In this video we visit the Bourke Street Mall in the heart of Melbourne. The Bourke Street Mall is a pedestrian mall and is Melbourne city's premiere retail area, being home to Myer's flagship store as well as a number of famous international brands.
The mall is served by tram routes 86 and 96; some of Melbourne's busiest tram routes. Here we see trams through the mall during afternoon peak hour. We mostly see various E Class trams (Bombardier Flexity Swift), including E1's, the more recent E2's (featuring a different cab and other modifications compared to the E1's), and some E1.5's (E1's that have an E2 cab on one end due to accident damage). We also see some B2 Class trams on route 86. Once a common sight on Bourke Street the B's have been displaced by more modern low floor trams on these routes in recent years. We also see some C2 Class trams (Alstom Citadis 302's) on route 96.
