train to kraków | Salt Mine Tour. In this episode we visit one of Kraków and Poland's top attractions Wieliczka Salt Mine Tour. It was time to leave Wrocław and get the train to Kraków. We are really excited to explore Kraków so please subscribe to our channel so you dont miss any of our uploads.
Visiting The Wieliczka Salt Mine is one of things to do here in Kraków and we wasted no time in taking the tour. This incredible place is highly recommended and we could definitely see why. Decending 64 meters under ground was a strange feeling, we did actually feel a little bit wobbly (we assume is down to the pressure) well we hoped it was...but never the less the experience of seeing this unique mine was fascinating.
One thing we didnt mention in the vlog was that we got the bus back to Kraków for under a euro so we would definitely recommend taking the bus to the Wieliczka Salt Mine and return bus back to Kraków. It's super easy and super affordable.
Help us reach 10k Subs by Subscribing to our channel below, it would mean the world to us if you could. thank you.

Read my above comment :) Bochnia, nearby, is the oldest from 1248, Wieliczka is deeper. Both used to be linked. Wieliczka is closer to Krakow hence more popular, I personally prefer Bochnia :) not just bcs I was born there :)

The salt mine was amazing! I love the mall in the train station. In Toronto there are stores along the platforms on the subway. Many apartment buildings and offices have elevators going from the platforms. Some people who live and work downtown never have to go outside if they dont want to. Very handy in 20 degrees below zero. Thanks for the great video.

You two are incredible! True Gems of Ireland. I've watched quite a few of your beautiful videos in Poland. Seeing all the fun you had embracing the country (and food 😅) with open arms The aid you provided to the people of Ukraine crossing into Poland is also something extremely commendable. My family is scheduled to go to Poland in the summer as my Canadian (step)son is marrying our soon to be Polish daughter in law. Being on the fence and worried about going there from Canada with what's going on, your videos have filled me with so much inspiration, ideas and hope that we can also provide even some small amount of help when we are there. Beautiful inside and out, the both of you. xo On a side note, I would love to know where you got your white backpack from Samantha. It's gorgeous 💞 Thank you!

If you are in Poland, you have to visit churches. They are mostly open through out a day and free of charge. Poland has always been very religious, thats way so much of its beauty is inside of those buildings. As you are in Kraków, you should also do a one day trip to Auschwitz, it helps to understand us as a people.

🍻🍺🥂 Mead production and consumption in Poland is a tradition that stretches back for centuries. In the Middle Ages, Poland was covered with primeval forests, which the 12th-century chronicler Gallus Anonymus described as "flowing with honey". This abundance of honey and a climate ill-suited for grape growing meant that mead was long more popular than wine. In 996, the Sephardi Jewish traveller Ibrahim ibn Yaqub wrote that "besides food, meat and land for ploughing, the country of Mieszko I abounds in mead, which is what the Slavic wines and intoxicating drinks are called".

Because of this virus, you are lucky that there are so few tourists because normally there are hell of tourists from all over the world that there is no way to put pins. Once tourists, to really find out that this mine is made of salt, they licked the walls at the entrance, but this madness was forbidden and signs were hung. I don't know if they still hang there. Best regards from Poznań.😁

30 km from home :) well, if you went about 20 minutes further to a town called Bochnia, you could visit the oldest salt mine in there. You can do overnight stays there too. And u also get further down into the Earth. In olden days, you could buy a whole village for 1 huge lump of salt (called bałwan - snowman). As for the parties, for us it is normal to have weddings, communions, proms etc underground. The funniest thing is that you drink whole night under there and you don't feel drunk until u get out to the surface. Have someone ready to scrape you out of pavement :)

I really recommend visiting Wieliczka, it's a great experience. Even the floor is made out of salt (even the one that looks like regular bricks you walk on the streets). Also, those salt bricks you walked on there are exactly same bricks Polish kings were walking on. There is a numerous amount of sculptures made out of salt. 200-700y ago, when miners were underground, they were making some of those sculptures during the breaks they had. Visiting Wieliczka is a really unique and amazing experience. Answering your question regarding salty clothes - it doesn't get salty, at least not in a meaningful way. Of course, it you would study it under the microscope or sth, I believe you would find sth., but definitely you won't notice it (I've been in Wieliczka ~5 times)

In May 2000 for the first time in the world, man flew a balloon underground. It took place exactly 125 meters below sea level, in the Staszic Chamber of the Wieliczka salt mine. The basket with the pilot rose to a height of 2 meters 15 centimeters.

That shopping centre next to the station is a well know trap - people have wandered around in there for days. The trick is to follow the signs to the exit marked Stare Miasto, ul. Lubicz - that gets you outside.

Not too many people know about it, but a few kilometers down the road there is a pepper mine. You won't find it on the map, though.

Hey guys, as long as you are in Krakow, you need to take a day trip to the concentration camps of Auschwits and Birkenau... I know you are trying to enjoy the festive times of Christmas, but it is an important chapter of history that we can't forget!!! Merry Christmas to you both...and keep making fun and enjoyable videos!!! :-)😉
