintenance every season and I do use the water prof grease, the bearing buddies will help with greasing between trips but I don't overload it so the back seal will not blow and before I put my boat in the water I set up my boat to let the bearings cool off before I go into the water. I am looking forward to seeing how you adgust the rollers and the bunks. The trailer looks great. Could you also correct the link for the wheel bearing packer? Keep up the great work. Thanks, Tim

Have you tried "Green Grease"? I love it on my boat trailer. Has been a better grease than anything else I've tried so far as it doesn't wash away and repeals water. It was designed to be used in heavy construction equipment that is used in environments where the bearings will be submerged in standing water for prolonged periods of time. I know several mechanics that swear by the stuff. Only downside is that it stinks to high heavens.

Man, I enjoy your channel---there is alot of knowledge in your brain. I was wondering if I could pick your brain on 1 problem I have with a Coleman Powermate 10hp generator. Long story shortened as much as possible. 3 or 4 years ago the carb had set-up with gas and and carb was to bad to fix so I decoded to order another carb but that day My brother in law found me a like new one for cheap A Generac GP 6500, so I put the power-mat in storage. After it has set-up this long I ordered a carb which came in today. Put it on with new gas line, new cutoff valve and gromet under big tank. It cranked on first pull, purred like a kitten with 2,000 watt load, 2 to 3 minutes it made the sound of running out of fuel, Gave it a minute and it cranked right up, run good for about 1 to 2 minutes. I checked cut off valve, vent hole in gas cap, even hooked a smaller fuel tank that has no cut off valve--went straight to the carb with different hose. Same thing, but this time when it was about to cut off I decided to hit the choke(had not tried that before) a second which cleared it up for a few seconds, then it cut off---the longer I let it set up to about 2 to 3 minutes the longer it will run, for up to 2 or so minutes. I feel sure I have a fuel restriction before the bowl, so my plan in the morning is to remove the carb and look a restriction to the float/bowl. Again it runs perfect until it runs out of fuel? Did I miss something?? Thanks for your help.

was it the float in the carb? or bad fuel pump?
@realcountryman47
@realcountryman47 8 ай бұрын
The carb was new, but i guess during shipping or?? The little wire clip for the float needle was not on the float clip, but behind it---meaning when I had the carb off and upside down--I gently lifted the float the needle stayed in the hole so it was not opening enough to allow enough gas in for it to continue running----run about 2 or so minutes perfect then run out of gas. Put it where it was suppose to be and then ran it for about 20/25 minutes with no problem.
