Traxxas SUMMIT - Is It Any GOOD? (My Thoughts + TOP SPEED RUNS) is it 1/8 or 1/10 Scale?? Diff Locks

In this video I go over my Traxxas Summit. It is listed as a 1/10 scale but is more the size of a 1/8 scale rc. I go over the features as well as upgrades that have been done to it. I also do a GPS top speed run alongside a running / review video. I give my thoughts on whether or not it is good or not.

Got mine used sold to my friends dad made it look brand new and sold it , found another one with box tools and batteries with charger, love it so much

Oh man! I just picked one up from a small town in Montana I’m so excited to charge it up And take it out Sadly I’m driving across the country and won’t be able to take it for my first test run til I get back to Cali Boooooooo!

Me and me girlfriend pulled over driving from NEw York Going back to Cali And just a lucky find She went into a small gift shop and came back out And said There’s a whole section in the back nothing but RC stuff I went in he had a whole wall of Traxxas Airplanes boats It was a dope little gem find the price was good,( meh) And he gave me a free battery Knocked off Dollars off a new charger And even another battery he knocked off $7 beans That made a very special B Day gift from my girlfriend.

Great video! First thing I noticed was your shifting on the fly... DEF NOT SUPPOSED TO BE SHIFTED WHILE MOVING! You WILL damage your transmission and lockers if you shift transmission or lockers while moving! The shifting is ONLY for crawling, like a real 4x4 truck it has 4high and 4low for extra torque! Novice mistake! And this truck goes faster then noted in this video, probably only goes this fast in video because this transmission is probably fuked up!

Yeah a few people have made that clear to me. Lol 😂. I don’t play by the rules! I think the transmission is still fine though

I bought a summer a couple months ago brand new in the box the orange and black I love that truck I also have the green summit too the one that I bash and then the one that I keep for showcasing but the summit is definitely a very fun truck and the xmax is outstanding I really want one but I wish I had the money for it Traxxas is the best RC company ever made ever

I have a summit with lipos and brushless castle. The thing is a lot of fun and can really crawl. Problem is that I'm constantly replacing/repairing every part of it. I've done like 3 or 4 diffs (which involves taking half the thing near completely apart) and just replaced the tranny. If not that it's servos, axles, wheels, esc... Even went thru 2 of the crappy stock titan motors. I don't mind working on it, but jeez, it breaks almost every time I'm out. I take the thing out maybe 6x a year, not lots of mud. Maybe I'm too hard on it, but i don't think so. In lots of ways i like my 2wd castle rustler better. Lot easier and cheaper to work on. Real fun to drive, nimble, quick and fast.

It’s definitely not a full on basher…..I know what you’re talking about with taking half the machine apart to fix the diffs…..I don’t mind working on it as long as it doesn’t involve getting to the differentials….yeah if only it was more durable

Honestly I’m not sure? If you can find a used one in good shape on EBay that’s what I’d do. I got mine for about $450 and it was only used a few times so it was still almost in new condition and it had some upgrades

My summit gos 25 MPH so yours aint getting the speed and mine has stock motor and stock gearing the same as yours

Mines never gone any faster than that..I can tell it’s pretty much topped out...it might be differences between the gps we are using?

@@RCKnockout It's your batteries. Run it on 4s (16.8v max 14.8v nominal) and you'll get less voltage sag and have more current for the motor to max out its power.

Great review of the Summit as I also got mine used! Going back into past 1/10 Summit reviews, it seems a common observation that the Summit is larger then 1/10 scale. In my first Summit video, I said as much when comparing it to a 1/10 Redcat Volcano - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/b9Kcqa6rlcu7c40.html However, I just got a 1/10 Redcat Gen8 that clearly shows that the 1/10 Summit is really a 1/10 monster truck - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g9RnZdNj17SxhZc.html Yeah, my Summit is way faster then any crawler . . .

The Traxxas Summit is so good it killed a lot of RC cars/trucks if you can find it buy it.

Omg never shift the summit from low hear to high gear until it’s come to a complete stop 🤦🏼 great way to chip and snap all those plastic gears 👎🏼

I have a newer summit with the a hobbywing max 8 system and erevo wheels . It’s on 4s and crazy fast .

Chris Wade nice! What motor are u running? Max 8 is a 6S capable Esc right?

RC Knockout yes it’s 6 s capable. It’s the max 8 combo it came with the 2200kv motor . I have the same setup in my brushless E maxx . My summit has a ton of upgrades.

Chris Wade so what did you have to upgrade in the drivetrain in order for your Summit to handle that kind of power?

RC Knockout drive shafts , and the diffs . And the E revo tires . The summit tires ballooned way too much.

Actually a brand new 1/10 Summit is about $470-$500 new. I think an E-Revo 2.0 is around $600ish? Maybe $650?
