Can we leave filming random strangers in public. Like you can stage weird encounters if you want, and if you stage them you can make them even weirder. But Please no more filming strangers for online clout in 2024.

To add to your segment about 9 year old girls doing anti-aging skincare routines: I think this is 100% a symptom of the vanishing preteen/tween stage. As a lot of other commentators have pointed out, girls go from being children straight into teen/adult and that middle transitional period flat out doesn't exist anymore. When I was that age I had some interest in makeup and skincare, but the stuff that was marketed and available to me (and that I was interested in) was cleansers that felt and smelled nice, and makeup that didn't chisel my features into looking more mature than I really was, but had glitter and fun colors instead. I didn't want to look like Kim Kardashian (or whoever the 2001 equivalent was, no idea tbh), I wanted blue lips and shimmery eyeshadow and to look like a fairy. Edit: Because it apparently needs to be said: this isn't the kids' fault and I'm not blaming them. I'm pointing out that this middle market used to exist very prominently, and now it doesn't, so kids skip straight to adult routines, products, fashions etc.

To be fair, while you were at that age mainstream media was colourful and childish so you could just be following the things you saw too but it was just more child friendly especially with the disney's power at that era and their influence

I love that my 13 year old strieve for 90s fashion, combats, baggy t shirts, big boots, hoodies. For smart dress she likes below the knee dresses and high necklines. Shes not fussed by makeup. She likes me to curl her hair and asked me to do false gel nails for her as all her nails broke. We work together to have fun with growing up but shes still my baby and shes ok with that. She also has her own business and a job. Im so proud of her, she is amazing.

Seeing so many under-21s getting major plastic surgery makes me sad. I fell into BBL KZfaq a couple weeks ago, and this one chick in particular, who is ONLY 20, had so many procedures done already. She made a vlog of her BBL recovery, which was actually pretty funny & interesting to watch, so I got sucked in. But damn, girl. She’d gotten maybe 4 procedures done that one day alone, including the aforementioned BBL. Her doctor kept pointing out “flaws” that he could “fix”🙄 She looks absolutely amazing, but she already did beforehand, too. It’s just a lot of invasive surgery for someone who’s freshly out of their teens. Especially when body trends change so rapidly, and in a year or two you’re gonna be told your new body is no longer the “ideal”. And kids & luxury beauty…ugh. Seeing these 10yr olds b e g g i n g for Drunk Elephant & Charlotte Tilbury as Christmas gifts was a depressing end to 2023.

It makes me sad. I had an experience where I told a plastic surgery office admin that I wished I had a better jaw. She told me people pay money to get a jaw like mine and it was really flattering. If any medical professional always has some new thing to make you more perfect, they're treating you like a cash cow. Any dr worth their salt will tell you things you can work on, things that are genuinely fine, and will do the right treatment. So many things people are insecure about are just them needing a posing class or a gym routine.
@saintessa

Damn thats sad. When I was 21 I looked at myself in the mirror once, was in a medative state perhaps or more open minded and I realised how I was looking at myself in the past was dismorphic. People see us in motion/different expressions/as a whole. We're not always "photogenic." It was such a relief! I still have days where I feel self concious and not very attractive or just ugh. But it's so much better than focusing on how I didn't like my mouth, or one eye, or hair.

The gym culture has pretty much gave people now a reason to be insecure and to not attend the gym. Too many weirdos in there recording themselves and posting it online to either mock or inflate their ego. A few act inappropriate by how their dress or bothering people “for content” etc I can see why people are building their own gym home. People are too entitled when it comes to public spaces that they place themselves in. Funny how in the past people would say “nobody cares what youre doing at the gym” now it’s an actual thing where they do.

Surprised no one has made an Influencer Gym. Just market it as a 24/7 aesthetic gym where each machine has something enclosing it so no one “photo bombs it.” Plus add people want to be members because it is “exclusive” and it proves they are a “real content creator.” So these fitness influencers can have their content and leave the rest of us alone.

The two men you showed as the example for doing good funny vows were actually adorable, like I for real genuinely laughed. But the one dude from a few months back was just vile, that’s a man that secretly hates that woman and gave her a shut up ring so he absolutely wanted to humiliate her. Her vows were even more telling than his. She really thinks this below average in every way man is her Prince Charming when he’s basically Gaston. It’s sad she defended that crap

My SO and I tease each other like that too so I love relationship banter. There is something so sweet about you and your partner being able to cutely roast each other but obviously knowing where the line is and knowing the difference between goofy cute banter and repulsive s*xual and cheating jokes at your bride’s expense. It felt like the vow version of a man shoving cake into their wife’s face so hard she falls over.

Cuz I'd tear something working out at too high intensity cuz of a *genetic disorder* like damn bro, just say you want disabled people gone. I hope we can leave behind the whole idea of disorders or illnesses being “quirky”. It’s so frustrating how people continue to self diagnose themselves without any actual evidence; other than experiencing isolated symptoms that most people will normally experiencing during their lifetime. It’s like now everyone has ADHD, which is very upsetting to those with ADHD like myself. It’s not “cute” or “quirky”. It makes academics and day-to-day life incredibly difficult, but now it’s apparently this widespread issue that everyone has. I feel it invalidates the experiences of those who do have ADHD and it’s harder to have people take me seriously when I tell them I have ADHD. I know many people don’t have adequate access to healthcare and may not be able to receive an assessment and/or a diagnosis. However, you can’t just claim to have something you don’t without any evidence or a diagnosis. I really hope we will be done with the “trend” that should have never been one in the first place.

Yeah, I mean, I have ADHD and people I've known my whole life are suddenly saying they have it too. Like out of nowhere. I mean, they very well could, but they never shared about finding it out, they just randomly said they had it. Not that everyone needs to be medicated, but they aren't. So I do question if they just saw a tik tok and said "yeah that's me". This is multiple people too. And then they write off the story I was saying g about my struggles w adhd. Which my diagnosed friends don't write off.

I can see both sides. For a long time I self diagnosed myself with dyscalculia (a learning disability similar to dyslexia, but math) because I couldn't afford to be tested. A lot of places in my area charged about $2,000. The lowest I found was a university, and they charged $600. On the other hand, it's fucking annoying. I have people telling me that I'm autistic because of what they see on tik tok. Thing is, I also have PTSD, and a lot of those symptoms overlap with eachother. I keep telling them "No, I don't have it." But apparently I'm a dirty liar. (Despite the doctors and professionals I go to saying I don't too.)

@@phi1105 I completely get what you’re saying, healthcare is ridiculously expensive and it is saddening to see that people can’t receive help without having to pay a huge bill. Isn’t it sad that the BEST gym experience I’ve ever had in my life was after I almost died from having breast cancer and went to a rehab wellness facility, because it was truly just about building back strength and getting healthy. It was just cancer and cardiac patients, there was no pressure of any kind. No worrying if I looked hot. No worrying about if other people were watching me. Just lots of genuine encouragement. Like why can’t it be like that everywhere? Now that I’m in remission, I hate going to the regular gym so I just bought a treadmill instead💀😭

Thankfully gym TikTok is not the norm (most of the time) at the gym. I’ve been going to the gym since I was a pre teen; I currently belong to three clubs and go twice a day, sometimes more; I help my son train and sometimes I train with friends. I’ve come across these “micro influencers” a few times: they set up their equipment, get the footage they want, change clothes, change hairstyles and get some more footage then they leave🙄. Mostly, people at the gym are kind, considerate, willing to help if needed and for the most part minding their own business…. It’s those terrible few that ruin everything! My son is 16, he’s a big gorgeous and fit football player and even he gets anxiety of being the victim of some idiot’s recordings, I hate this so much for my child😔… that should be the least of his worries. Happy New Year, Salem… may we all do and be better going forward 🦆🫶🏼.

About a month ago, I heard a phrase that really stuck with me. “The first year after losing a loved one is your free year.” It’s 1 year you get to use to do whatever you need. This year was seriously the worst. And almost a year after losing my mother, I felt like I wasted this free year. So, for 2024 I want to do more things that make me feel accomplished or good - and not like I’m wallowing in filth. I want to do the things I love: writing, hiking, day trips, traveling, and creating with friends and my boyfriend. And I hope others can see that phrase and realize that it’s never too late to try to reclaim your life after a horrible experience. That it’s okay, even if all you do is manage to get out of bed. It’s not really a New Year’s resolution, but resolutions are hard to keep. We should all try to focus on strengthening the bonds we have with the people we care about 🥰

Last year there was a woman at the gym who was doing her routine behind the treadmill she was using but she was RIGHT in the walkway with no room for anyone to walk around her 🤦🏻‍♀️ A guy walked up to her and then went to step on a treadmill to get around her but he didn't know it was still running~ FAST. He stepped on it and it launched him and he ate it pretty badly. This GIRL just continued on, didn't help him, didn't apologize, just kept doing her routine!!!!! This was at Planet Fitness. My husband and I were horrified.😢

What I also loathe about all the gym/fitness content is how these people tend to dismiss other kinds of activity or fitness goals that don't align with their weird just muscle building work outs. I saw a video, in which a guy "corrected" trampoline cardio nd called it useless, because it was not the most effeicient way to do cardio and it bambozzled me, because obviouly people do it to move in a way that is fun. Generally this kicked off the question in my head how gym bros react to other sports like volleyball, rope skipping, etc. where you not only train certain muscle groups at certain times ...
@aaliyahfoster2705
@aaliyahfoster2705 5 ай бұрын
Trampoline cardio is honestly a really useful tool for building flexibility and mobility for your legs, and it's a very effective workout if you want to improve in weightlifting exercises like the squat or Bulgarian split as well. I took a trampoline class once after thinking the same thing, but it's surprised me with how free and happy you become, while still breaking a huge sweat, and I'd be willing to do it again. It cuts out the judgment of my old cycle group fitness for me. Wasn't fast enough on my bike to keep up with their pace and felt very out of place when the instructors and other people made it look effortless.

It depends which type of gym you go to. A big-box chain like Anytime Fitness or one that tends to run primarily on personal training-based commission is less likely to have people filming themselves for social media points than say Bradley Martyn's Zoo Culture in Sherman Oaks, which was opened by the KZfaqr himself.

OMG I've been wondering if I was the only one who hated comedians. As you said, especially recent ones. It seems there's nothing clever - usually just sexual innuendo or "toilet humor" that might amuse adolescent boys. I DO have a sense of humor, but humor I appreciate is more in the Monty Python zone. And a couple older sitcoms - like M*A*S*H had the art of appropriate use of humor down pat. Best New Year to anyone reading this - be happy and be kind!

I think gyms should bear the burden of making and enforcing rules to restrict filming period and photography (of others). People typically pay good money to be able to work out and be healthy and should be able to do so in peace. It’s already intimidating enough without the stress of worrying about essentially a new type of bullying.

That's just the internet version of reality. People use it to vent their frustrations (fair), but this makes it seem worse than it is. OR people post over the top pics or tiktoks or whatever of them being "happy". Truly happy couples and people don't really need to post about it. There is no need to get others to like or even care. Adding on to the whole make up and beauty care thing for younger kids they don’t need it. Getting the dental work out of the way at the beginning of the year is a smart move. I've been through major dental work and In my experience so far the process suuuuuuucks , But the results has been worth it. This is from a dentaphobe. You can do this!! If things are not going well say so be up front with your dental care people. I basically walk in and tell them the story of when I broke a brand new baby dentist because I didn't know that my phobia was so bad. We got through getting the shot done even with topical numbing and I started shaking and crying and that I was really upset cuz like we did the worst part in my opinion the shot but he's like now you got to go home and we'll we'll get you the senative prescription. And the poor guy was like a first-year dentist I felt so bad but I also had to face the fact that I had to deal with a phobia and so now we all know what the steps are to get me into the dentist chair.

Prank channels are an excellent non-gym example of how some people feel entitled to make any public space uncomfortable for non-consenting strangers for the sake of views. I may just be lucky, but I don't actually see that behavior in any of the 3 gyms I personally go to, only on the internet. Now obviously, these videos are being filmed somewhere, but I don't see it as tied to gyms so much as the influence of the internet.

If gym influencers are being disrespectful while they're at the gym, then gym management needs to know about it. They shouldn't allow ppl to record in their gyms if it means that their members are being put in awkward or straight up unwanted situations. That's not what members are paying for. It needs to be taken to gym management, so they can take appropriate action and cancel the memberships of those that can't respect their fellow gym peers.

Theres really not much of an issue with younger kids starting skincare, it isnt that uncommon to start puberty at age 9 or 10 so many kids have to deal with their acne and breakouts accordingly

i started having bad pimples on my forehead and back when I was 11. my family was strictly against me using anything and claimed I was too young and those products will only make it worse which led me to using "home remedies" such as a cut up lemon and baking soda. I wish someone would just told me to get a good moisturizer and gel-wash.

As it pertains to the gym portion of the video, why can’t people be happy for other people trying to be healthy? It’s akin to someone making fun of someone taking their medication because they are trying to be healthy. It’s literal insanity.

hey salem! happy new year too! in 2024, my resolutions, some that i've started even before, are to gain muscle and work out more, get back into dancing (especially street dance), hopefully get into my favorite program, fine arts, in my current university (i transferred to my dream uni last august!!), and hopefully have a new phone, shoes, SSD card, and gadgets
