Thanks men, I went to Kuqa last summer and that video could have really helped me, without a VPN and any guides it was hard to know what to visit and see there ! I just realise now what I've missed !

Hi Josh. I hope you enjoyed your stay in my country - my ancestry is from Hong Kong and its nearby province. I know China is far too big to discover everything, but I admire you are the lucky person you went to the western part of China I have never been to before. I never even heard of Kuqa, and thanks for your five recommendations because I'm also a history, nature and culture lover. In fact that I have never met a Uighur person nor yet seen one in my life.

When you said that Kuqa was a place only for those who are interested in Uyghur culture and history, I immediately knew that this was a place worth visiting, being a cultural enthusiast! And by the way, at 2:53, I remember that in an episode of The Food Ranger, Trevor James stopped by over here to make his own naan bread. 😁

I'm not sure if it's out of line to ask this. I love your videos and the scenery is fantastic and the places you recommend are fascinating but I wish the videos were at least twice as long.
@FarWestChina
@FarWestChina 7 жыл бұрын
+rain74925 Thank you for your comment, and don't worry - I actually take that as a compliment. I'd rather you want more as opposed to telling me you got bored. That said, I'm working to create longer videos. The problem is that a longer video takes substantially more time to create and edit :/
@rain74925
@rain74925 7 жыл бұрын
I'm all for longer videos, yes yes. I understand creating and editing longer videos are time consuming, but it would be so awesome if you would add a little more commentary (more footage as a result, haha) on the places or things you mention in your videos. Again regardless, really enjoyed your videos.

I'm planning to go travel there around this year as a backpacker. I've watch all of your video and its really help me to know more about this place. Btw is it better to hire a travel agent or just go by my own ? because its really hard for me to plan the timing and budgeting to plan it on my own
@FarWestChina
@FarWestChina 7 жыл бұрын
You can do it either way. It depends on your preferred mode of travel and how comfortable you are getting around a place where you don't speak the language. I always travel by myself but I know plenty of others who use travel agencies.

I think that you can do it by yourself if you speak some chinese, even basic (most uygurs speaks it), but without it it's far more complicated, almost nobody speaks english.

Simon Leroy how abt the agent. Are they speak english ? Thanks btw
@simonl2748
@simonl2748 7 жыл бұрын
I'm sure you can find some agencies with english speaking guides, I even met an uygur speaking french ! But I went there by myself, I didn't have any travel agencies or guides, so my advice is probably not the best.. I met a couple that didn't speak a word of chinese, just backpacking without agencies and guides and they were doing pretty good ! As you want !

Well, not really in these smaller towns. Many times, it has more to do with being near a desert (sand storms) than it does pollution.
