Trail Mater

Жыл бұрын

We received a call about 2 vehicles broke out on The Hole In The Rock Trail. After doing some research and waiting on a confirmation call from the customers we found it was a very remote trail south of Lake Powell. Once we got a call from the customers and got an idea of what was broke and what we needed to take with us we loaded up Ol Blue and the JK on the trailer. We headed out early in the morning. We met the customers at the trailhead, which was 2.5 hours away from Moab. We unloaded the recovery rigs and headed in. Once we got to the first rig we trail repaired it and got it up the ledge it had broke on. After that we proceeded in to the next rig and repaired it. Then we drove back out and got to the trailer in the rain. Once we got back to the shop it had been exactly 20 hours since we had left the shop. It was definitely a long one but was a perfect test for the new wrecker and it passed with flying colors. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

The old pioneers get a lot of credit for cutting those passes into the rock side but what is more impressive is that they used trained diamond billed rock peckers.

I mentioned Diamond Billed Rock Peckers at work last week, and got the expected " what are you talking about " reaction. So the lady at the desk googled it, and came up with an image of a Save the Diamond Billed Rock Pecker t-shirt. She still didn't look convinced that I wasn't making stuff up, but the image of the t-shirt on Google cast just enough doubt in her mind that she didn't call me out on the matter. Thought I was had for a few minutes there. So Thank you Rory, for creating and selling those t-shirts. And also Thanks to whoever posted that picture online which ended up on Google.

The reasons why this video is even more amazing than usual: - the sheer endurance - the incredible land- and cloudscape - the ride out in total darkness - the amount of tools destroyed

I would call that 5 wins. Two on trail repairs, Ol' Blue showing what she can do. Finding out just how hard you can push two ratchets to the point of too far. (ooopsie). I can't say that was "All in a days work" because that was 2-1/2 eight hour days worth of work. Well done. If only you could have celebrated by stealing a Mountain Dew from another YTers frig.

I love this Rory takes Blue into the desert and Mater gets a rest and Blue performed admirably! Even Mater has it tough on the "waterfall" Blue struggled but made it up! Mike and Sean are a vital part of this recovery team and two vehicles were repaired and driven out! Mike's history of the old wagon trail through the hills was awesome and exciting.

Gotta do what you gotta do. Some people just need to learn to be completely independent, if you break something you gotta be able to fix it in a capacity to limp it back. If you get stuck you get yourself out. When you spend enough time out in the woods anything can happen. I've hiked 20+ miles back to my cabin after my mud buggy broke down. Didn't have any toe nails left by the time I got back to the cabin.
