Fur Trapping 2016. Follow Adam Norris as he checks his trapline for Raccoon, Fox, Coyote, Mink and Muskrat. Adam shows a variety of way he traps including foot hold traps, conibers, and cable snares. All this was filmed in western Pennsylvania.

Awesome video! I'm planning on documenting my trap line this year as well. I heard you say you're not a very experienced canine trapper yet, but I think you had a pretty good idea of what you were doing. But just for future reference, the second coyote in this video I don't think had mange. Mange always starts around the butthole and tail, always. That bald spot on its back was most likely just a rub from going in and out of a den it's really common. Makes a coyote pelt worthless but it's common.

Hey man thanks. Mange does not have a place where it starts, that coyote 110% had the start of it, you didn't see the rest of the spots because it was muddy. Coyotes don't den until spring so rubbing was impossible in October. Good luck this year, Canines will humble the best of trappers.

lots of nice catch's fellas... to bad the prices sucked again...I havent trapped hard the last 2 years due to that but I still get out and catch a few dogs and other things just to get it out of my system...

Kyle - take some information from my video as well as the other vast youtube resources you have. The main thing is to have confidence and talk to landowners about letting you trap their properties, always secure permission. Start with something like raccoon and muskrat and you will get some catches, everyone catches possums.

do you make the cables that u attach ur dps to trees with or buy them i need to get some so im not burning up so many earth anchors

I purchase a roll of aircraft cable and alum. ferrules and make my own over the summer.

Hey how do you finish the coyotes off after you have them in the trap? Do you just shoot them? can you post a video showing how you do it?

+wilson sheaffer I shoot them with a 22LR behind the shoulder much as you would a deer. Maybe next year if I get a cameraman I will.

I think this year I'm going to focus on my water line have some pond marshes and Amal creeks right behind my house

I trapped a pond like that this season past it was destroyed by rats. They can cause a lot of damage. The landowner had one bank that collapsed.

+KILLKING110 they did fix it with about 3 ton of dirt and a back hoe and I am guaranteed a place to trap every year. Someone else had trapped it before but with the low prices did not trap so the landowner asked me. Trapping for me is not about the money either.

By setting your traps in areas where domestics don't travel. Most people seek me out to trap their properties, so they are well aware of the locations of my traps.

Those are our laws in PA, the main reason is to not attract and possibly catch Federally protected aerial predators.

Hey man I thought the same thing! but with a lot of work and studying I got my Californian trappers license, (thats coming from a 13 year old) so it is possible. The most free way of trapping that I've found legal is trapping beavers and muskrats with colony traps, so aquatic trapping is a good option for California. maybe you should give it a shot

I have an account there and Don Powell is a great trapper. I used a Canon EOS-60D DSLR camera to film this, the other guys have Sony handycams.

I know that sometimes it's better to kill an animal before it dies a more painful death and I'm not saying anything bad about you or anything, but I can't help but still feel bad when I see a fox all wet caught in a trap :(

I hunt but I could never trap. Theres no reason for me too anyways. I don't collect furs, I'm not eating raccoon meat or coyote meat just something I wouldn't eat. It's just sad trapping coyotes tbh. It reminds me of my dog that passed away. The way she was laying down with her head down like that. Also my other dog looks like that coyote, as you can tell I love my dogs haha.

Kind of a shitty, cruel hobby. I hunt, and have no problem killing animals, but that's really not something I could do with a clean conscience.

If you like killing deer with a clean conscience it would behoove you to add trapping into your management agenda in order to keep them in area you like to hunt.

Lots of stuff but it's what people did in the 16th and 17th century and they got paid thousands in today's money for doing it. I really don't see how trapping is any different from hunting.
