the photo of the warm cabin, forever etched in my mind when I ducked in to pick up the "Intra Coastal Waterway ". Kim had a flight out of Lauderdale in a day or two. plans change. I was at the wheel when a sail cover, blue sunbrella, lost the red patch that had been recently resewn to starboard. she's down below in the warm glow .."I'd keep going if it were up to me" it was breezy. water spouts. tornados. lightning. that patch was 30$. blew right past me. I wanted to turn around just to get it. lol. good sailing ....and fair winds. drop the hook when you should. or she can drive.

Hi Tyler, Sounds like you had a fun day on the water. It’s always nice to have a warm and cozy cabin. I bought a Flicka and I’m excited to have a cozy cabin I can stand up in! Thanks for watching my channel. David

I would love to know the demnsions of your doorway. Having a hinged door vs. a panel door seems like a much better option. Also, I need to replace the door anyway.

Good morning Derek, I love my doors instead of hatch boards. I laid my hatch boards on the plywood and traced the outline for my doors. Then I measured the width of the opening to figure out the frame, then cutout the doors. The left and right side of the frame is 1 3/4”, the bottom of the door frame is 25 1/4”. The bottom of the frame is 8 3/4”. After I cut the frame I took the cut out and divided it in half and cut to make the doors. Then I doubled the inside of the farm to make it water tight. It took a lot of figuring out as I went along. If you would like some closeup pictures I can take some for you. I need a way to send them to you, David

Great looking interior. Very cozy. What is the make of the heater at the end? Looks like the perfect item to take away the chill. All the best, Paul.⛵👍🏻

Great mods! I have an M-17, and wonder if you’ve cut either of your small cockpit lockers open at the bottom for access to the bilge for fender storage? Thanks, really enjoy your videos.

Hi Scott, thanks for watching my channel. Tramontana’s port locker is already open and I store my fenders there, I cut the bottom out of the starboard locker and use it to store my extra anchor and 200’ anchor rode. This spring when I set my M17 up for the 2023 cruising season I’m going to make a video on all of the modifications I’ve made to Tramontana, stay tuned…❤️⛵️

I just stumbled upon your channel and I really enjoy it. I have a Gloucester 23’ and will be rethinking my use of storage space. I just bought a Big Buddy heater and wondered if you vent the cabin while running it or if you have any concerns about Co2?
@davidyoung5321
@davidyoung5321 7 ай бұрын
Good Morning Creekchicken, When I bought my heater I closed the cabin and tested the Co2 shutoff. Without the cabin vented it shut off. I need to vent the cabin for it to work. Great safety feature! I look forward to making my videos when I return to my home port. It’s been fun sharing my adventures on KZfaq and learning that people enjoy watching them. Thanks!

Thank you for the reply! I will definitely put mine to the test. Fortunately here in SC we can sail year round if you don’t mind the chill. I wish I were closer to the ocean so for now it’s the lake.

I’m in the process of buying a Flicka 20. It will be nice having a larger sailboat with a cabin I can stand in. Having a larger sailboat will open my cruising season during nice weather in the winter. I’m excited about cruising throughout the year!

It looks like there is wasted space under the shelf unit you built, its on that glass fibre built in liner, isnt there a lot of space between the unit and the hull? Maybe you could cut some openings in the GRP and put in a floor and create more stowage???
@davidyoung5321
@davidyoung5321 11 ай бұрын
Hi, at one time I considered cutting out the area you are talking about. I decided not to because there is so much storage on this 17’ sailboat that I didn’t need the extra space. If I did cut it out I’d bring more stuff that I don’t need. It’s crazy how much stuff I bring!
