This is a great lesson to begin to also build a chord catalog. My approach this time around (for me) is to not write this down on paper but to work on playing, Chords hearing and feeling of the keys in my hand.....okay okay ill write these 9's down lol lol lol

Thank You hearandplay and J.P. First timer here by accident,or was it lol. I enjoyed the part with the wheel and how J.P. explained it as a circle of 5ths,etc.My favorite part was near the end when he speeded/sped up the tempo and I could see/and hear how it can also be used in Jazz. I am a guitarist so I have to apply this to that but it's all relevant.Actually,I might be digging our daughters Casio keyboard out of the closet in the morning lol. Great lesson by a great teacher. I hit like and subscribe. Peace and God Bless.

Excellent. Your video helped me pull some helter skelter jazz theory together. I was always scared of playing in E A Gb. I've learned i know more than i think. Thank you for new tools. Your teaching is thorough and simplistic. I also appreciate you don't showcase your awesome skill but are sincere in helping others strive for excellence.

Pretty good I feel. Been working on some Lynyrd Skynyrd. Some of it a bit tough. I played lead guitar for 20 + yrs, so you might say I'm a late bloomer to piano.I went to a jam session about 6 yrs ago and had a few rum =cokes, I am not a drinker at all, They had an upright on the side of the stage and I asked if I could play it. They said sure, I asked to go easy for a few songs so I could transpose in my head. After that it was a Jerry Lee night. Bear in mind I had never actually played out b4. After that I started practicing and setting in with friends. That's my story.

when you were playing the minor 9 , I had to look it up because I didn't understand the theory behind it. for instance im really familiar with the key of aflat so once u called out aflat I looked up what an a flat minor 9 is and it says its also called an aflat minor 7 add9 and to me that easier because I feel like its spelling out the whole chord. why didn't you explain it that way ? and how do we know when to add a flat or sharp to a chord ?

Major is always skip 3 skip 2 and minor is skip 2 skip 3 (half steps). So, if you have a C chord, see how many notes you skipped. C chord is CEG. All white keys. If you want that to be minor, drop the middle note (the 3rd) one note (or half step). Majors sound happy. Minors, sad.

Well, you have to stop making excuses why not, for starters. Look up Wael Farouk. He plays classical as a little person. Rachmanioff, who was a big dude with huge hands. Had big piano parts, too. Wael manages. There are go-arounds. Just ask a piano teacher. And you mean "chord." :)

There's more than 12. They LIED to you, lol. You still have melodic minors, natural minors and harmonic...lol Oh, and relative minors...that's another 12 by itself. Don't give up. It's fun. Trust me. Interspersed with Don Music moments, tho...
