You make the most beautiful and splendid flowers I have ever seen. Some people paint petal by petal and it doesn't look connected. But you paint these from a soft dreamy center outward and it makes the flowers look connected from start to finish! Amazing! And you make it look easy, which of course took many years of experience to make it look so. These look so real, I can almost smell the sweet fragrance!

I just did a practice attempt at painting this. My version of the painting is fascinating due to the various colour blends and edges. I learned so much and am sure I can improve the techniques on the next attempt. Obviously it is very crude compared to yours, but thank you!

I've watch this several times and did a painting with three roses using the format here. Turned out really good and I learned a lot each time. However, what direction do roses release their spiral? Clockwise or counter clockwise? Or both? The other brhing that might be good to know is the direction of the light source when starting the painting. It appears light is coming from overhead but to the right because the flowers appear to be highlighted in the upper but slightly right.

the use of raw sienna intrigues me...on many of your other demos, indian yellow is favored. I typically use new gamboge instead. I'd lean towards using yellow ochre here rather than raw sienna, but I'll try the latter. Also adding burnt umber...I'd have likely gone to alizarin crimson. Will try your palette for a change. Always good to try different combinations.

AWESOME Demo and Results! I'm going to give it a go. I am curious as to how your paper continues to stay wet. Seems like mine always dries too fast. I use Arches all cotton paper so not sure what the problem is. Thanks so much.
