Traveling to Boracay, Philippines through Manila airport (starting in Puerto Princesa) was quite a journey! We opted to do it all ourselves instead of organizing a transfer with a hotel or company in Boracay, and it was a little confusing at times. The travel day to Boracay was a long one, starting in Puerto Princesa airport (where we had planned to do a tour but it was canceled due to bad weather 2 days in a row), stopped for a layover in Manila International Airport, and then landed in Caticlan Airport. That's when things got really interesting.
Catching the flights was the easy part. Once we arrived at Caticlan airport we had to figure out how to get to Boracay Island (which is just off the coast) independently. We figured it wouldn't be too difficult as Boracay Island is the #1 vacation destination for local Filipinos, so the route had to be well marked as many people make this journey every day for their holidays. Sure enough, everyone working in the area knew what to do, the only trouble is we didn't know what we were doing so we just kept handing over cash and being herded through like cattle ;)
After two tricycle rides, a boat ride, and getting very close to puking in front of a boatful of vacationers, we arrived in our hotel in Boracay! For anyone who is wondering how to get from Manila Airport or Caticlan Airport to Boracay Island, we show all the steps and costs as of 2023 in this video and hope you find it helpful! As travelers on a budget, we always opt for the least expensive option to get to a new place, and when visiting Boracay Island, that means organizing the transfers ourselves. The DIY method to get to Boracay ended up being quite affordable and we're happy we went with this option!
Boracay is known for having one of the best beaches in all of the Philippines, and is a very popular place to visit for locals and foreigners visiting Philippines. The only trouble is that traveling to Boracay Island can be a little confusing when you look it up online. The most common route to get to Boracay is from Manila airport, so we've focused on this part of our travel day to help anyone who is planning to make the same journey during their visit to the Philippines!

Hey there! We are Nicole and Mico and in March 2021, we quit our jobs, sold our belongings, and began traveling the world! We never thought we'd be making travel vlogs on KZfaq, but after realizing that we had a unique opportunity to share our adventure and make the world feel more familiar and inviting to anyone watching, we took the leap and picked up the camera! We hope our videos show how wonderful, delicious, and friendly the world can be.
