As an American, I was hoping to see European EMUs like the Class 313, Class 315, and Class 455 on US soil. Sadly I don't think that'll ever happen since the US and Europe use different gauges.

scripting might be a factor, but the 390 is a proper European high speed train when it comes down to it. the 801 isn't, so I think the 390 would still win

I always thought the Hitachi Azuma fleet had a higher power/weight ratio than the Alstom Pendolino, I wonder if it is the AP scripting preventing a higher power output than 100%.

Irl an 801 would out run a 390 and the 390 will be begging for an asthma pump by the time it gets to 125 mph

By the way, IRL the class 80X (800, 801, 802, 803, 804, 805, 810) is much faster than the slightly older, less streamlined, and slower starting class 390. Though that's not to say the class 390 isn't fast, CAUSE ITS BLOODY FAST.

the original Railworks engine was created in 2008, the game was renamed to Train Simulator in 2010 I believe.
