@@tae2910I personally think Acqua Essenziale Blu is nicer over some other cheaper designers. Although not as a poorly made BDC, but it reminds me of a lot of blue fragrances while being its own thing

I don't wear Encre Noir when I leave the house because it's really not everyone's cup of tea, but when I'm spending a day alone at home it's one I enjoy just for myself. Also Aqua Essenziale Blue reminds me of a more mature Dylan Blue, not BDC, and is a great value at it's price.

Polo Black edt is my SOTD! It's office safe and fades nicely. 8-10 sprays. Only scent I threw in the trash was Alfred Sung PH. Was looking for soapy scents at the time. I've passed on scents to my nephew. Paco Rabanne Lucky was a top pick everyone liked but I liked the Original, Parfum, Elixir, and Cologne more

Bentley intense, regular coach for men, Cuba millesime, regular invictus, I gave away or threw away. Dior homme intense I bought, sprayed twice and the only compliment I got was,” who smells like grandma”.

Totally get you with Oud for Glory. I was so hyped but man, this is a tough one. Gave it a lot of chances but no way 😂 sad since it seems to be really good clone.

Never smelled Office for Men, but Lattafa Ejazzi gold is supposed to be very similar. It's dirt cheap and my bottle turned beast mode after it macerated. I really like Armaf tres Nuit and badee al oud for glory.

You seriously need to try the Sport version of Encre Noire. Keeps the photorealistic forest smell, but adds a watery touch to it so its not offputting to most people.

I would rather throw CDNIM compare to Invictus victory elixir. Probably i hate Aventus DNA but CDNIM is so harsh and smells like rotten lemon in the garbage, and yeah it fits in my trash can

Ouch... I bought a 30ml bottle of CDNIM EDP early last year. The opening is harsh.... definitely. But when it settles down after 10 minutes or so, I find it to be fucking manly stuff. I wear it at work and it's a favourite for a few of the chicks there. I found a 200ml bottle for £50 and jumped straight on it. This is one I'll more than likely always have in the collection for the price to performance.

If there is one fragrance that I could throw in the trash everytime I smelled it, it would be Tom Ford's Grey Vetiver. That one makes me gag everytime I smell it. I don't know why. It triggers the same reaction in my throat that old fish does (Think Bertie Bott's Every Flavored Bean Fish Flavored if you ever had the joy of trying that one out - they replaced it with pepper which is saying something).

The ones I got rid of in the last year. All cheapies thankfully: Rochas Moustache - Got it for a good price. Smelled good on a mate of mine, not on me. Sold it to a colleague. Bait Al Bakhoor - Tohfa Blue - It was cheap, I'd had a few beers, I added it to the cart. It smelled plastic. Like, not OF plastic... just not real. Sold it to a colleague. Armaf - Tag Him - Not bad to be honest. Was on a bit of a blue hunt at the time. Found Missoni Pour Homme and Armaf Iconic to be nicer. Gave it to my cousin. Lattafa - Qaa'ed - I like this one. I really do. Third time I wore it though... Yeah. Let's just say it brings back some bad memories. Bin. I don't want to smell it on anyone! Lattafa - Raghba Wood Intense - Another one I love but I can't find an appropriate time to wear it. It's been removed from the fragrance carousel and is in a drawer until I work out what I want to do with it.

Encre Noire is niche. The whole line is. It's because they're cheapies it gets trashed right away. You gotta' love the that line like you gotta' love the genre and culture it embodies in movies, music, and design. It evokes and elicits a very particular mood.

Cloud not agree more! One of my first blind buys(with Bentley for men Intense) and probably the reason I went down this rabbit hole 180+ bottles and god knows how many samples later I still reach out for it when the weather is gloomy and the mood just hits. Looking at it from another perspective - if you really like it it is definitely not cheap, because you will go like: I wonder what else can be out there that smells so imaginary and so out of a A. C. Doyle novel...

I love it though...well the SPORT version I love. Especially on Rainy Spring Days. The ONLY compliment I've ever gotten from someone who wasn't a friend/collegue was from the regular Encre Noir though.

Thank God someone speaks the real truth on Acqua E Blu. They missed the mark completely and it’s poorly blended. All I get is a strong powdery nuance that is an instant turn off for a mens fragrance

I went through the same experience with many cheapie fragrances. They collected dust, I sold them as my collection expanded. I went back and purchased a few of them again. And again same outcome I didn't wear them that much. One thing I've learned about having a fragrance collection is that once you have purchased the top tier fragrances, the cheapies will not ever get the job done no matter how much they are hyped up. But I'll give you a few that I bought again after disregarding them as trash but actually kept around for good. Here goes- Versace pour Homme, Dylan blue, Missoni Wave, Jimmy Choo ice and man intense..Now I'll give you one that I kept only for the purpose of using it as an air freshener and that is afnan Turathi Blue. I think it's garbage as a fragrance but as an air freshener it does the trick.

Encre Noire is not for anyone. Its Unique and Its Long Lasting Fragrance. Spray it at night 6x and you're got to go as the Vampire's Hunter... I keep it for the value rather than other niche frags like PDM, initio, Xerjoff, etc

I am with you on Acqua Blue. Can't stand it. Colonia is great. The one i threw away was Pascal Moribito Black Agent. Ugh. Smells like hipsters smoking clove cigarettes in the park with a dumpster near by. I really like oud for glory, but everyones nose is different. Oh, yeah, Versace Pour Homme went in the trash too. Didn't smell bad i guess, but after 3 sprays my tongue shut down and i couldn't taste anything for hours. Tried it again and same thing. To the trash it goes.

Appreciate you taking in some Risk with this topic Nate. Out of the 35 or so fragrances I've sold off in the past 3 months the only one I've had some second thoughts about would be Allure Homme Sport eau Extreme. It never really vibed with me when I had it but lately there have been some occasions where I wanted to reach for it. Oh well I actually also got rid of Victory Elixir for the same reason, way too overwhelmingly resinous and strong. The Most Wanted EDP also was way too sickening sweet, tried wearing it twice got a headache both times but ended up swapping it for TMW Parfum and it's perfect for me. Heh I actually looove Aqva Atlatique.😂 It's such a deep blue ocean, extremely salty Aquatic very Ambroxan heavy so yeah it does have a very shower gel feel but I guess I like frags like that especially in warm weather. Also why don't you try getting Office for me through the 2nd hand market on eBay or Reddit?

Acqua essenziale is an elevated and more pleasant Dylan Blue. 250 fragrances deep in my collection and I still love it. Encre Noir is garbage and so is Sport. L’extreme however is a beautiful wood fragrance

Heh, im a bit like that with Montale Black Aoud, another very polarising fragrance. I bought it because i kept hearing rumors its absolutely nuclear and back then when i got into the hobby, that was the main factor i was looking for. It is strong indeed i'll give it that, but personally i never quiet warmed up to the scent. I still wear it from time to time and i'll probably keep it couse i never get rid of a fragrance but it will never be a love for sure.

CDNIM EDT=🤢🤮 That whole… “the nasty harshness goes away after the initial drydown” or “ you just have to let it macerate for a little bit”. All complete BS. I’ve had mine for over a year and it is still nasty. And I take no joy in saying this. Very odd, too, because when I first got it, before I sprayed it even once, when I smelled the atomizer, it was like… OMG this is aromatic perfection. Not sure what happened after it was sprayed, but it is complete harshy trash. I even hesitate to use it as a bathroom spray. Having said all that, I probably will eventually get the EDP or one of the other flankers.

Sapil Bound 🤢 Encre Noir Sport Lattafa Fakhar Black Lattafa Asad Lattafa Qaed Al Fursan Lattafa Malik Al Tayoor Ajmal Vibe 🤮 Joop Le Parfum, ohh I really hated that one, disgusting. Afnan 9pm 🤢 Rochas L'Homme 🤦♂️ Afnan Turathi Blue I'm learned my lesson about middle eastern fragrances. Those for me always smells bad in the dry downs.

@@SWTmel I gave away my Fakhar Black since I got a bottle of Yeah which is supposed to be closer to Y. I sold a backup od Asad and kept a bottle for nostalgia's sake. I got a bottle of Enigma Une instead. Turathi Blue was on my Wish List but has since come off. Just like RUe Broca. Heard CH212 is a classic. I just cou;dn't justify it for the price, though. Cheers.

Asad is still one of my go-to bottles even though I've got Sauvage Elixir. They're obviously not the same, there are similarities but I'd rather spray the cheapie day to day and keep the Sauvage for special occasions or days I know I need to smell divine, not just effing good! Fakhar Black.... yeah, it was one of my first Lattafa's and it's definitely appealing. I always get told I smell good when I wear it. Would I buy it again? Nah. It was one of my "getting into this" buys but the performance and smell on my skin have always been very very good!

You can check the batch code online and that will tell you if it was fake or not. But if you threw it away, it's too late.

I'd seen a lot of hype for Encre Noir but never pulled the trigger. I work in a hotel and every so often, I'll be in a room and see a bottle of smelly stuff. Obviously I'm not going to spray it but I'm going to give it a little sniff to see if it's any good. Found a few good ones that are in my collection that way. I found Encre Noir in a room a couple months back and gave it a sniff..... yeah.... I'll not be buying it.

@@MrBaldypete1 😂 I actually gave the a l'Extreme version years of testing and I still can't seem to enjoy wearing it. Lorson recycled the base for Bentley's For Men Intense. The value's there, but it takes a dedicated soul.

I can definetly understand how Encre Noir wouldn't be someone's cup of tea but the direction you came from when you criticized the scent was simple minded, to put it politely. Quality is quality, one, ten or a hundred years from now. You are mixing up the words quality with diversity or uniqueness my man. Just because there is more diversity now doesn't take away from the quality of something else that was done earlier. But yea, its not for everyone, certainly not for the Starbucks generation and Iphone wokies.

Just because something is made with care and high quality ingredients does not mean it is worth it to everyone. Let me explain. A couple comments down I touched on making the comparison to movies. Let's say you like romantic comedies, and let's say there's a war movie that just came out and it is filmed really well, the makeup is on point, the lighting is amazing, the direction is great. But you could care less because you don't like war movies. And if somebody asks you how you like the movie and you tell them all of the reasons you didn't like the movie. It's really not going to change someone's mind explaining that it was shot really well, it was edited perfectly. The story was on point. Because at the end of the day you didn't like the film. Same thing with this, I could say all of the reasons I don't like a fragrance and there's a million other reasons why I could like the fragrance. It's all art and art is not meant for everyone. 2 to 3 months later, you're not going to say let's go watch that war movie. You're going to watch a romantic comedy, something you actually want to watch. Hopefully that explains my standpoint on it.

@@ParagonFragrances The analogy is good, there is absolutely nothing wrong in constructive criticism in regards to anything, fragrances included. Infact its a breath of fresh air in fragcom that tends to "like everything". Having said that, it has to be formulated objectively, as long as a sense of professionalism is desired. Even in your analogy you brought up quality, and its undeniable in Encre Noire's case too. Quality is a factor that has to be considered and aknowledged even if the end result is not to your taste. So labeling it trash wasn't too elegant, unless it was meant as clickbait or triggerbait in which case it kinda worked :P. But i think i know what you wanted to say in the first place. Encre Noire has gotten its hype and its only appeal to some was the price/quality ratio that was more rare back then, then it is now, considering what fragrances are being released today for similar prices. And i would agree with that point, Encre Noire is no longer one of the few fragrances with a great price / quality ratio out there so it shouldn't be the only point it is judged on.

I'm trying to get out of the habit of saying "this stuff" when referring to fragrances. It's a hard habit to break. I'm always up for constructive criticism. I did have Encre Noire for 10-11 months or so and did give it time to shine. It just never hit the mark for me.

Lol what's up Troy. Man I never purchased Acqua essenziale Blu but you are right that stuff gets hyped up to the moon by TLTG. I almost bought it a couple times but never did. I have a hard time believing any fragrance is good that costs less than $35. Just like all the clone fragrances that get hyped up I rarely buy clones because every time I do it's terrible.

I'm with you on Acqua Essenziale Blu, Nate. I heard Ross praising it for years, and so I finally caved and bought a bottle. Initially, I wrote it off as being pretty basic. After I came back to it awhile later, I completely flipped and thought it was an amazing buy, considering the price. 6 months later, I sold the bottle and I'm somewhere in the middle, in that it's a decent blue cheapie for the price, but it's definitely nothing amazing.

That thumbnail hooked me I'll admit. Me and my wife can't stand Essenziale Blu. I TRIED to like it because of the hype but it just smells like very spicy baby powder. Collects dust on my shelf.

Can anything truly be trashed? I found that when something is allowed to mature with the cap off, the fragrance becomes otherworldly. Sometimes the change can be strange. It's still a wonderful experience to evolve with a scent, though.

exactly...just because something isn't appealing to one doesn't make it TRASH worthy...donate, sell or gift it. I really wish people would stop bashing fragrances they have never encountered just off the review of a content creator or random commenter. EVERY person's olfactory senses are unique to that person and your sense of smell is trained through life to notice certain scents more than others if we have things that we are partial to smelling. Mi wife never smells what I smell with my frags and vice versa on hers. Its a big beautiful scented world and we should take time to enjoy it one sniff at a time!!

I dont like Ferragamo bc its a uninspiring blue fragrance that lasts nothing at all... For me, I am lucky when i get 1 hour out of it. Ferragamo Black is way better and intense leather is good too.

JPG le male le parfum, absolute trash. smells like old lady soap to me need to get rid of it. Coach for men, great smell but gone within 2 hours, same with hugo by hugo boss.

fakhar black, ysl y clone. smells so synthetic. gave it away. kenzo homme EDT intense - smells too synthetic gave it away. I think its the iso E super bothering me. same goes for bois imperial and chanel egoiste platinum, good for a bit then turns into headache inducing. probably the iso e super.

I would argue it isn't rubbish. I call these type of frags "Situational". Such as, I'm going to a traditional Irish Pub in New England this St. Patrick's Day. Bentley For Men Intense is the PERFECT Frag for the situation. Smells like whiskey, projection monster (on me), and has that sweet smell girls enjoy.

I'll half agree with you. I get the old man smell with the woods and stuff but it's far from rubbish. I've gotten a fair few compliments from chicks with this one. Having said that, it's not a safe one. I tend to wear it when I'm off of work and going about my off days. Wife likes it on me too.

Armaf Untold. Had it for a year, let it "Macerate" STILL smells like burnt F'ing rubber. I don't know wtf people are on about. The other BR540 clones at least smell somewhat like it. Even the $8 Ana Abiyedh (White) smells better. Not good, but better than this Untold Crap.

sorry you had a bad experience with it...I am wearing it RIGHT now and have been getting complimented left and right everywhere I go. I did buy it at first release so maybe I have a better batch but I do know that I have had no issue with Untold.

@@TastesandScents I also bought it at first release. It might be my nose reacting badly to the cheaper aromachemicals used. But I WILL NOT wear something that stinks to me no matter how much other people like the smell of it lol. It undermines your confidence and makes you sick to your stomach.
