Very nice job! The best part of this video is where you took the weird, random results you had rolled up, and wove them into an interesting background. Upvote on doing another one of these. If you want, speed thru the random rolls, and jump fairly quickly to the synthesis part of the effort. Warm regards, Rick.

Thanks Rick. I appreciate the encouragement. I have not put anything out for a while and it was fun doing this.

That Google sheet is very neat. Another very fun video. I like your process.

Please go further with this and do a few more planets I want to see one with a imperial Consulate, maybe do some work off camera as well then come back and fill in the gaps on the ones you did on camera such as faction names and leaders and noticeable people maybe even planetary maps showing different key areas of each system and planet (if that is allowed within the travellers system)

Thanks I will certainly aim to build out some more and stay focus on the process.

Really like your videos. I wouldn't mind seeing another few world generations, maybe one with bases, or a video that goes another level down into generating patrons, creatures, or locations in an already generated system, either this one or a future one.

Great thanks for the comment. I am starting to add enemy details in the next video (part3) and will also included a Patron or two in the follow-up next week (part4).

Quite interesting that I am not only very fond of Gruntz (still waiting on those v2 playtesting notes you promised me a year ago), but you also produce content for two RPGs very close to my heart, DCC and Traveller. Looking forward to your future shenanigans.

Send me a reminder again on email or message on facebook and I can get the play test out to you. It’s still in the same state due to a lack of play testing games during Covid, however the base is still there to try.

Very inspirational. I wanted to get into game mastering but always bounced off world creation that is just not a rip off. Traveler looks interesting.

Traveler is a lot of fun, some depth to it but still grounded in some old-school type rules and thinking.

Great Traveller videos! Keep them coming! I'd like to see adventure design videos, lore or Jump Drive Astrogation navigation videos. Anything really. These are really informative.

Thanks for the comment. Very much appreciated. I am putting a bit more about some enemies the players have in my game in this weeks upload, so starting to explore the campaign beyond the system geography etc. Just uploading it today.

@@RottenMechGaming Thank you. Themed Campaign Diaries that illustrate Traveller concepts would be entertaining and informative series. A Game Master Tips series would be fun too.

Enjoyed watching your process very much. Part 1 triggered me to start my own finally. In this case, I would say a better way to account for such a high population would be to include many Belters. It would still count as the system population and also account for more political factions comprising the Balkan State esthetic.

For the trade classifications, if you have two or more conditions listed, all of them have to apply; eg. For "Rich" the world must have Atm 6 or 8 AND Pop 6-8 AND Gov 4-9. I think your LBB Book 3 must be a later edition than mine as I don't have the section on generating Jump Routes.

Thank you that makes sense to line up all requirements. Thanks

I have the 1977 ones and exactly as shown in video... FWIW
@tamsinp77113 жыл бұрын
@@GoT_17k Hmmm, mine's the 1981 second edition. You two must have the earlier one - I wonder why they dropped the Jump Route table? There is a short section on p5-6 on Coomunication Routes.
@RottenMechGaming3 жыл бұрын
@@tamsinp7711 I can confirm that mine is a 1977 Games Workshop UK printed version. After some discussion on Reddit it appears that the first editions had it and then they removed the table in the 80's version.

One of the problems I've found with world generation is this: The average world population is (2D6-2) or generally 5. That's 100,000 people; about the size of an averge city. The tech levels tend to average at 7 or Earth in the 1970s. That is all well and good but if you want advanced civilizations and super cities, you will have to make modifications.
@RottenMechGaming3 жыл бұрын
I agree, it feels like the 1970's designers wanted to make planets feel like they could be primitive or post-industrial. I think its probably due to the period when personal computers and the "cyber" world had not been explored much in fiction. Authors like Banks and Gibson were more 1980's and started to explore more universally available tech in their universes. There is certainly a place for retro-tech and primitive worlds that are struggling due to being on the fringe or a religious view that made the planet drop tech for basic farming etc. It adds to a rich setting but at the same time it feels like they should be rare and not as likely a result as part of world building.

@@RottenMechGaming In my game I've come to terms with it. The Spinward Marches *IS* a backwater that is still recovering from the Long Night. Each planet is doing the best they can with the resources that they have. I see it as similar to the early days of North American colinization, where each tiny village looks forward to seeing the annual ship from home. The low population gives an excuse for a frontier lifestyle as well. But if I wanted a more civilized region I would add 2 or 3 to the die rolls for population and Tech level.

Could you share your pdf of the sector and your Google sheets doc? Thanks! It looks like the start of a good tool. Is there away to randomly roll and auto create a whole sector on the sheet using tables?
@RottenMechGaming3 жыл бұрын
Hi I don't think I can share because its copyright Mongoose. If I knew who to ask permission from I would but its material straight from the book, so I was not planning on sharing the sheet. In regard to auto generation, I avoid that because I want to roll 1 system at a time so that I can experience the development. Also rolling is more fun! However, in regard to sharing I might share the final system as a PDF if I manage to complete the whole subsector.
