Mistake 1 is proper identification. The terms "I have grubs" has turned into a generic turn where an individual finds a problem spot in the yard. A simple pull test will help you find out if you have bugs in the lawn. You will physically find grubs if you have them.
Mistake 2 - Not applying a preventive application. Preventive applications are made easy with syngenta's Acelepryn. This is a one app per season type of product that has both preventive and curative action. That's right, it kills grubs and also kills larvae and the adults laying the eggs like billbugs, japanese beetles, chaffer bugs and more.
Thanks for tuning in! I specialize in solving lawn problems and implementing strategies to fix lawn problems. Weather you have crabgrass that's not dying, too much thatch, lawn fungus, over watering problems or an ugly lawn there's not a lawn problem I can't solve. Try the Ginja 5 Steps to diagnosing a lawn you'll be glad you did. Don't forget to checkout my playlist.

I'll have to keep this product in mind for next season to try out. I have Duocide on hand mainly for tick mitigation, and the grub mitigation as a big side benefit..but their directions I find are kinda sketchy (it says to wait for an infestation then use the product, which I didn't know..and I'll be applying anyways once our temps come back up). What I really want also is something to control those Chinese lantern flies. I used Demand CS at the mixing rate in sygenta's memo, but they just persisted on some of my trees. So far I haven't seen any larvae yet, they way I did last season this time.

nothing wrong with duicide. i've used it before. as for the labels...... many times its a pay to play system due to regulations and liability. with that said demand is a fantastic product. its got a little miticide action to it, when applied correctly i've seen it work up to 90 days, in ideal conditions, as the label states. however for flying insects i've found using the lower rates and more consistent spraying works best. thanks for sharing your experience.

The nice thing is our areas are almost identical. You will physically see the bugs. if you get down on the lawn you'll find your answer. As i posted in this video the pull test is the most important aspect. I would suggest you watch my video on snow mold as well. most lawns, due to the amount of snow we received, have some areas of snow mold. Grubs in our areas come in two types, billbug grubs that overwinter in the adult form and japanese beetles that overwinter in the larvae form. never hearts to use the products I listed in the video.

I'm trying to remember what I put down on my lawn at the previous address the three years prior. I was picking up all kinds of skills there! including: becoming a high tech gofer catcher lol. last year I caught 14 of those things with the victor black boxes that I was able to buy from Home Depot for 15 dollars. I bought six lol. I caught so many of them in the first few weeks that they got smart and stopped making the mounds all over my beautiful lawn. Instead, I would find holes, or usually it was my dog Maximus that would spot the holes, and I would dig, set the trap and within an hour, I usually had it. the first three I caught were within 10 minutes of setting the trap! They do get smart, so you have to be clever haha. Thought I would throw in that story for entertainment haha

Jared treating cranberry girdlers/billbugs and was told by USU to treat them like grubs. While researching, Michigan State had an article which said imidacloprid will consistently reduce 75-100% of the grubs whereas chlorantraniliprole is 65-80%. What is your real-world experience with the effectiveness of both these insecticides for treating billbugs and cranberry girdlers? It would be nice to treat once with chlorantraniliprole.
@pestandlawnginja
@pestandlawnginja Жыл бұрын
I wish I could tell you about the efficiency with cranberry girdlers. I’ve had a great experience with imidacloprid efficiency over the past 14 years. It works great against grubs. With that said in our area the cranberry girdlers commonly hit in mid to late august. When we put our preventive imidacloprid treatments down in may there wasn’t enough residual to carry through. When they hit they go through lawns fast. We commonly use a repellent to control them since they’re closer to the surface. Hope that helps

@pestandlawnginja Жыл бұрын
great question. that is one thing that's not commonly listed on a label. Having been in the pest control world for 20 years here's my 2c. this type of product is a stem driven product. if your animals aren't grazers, meaning they eat the grass non stop, you'll be good. most side effects come from inhalation and getting sprayed directly. I too have pets and this is also important to me. what I do is I keep my animals off the grass until after it dries. when I have an animal that loves to eat the grass I keep them off of it until i mow 1 or two times. Hope that helps.

depends on what is around the rv pad. if there is no trees within 12 to 15 feet you can do a soil sterelant called bare spot. you'll still have to treat every 3 to 6 months. other than that I would treat every other month with a cobination of a glyphosate product like erase, duo stick surfactant, and dimension 2ew, as directed by the labels.
