By now he'd probably got what you were teaching him with his foot movements and upper body coordination, At the time of this video he was thinking about his foot movements and not the flow. Boxing is a dance you don't think about which body part you have to move first once you have the science of martial arts understood, it's a dance playing the chess game. Fighting must be strategic while in focus. Mr Marvin Cook you are a good teacher. The first think my friend taught me before learning the art of the game is how to straight and foot movements giving me proper balance while gaining kinetic energy and also saving energy. I am not a professional fighter but can handle myself if the situation arise. I do practice and workout everyday.

Is there an upcoming video about how to incorporate your style against a much taller opponent? At the moment I bob'n'weave with tight guard to get close then stepping to the outside of my opponents fireline before throwing my combinations. This is usually working but at the same time I'll get a pretty square stance and leave a couple of openings. Any tips on how to close the gaps in a "safer" way?

Focus on strengthing your legs more along with your glutes knees ankles and feet work on strenght and stability and some plyometrics this should give you the base necessary to have legs that will be easier to spar with since it will be strong and stable and less of a hassle on your brain. Thinking expends a lot of energy so your stance awareness should come naturally before you even begin to spar.

coach is there a way to see what kind of punch does the opponent throw
@peejuu
@peejuu 3 жыл бұрын
Yes there is but it comes with experience it's better to move your feet and have your opponent in a position where the probability of him throwing a punch is a lot higher than him just being in his natural position it's like chess you have to try and set up the other guy to fail and footwork plays a huge part in this along with experience and discipline. You don't actually see punches but you kind of feel (and set him up) what a guy is about to throw especially if you follow your own game plan and ignore his.

@tinocharalambous4573
@tinocharalambous4573 3 жыл бұрын
Those fighters rely heavily on a few things and it works for them 90% of the time, against average or maybe even good competition but no world class and eventually if a fighter can take advantage of those they get exposed seen by Tyson fury when he fought deontay wilder and Daniel dubois recently
@K2ThaPhukkinC
@K2ThaPhukkinC 3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t put to much thought or energy into the anomalies. They tend to be the types where they would be where they’re at regardless of what they adopted. Case in point, imagine Deontay Wilder with both his freakish power coupled with great boxing ability/technique/form? Im not too familiar with Dubois, so I can’t speak on him.
@zachariahz
@zachariahz 3 жыл бұрын
I think the basic answer to this is that elite level boxers and up can do things that would be insane for other people to try. This is true in any sport. It doesn't change the necessity for fundamentals, it just means some people are good enough to break the rules and succeed. People always want to approach combat sport/martial arts training as if -they- have the same capabilities as the best in the world. Most of us don't, can't ever. So going deep into fundamentals is where it's at, instead of trying to reinvent the wheel based on professionals who are anomalies.

@@buzzi5644 I see, but like I was telling the other dude not everyone lives near a boxing/mma gym. You can learn by yourself but the process maybe a little slower. You’ll basically get all the training you’ll get in a boxing gym except without mitt work. I’d say buy a small mirror and put it in your room practice basic punches in your stance. Shadow box outside where ever you are. Work on side steps, half steps ect.. and find someone that knows how to fight and spar with him for a bit, and if he doesn’t know how to fight just have him throw punches at you and you just focus on defense. I’m not a boxer wizard by any means but I do know how to fight(on a basic level) but basic is good enough for me. Even at a basic lvl of boxing you’d defend yourself against the average asshole wannabe tough guy anyday.
