Thanks for your review! I've bought one for hospital stays when my medically complex child needs to be in hospital, so I'll be using the foot pump as i need something relatively quiet to inflate when we're admitted at 1am and you are trying not to wake other patients and parents! And those fold out beds for parents are the devil! They're so lumpy and you can feel the metal poles underneath through the "mattress". I had to sleep on one just last night and i was unbelievably sore this morning. Our hospital stays have ranged from just 1 night to months on end. I'm looking forward to a much more comfortable sleep next hospital admission! Thanks again! 😊

Thanks for reviewing this. I've been looking at getting this, or the UL80. As for the pump, I'd much rather a foot pump than blowing it up purely because the bacteria and moisture from your lungs will eventually grow to mold inside the sleeping pad, if you blow it up with your mouth. It also saves having to take a separate pump, manual or electric. The mat looks really comfy as it's very thick, which is what I need as I'm skinny therefore boney, and a side sleeper. Cheers mate. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for that Dan I was one who asked for the review and you certainly didn't disappoint!! I'm a side sleeper and Hammock Camper due to back issues so I would still like to see how it fairs in a Hammock if possible. I'm planning a couple of Bothy trips this year and I know that this would be a great bit of kit plus an insulated matt underneath. I'd also invest in a small air pump as well. Personally I'm not bothered about the weight as I normally take everything including the kitchen sink lol

Great review and it's helped me decide not to get one, bit to heavy and the pump is just not needed, also going by your timings I would hate to be outside the tent trying to inflate it for 5 mins in heavy rain !! Think I'll look at it's predecessor 👍 thanks again and keep up the great work 👍👍😉

Great video Dan. I have the UL80 which is really good. I also got a Naturehike mat last year that has a very similar pump that you do with your hands. I found it quite good. I still think Trekology should do a UL80 winter edition with a better R value. I think the pack size on this new mat will put a lot of people off. Thanks again Dan.

They include the pump Dan cos when you blow it up by mouth, your blowing moisture into it like condensation inside it. This could freeze on a cold night and rob your body heat. Better to use the pump. 😎

Just bought this pad the issue with the pump is easily solved with a clothes peg and when packing push the air out off the pump first then put the plug back in before rolling up doing this I had no problems getting it back into the bag. Very comfortable pad, inflation was easy and the pump saves spending another £20 / £30 on a pump sack or battery pump. The R rating is 1-8 .

In theory the UL140 is an excellent mat however I had 2 issues with mine. Firstly, it deflated the first night I used it. All valves were closed correctly etc. but it still deflated about 30-40% overnight. Secondly, I found it next to impossible to get back into the stuff sack after use. I had a UL80 mat before and it was excellent. The UL140 is definitely more comfortable but it's not without it's hassles as described above. You're right about the pump too, it's not so good. I ended up blowing it up myself and it took a while.

I love the look of it, looks comfy! Certainly wouldn't class it as ultralight at 1kg, lightweight maybe. My ultralight is 640g. The pump is not such a good idea and I'd ditch the pouch for a strap so you can roll it how you want. Despite the negatives I still like it 👍

Just purchased one, i thought for the pump to use my knee and kneel on it, 5 mins of effort to be really comfortable as a side sleeper is way worth it, not to wake up with aches n pains is well worth some effort and the price is good, i note the Canadian army ( who know a thing or two about cold camping) use a mat very similar to the ul80 they put a foil covered roll mat under it as extra insulation and to protect the rubber mat from the ground.
@ThisWontEndWell3 жыл бұрын
I use the Treekology UL50 (the lightest one) with Therm-a-Rest Z-Lite folding sleep mat it's perfect and taken my backpack down to 45Lgetting rid of a bulky mat like the UL140. At least a foam sleeping mat strap to the outside of my backpack and weighs virtually nothing and doubles up as a seat. This mat I'd only use on a campsite where I'm just loading equipment out of the car it seems like that's where it's best suited.

I think KZfaq should add an extra button to possibly 'dislike' a product rather than the video itself. 7 thumbs down does not seem fair. Great video, informative and focusing on pro/con which is what you want. I think for car camping , weekend camping with the family , or for someone who has issues with their back, this is great. To be fair with the right UL tarp/bivy this wouldn't add much to the overall pack weight. Could easily take it on a 3 to 4h hike.
@jonnyb60343 жыл бұрын
Hi. Are trekology asking you for feedback? , if so please will you ask them to do the UL80 but insulated. It would be the best mat out there. I used mine last weekend, very comfy but I felt the cold come through Keep up the good work.

It sure looks comfy but I've got the UL80 and that is just fine for me. I think the extra bulk and weight, that footpump is unnecessary too. I've got an electric micro pump which really saves a lot of huffing and puffing. It inflates the UL80 in a couple of minutes. I found this one very particular about how you get it back in that stuff sack as you found.
