Great film Brad. So glad to see you in Michigan where the Jeep was born. My Uncle, Red Hausmann was a test driver for the original Military Jeep project and is credited with naming the Jeep. He's the guy that drove the test vehicle up the Capitol steps. When you see some old pictures, he's usually the one driving the Jeep over obstacles and wearing a Fedora. He also took part in developing the Civilian Jeep ,1945, and arranged to extract one of the original prototype chassis, serial number 003, from the factory for my Dad. Dad put a new body on it and it remains in the family ever since. I grew up driving that jeep in the woods back in the 50's when I was in grade school. My Dad, Eugene Hausmann, also worked at a Willys Overland offshoot that customized jeeps for Military Ambulances during the war. He was a Body Man. Always enjoy your videos. Chuck Hausmann

I love watching vehicle manufacturing videos, especially regarding the differences in levels of automation between large production facilities and boutique manufacturers. For those of us who grew up with and love Jeeps, this was especially fun to see. It was also cool, and understandable, to see how emotional the experience was for you. 😊 The footage of the giant robots at the beginning of the video made me think of visiting dinosaur exhibitions in museums as a kid, except these guys were alive (and highly domesticated)!

Jeep runs in our family and we owned from CJ2s and a Jeep Willys Station Wagon (1959) that was manufactured in Toledo! This last one has AZ plates. Please continue your wonderful work showing us these magnificent American vehicles and the beautiful places that you off-road.

No absolutely not . But human beings not being infallible make mistakes , and when you are making hundreds of thousands of vehicles and the line moving 24/7 stuff does slip by , and this is true of all makes all factories.

Thank you for your video - great job. Back "in the day", both my wife and I worked for suppliers for the new Saturn plant in Spring Hill, TN. She in particular had access to the entire site and seeing your video brought back many memories of the best time of her career. She stated that in that role, she felt complete pride in her role of producing a quality product for customers both on the shop floor and ultimately on the roads. You mentioned the coordination of components needed to build the vehicles which is also an amazing process, maintaining enough supply to make the production process hum without creating an overabundance of inventory. I don't know the production rates in Toledo but would be willing to bet that the on-site supply is probably equal to a couple of hours of production, not days or weeks worth. I would invite you to visit other production facilities when you can and report on them - American manufacturing is an amazing process that consumers should see.

I live a few miles from the Spring Hill plant. It’s going to be twice the size, well it kind of already is. They added a battery plant and an EV plant and it should be operational 2024 or 2025. And my neighbor works there. What I’ve heard from him, I’ll never buy a GM made product.

The plant sure didn't look like that when my CJ rolled off the line. That's impressive to see the components and major assemblies separately. Carmakers have extracted every little bit of efficiency out of the build process. I saw people riding bikes around and it's nice to see the American flag at the end of the assembly line. It's about time Jeep really got on the factory custom market. Those accessories are relatively cheap to built but have big profit margins.
