Phish is the greatest thing to ever happen to me. I’m so glad I randomly spun Rift. I never looked back. As someone who is in recovery, he is a massive inspiration to me.

Did you watch the video? At 10:10 he calls him “a guy who I think is the greatest guitar player ever” and likens him to Michael Jordan and said “he was the heart and soul of the band, even the other band members knew that” earlier in the video. When you give that kind of praise, not sure that not saying his name matters at all.

I love phish Phish has seemingly as many people that hate them that love them. There are huge shit heads in both categories. The former being ones who are so uncomfortable with the bands raging popularity they need to yell out and try to rationalize it somehow, always failing, the latter being closeminded snot cloths that perpetuate the supposed qualities of the latter. Ha so funny I love phish 😀

He only had a certain amount of time obviously to talk and interview him so it was a bit rushed. the interview overall should have been a little longer :)

omg, this interviewer is fucking terrible, and keeps cutting Trey off. There's like 4-5 things I wish Trey would have gone on about, but the interviewer interjected and changed the subject. WHAT SONSG DID YOU LEARN THAT YOU DIDN'T PLAY?

I just don't get the infatuation with this cat... Having seen the Dead 22 times growing up and having been part of the Jam scene in the 90's it's always seemed to me that trey was just in the right place at the right time... Musically Phish was ok.. Not great. The songs always tried so hard, the jams so monotonous and specifically his chops, really repetitive. I think his solo stuff is better and I'll be catching him in the summer.. I'm not a hater at all and I'm happy for any musician that gets to where he is in a career.. I think it's just more of a commentary on our culture that being "ok" is enough and if the hype gets behind it that's all it really takes.. Respect to his fans and to you all Just an observation

I always felt they were the center of which the jam scene got its momentum in the early 90's, and they were the very quirky and original and had a sense of humor to their music. Yet I don't think any other band could have taken their place if they hadn't been there, not Blues Traveler, or ARU, or the Black Crowes. Phish had a certain artistic demeanor that resonated with the late generation x demographic, that other bands couldn't really provide. But their sound had a lot to do with their appeal as well. Trey may have been repetitive sometimes, but his guitar playing didn't have a "lick" of commercialized tackiness or genericness; and that their songs were coming from a more loose frame of mind, not exclusively steeped in heavy handed subject matter like love or heartbreak, caused tons of a certain type of person to gravitate to them as a band.

Trey is an eclectic musical... master... genius.... some of the things he’s wrote ie... Reba... other masters.. fully trained theorized... sight reading professionals... can’t play... He is in the very few at the top alive today....

It’s okay to not understand things. But I do feel a little bad for you because the phish catalog has so much to enjoy, and they continue to be great. Maybe better than ever. Talk about longevity
