You've got me running back and forth to check my "just bought" bus. I definitely need to watch all your video's.

Looking for injectors for a 9 liter from 1985 any ideas thanks

One major thing to watch out for with the 9.0 is keeping the head bolts tight if you are driving at high RPM's all the time. I highly recommend replacing them with ARP studs. The 9.0's compression is so high that the head bolts will stretch and allow the heads to lift off the block and blow the head gaskets. Had one do that to me at 300K miles.

What type of ARP studs do I need? Is there some type number I can look up? I have prob the only 9.0L in the Netherlands...need to be careful with it.

@@Wayoutthere I would call ARP and see if they have anything, and if not, call International with your VIN or Engine serial number, and they can tell you what bolts you need. My parts catalog for the s-series does not list the bolt types, but I have part numbers. Quantity is in parentheses. 1701218C1 - Bolt, 2-3/4 long (8) 1701219C1 - Bolt, 3-1/2 long (8) 258195C2 - Bolt, 5-1/4 long (20)

Would you happen to have a how to video about how to adjust valves. I’ve adjusted valves just fine but for some reason I can get this to one to adjust right or maybe I’m just over thinking it
@EconomicRefugeesRV6 жыл бұрын
It is possible for the valves to get tight due to the valves seating in the valve seats, when I run the rack on my diesel that's what I look for are tight valves. Beautiful job on your bus build !!

I have seen this literally 100's of times in my 35 years of Building Engines...For him to say that the Valves are tight because of previous maintenance (or lack there of) and didn't he say he has had this bus for TEN years? - Every Used vehicle I have ever bought gets a tune up, RIGHT AWAY, and on a Solid Lifter engine Valve clearances is part of that tune up.

I have the same engine. I found (so far) a wrecked bearing of the idler pulley, and tensioner spring. One or more of the valves have significant sideplay.. The rocker arm sits tight against the rocker arm shaft mounting, but once the engine is pressing oil trough the rocker arm moves sideways 0,19 inches.. Is that normal? Still need to recheck the head bolts, but I'm worried they might break. As for the oil leak. The main culprit is likely the darn oil cooler. The brass of the cooler expands/contracts differently then the cast iron block. The gasket goes out because of it.

You are a great mechanic I don't understand the valve train how the valves are could you explain that

Larry Fries I'm not sure exactly what you want to know. Glad to answer if you could comment back on that.
