Can you post more videos about what the OSHP Academy is like? Something along the lines of a documentary. Things like arrival, indoctrination, classroom, driving, shooting, OVI, PT, red man drill, and finally graduation. It would be cool to see. Maybe have cadet interviews and follow the cadets throughout their training, making a point to show that people are quitting and the best cadets are rising to the top. Almost like an episode of Surviving the Cut. I would pay good money to see that.

When Michiganders cross into Ohio, no matter how fast we were driving, we slow to 65 and hit that cruise control. Nothing scarier to a Michigander than the Ohio State Troopers!

As a Michigan resident, I thank Heaven above that our troopers are more humane, both in traffic stops and raids. Thank god.......if you have drugs, our police STILL treat you with respect. These laws will continue. I REPEAT...they will continue. We do things differently here in Michigan. I have lived in BOTH states. We do things differently here in Michigan. Our officers RESPECT people.

When I was very young (up to 6 years old), I lived across the freeway from the academy. I used to watch them on the skid pad and thinking how much I wanted to do it.

I went through infantry boot camp, at Sand Hill Ft Benning in 1990. I went through OSHP academy class 136 in 2000. THAT was way harder than infantry basic...

Im nervous. Im planning on applying. Seeing comments Im wanting to apply immediately given how long it'll take for a response. Will the academy change my personality? Like make me less caring and friendly?

If you have a strong sense of who you are no you will be whoever it is you’ve always been. It will show you mostly how to adapt quickly to constant change it will also teach you or give you a sense of urgency. I served as a ohio state trooper for nearly 6 years before transferring out of the agency personal reasons. It is still one of the top elite, law-enforcement agencies, especially when it comes to fitness standards.

JBR DIESEL _mechanic True, but if you want it bad enough if won’t matter how long the wait. Took me two years to get on with my department

DIxon Bawls It’s been over two years and they didn’t even bother to get more info than the typical first contact info. I’m a vet with education, no tattoos, no crazy background, etc., and it took 3 months just for them to contact me for that basic stuff. I haven’t heard a word since, so idk what’s up. It’s not like 10k recruits are applying. It only took 6 months to get on at the Butler County Sheriffs Office(corrections).

JBR DIESEL _mechanic That’s because you’re one of thousand of applicants who apply. If you want to stand out, keep applying. If they refuse to hire you, it’s their loss. Otherwise keep applying or try to go into a different agency

JBR DIESEL _mechanic Trust me I was in your shoes almost two years ago. It sucks. I applied for a second time a day after they rejected my first application bc of how bad I wanted it. And if you ever get a chance to go before the board, give them a speech they won’t forget..

How long ago did you apply? I finished up the background investigation portion about 3 weeks ago and I took the exam in May.
