Virginia and Truckee steam train Gold Hill to Virginia City, Nevada

The Virginia and Truckee is one of America's oldest railroads. Originally built to serve the mining industry. Tracks were laid in 1869 and follow a 14 mile stretch of the original line from Virginia City to Gold Hill, Nevada. The locomotive puts on a good show as it climbs the 3% grade towards Virginia City. Most of this area looks very much like it did a hundred years ago. For more information click link here www.virginiatruckee.com

Neat! I live in Gold Hill, NC but it's no where near as beautiful as Gold Hill, NV. This is on my bucket list of tourist railroads to visit.

Great the name GOLD HILL and a train popped up yes in 2019 sept was on the train with diesel Electric locomotive from Virginia city to Gold hill great job and At of memories thank you 🚂 all a board and a tip of 🎩 to you 🏆⛏️🤔

Same type of loco as the one at Huckleberry RR in MI! :) I see they have the oil conversion on this engine instead of using coal. Thanks for sharing!

I just watched some videos of old gold mines and the wheels on the old mining carts were made by Virginia and Truckee. I wonder what they are using to produce steam. It's not coal or wood, I don't see much smoke
