Malay have their own food, the fusion of Chinese or Indians food only comes later, but Indian Muslims do play a big part in introducing dishes like curry, while the Chinese would toned down the often spicy taste of Malay and Indians food into a more milder taste. The local Malay food are a lot, for breakfast, lunch or tea time, even for rainy days. You just have to ask the local Malay what are the dishes and you will see the differences between them. If you're more familiar with Thai food, yup it's not like Thai food too. I guess you would know it if you eat it 😂 Btw, I'll list down a few of Malay food, Nasi Lemak (full dish) Nasi Kerabu (full dish) Nasi Dagang (full dish) Ayam Masak Lemak (side dish) Ayam Masak Kicap (side dish) Ayam Masak Merah (side dish) Ayam Goreng Kunyit (side dish) Asam Pedas Ikan/Ayam (side dish) Rendang Ayam (side dish) Gulai Tempoyak (side dish) Singgang Ikan/Ayam (side dish) Ubi Rebus (for tea time) Lempeng (for breakfast) Cekodok (for tea time/breakfast) Kuih muih (various local dessert) Laksa Johor/Penang (light/noodle dishes) Soto Ayam (light/noodle dishes) Lontong Darat (for breakfast) Chicken satay (for anytime) And many more. Every state in Malaysia has their own unique Malay dishes anyway 😊

Thank you. I understand what you are saying. I said "fusion" because we in North America have Chinese restaurants and Indian restaurants and Thai restaurants. Not many Malay restaurants - so us North Americans don't know much about Malay cuisine. I didn't mean to to imply that Malaysia didn't have their own cuisine. I apologize if my comments upset you. :) Dev.
