Trailmater Offroad Recovery

Trailmater Offroad Recovery

7 ай бұрын

We got a call from a group that was in town running trails. They were running up Poison Spider Trail, onto Golden Spike when they had one SxS lost a belt. When the belt went out a piece of the belt got tangled up and damaged the seal on the engine and was leaking oil, so they parked it. The group continued on heading towards Gold Bar Rim Trail when the guy riding the 4 wheeler rolled it and the cop roll panel on the handlebars was damaged and it wouldn't run. So the following day we went in up Poison Spider to get the SxS first. After getting it down and loaded onto one of their trailers, we then circled around to Gold Bar Rim and came in that way to get the 4 wheeler. Everything went pretty smooth and it was way easier to use the trailer to get both vehicles then to try pulling one out on a strap and chance injuring either a person or the vehicle any further. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

many won't recognize that but Rorys statement "EVERYTHING BREAKES, SO PICK THE THINGS THAT ARE EASY TO WORK ON" is one of the wisest advices one can give to off-roaders.

Trail Mater is an absolute beast of a rig. But that is only half of the equation. You have to be a very competent driver to pilot such a rig. Rory is the man and he proves it on every recovery, along with Mike and Sean. I think this team has pretty much got all the bases covered. Of course it helps being located in one of the most beautiful places on earth. Keep up the good work guys and thanks again for letting us ride along.

Several years ago I spent a week in Moab with my Polaris Sportsman 500. I went on all of the trails in this video. I loved it!!!!!! I don't remember the trail names very well, but I think that it was Kane Creek, but I could be mistaken, anyway, I did have to use my winch, because it was just to high straight up. I used a Jeep bumper to hook up to. One day my friends went on a trail that I did not go on, I don't remember why I did not go with them, but I went out alone. I found a group of 3 Jeeps, and asked them if I could ride with them, because I did not like riding alone in such rugged terrain. They said "sure," so I rode with them for the day. They had never seen anyone ride a Quad is terrain like we were in, and they were surprised that I had no trouble. There were only 2 places that I had to winch, but that is ok, that is why I have the winch. LOL I really want to go again, but I have to think a little bit about it, because I am 76 years old. I still love going in challenging terrain. I always have, even with my dirt bike. My Girl Friend would freak out if I took her into places like Moab. I still ride alone up here in Idaho, BUT, I also always have my PLB with me. (Personal Locater Beacon) I ride the 50" trails up here with my Polaris 570 Trail, and my 900 RZR Trail. When I have my G/F with me in the RZR, I have to choose the trails carefully. LOL But she enjoys it. I have taken her into places with my quads that she was just astounded at how beautiful they were. I just got the RZR, and have only taken it out a couple of times, so next spring we can hit the trails hard!!! I simply amazes me that people like me are proud of the fact that I can make it up a rough trail, and here is Rory going up the same trail pulling a trailer loaded up with a broken machine. I have MAD respect for that whole crew.

It still amazes me that you can get any traction on some of those slick polished rock especially when it has just a little sand or water on them or on your tires. It just proves that you know both what you are doing and what your rigs can and can't do.

It might look polished like how granite type rock gets but the sandstone rock stays porous. That’s just rubber in the pores. It’s crazy traction

The Poison Spider Trail is just one example of how much rougher Moab's Trails have become through the years. Back in the early 80's, I could easily make it all the way to The Waterfall in 2WD in my Scrambler. Now you need 4WD shortly after leaving the parking lot. Always enjoy watching your videos and techniques.

I managed to get my Pathfinder on 32's up to the S-turn waterfall in October but decided against going up it. It was an accomplishment even making it up the first big rock wall and I will take it. 😅

You'll notice I said "easily." All of the ledges before The Waterfall used to be pretty much buried...or were maybe half the size of a typical street curb. The obstacles prior to The Waterfall were created, in large part, by inept drivers who think the throttle is the answer to conquering any obstacle.
