Dak Prescott can’t make it to 2024 as the Dallas Cowboy’s starting quarterback for two reasons. One is that his cap number in 2024 is 59 million. And the second reason is that if he negotiates a new deal, it will be for over 52 million a year. That would mean that someone that is even more productive on the Cowboys would not get paid. That is unacceptable in the long term.

Foreals prescott owes a lot to ceedee lamb for screwing up his record. Everybody thinks that it’s a threat to prescott. And i believe that what goes around comes around prescott, you thought you could collect money from your own teammates and not giving them a fair payment. As a big fan of the dallas cowboys, ive been saying “ i rather have cooper rush as all time QB” but now this is a great choice for the cowboys. So for prescott now you can start taking money from your new team and see how many people will hate you now.

Trey had a fair shot… he doesn’t fit that system. Kyle Shanahan is going nowhere soon. The Shanahan’s are apart of the 49er family, he would have to walk away. I agree that Trey is faster than Dak and more elusive. And i agree that this is a big opportunity in Dallas for Trey. But Trey could never beat out Purdy… Purdy is the epitome of the “west coast offense” Quarterback.

We are men… we can’t be afraid of the unknown. Men take risks to succeed to the next level. With your line of thinking, the Cowboys will always be on that same “just good enough level”. That line of thinking works better for women, because someone ends up helping them. But as men, no one will help us, so we have to help ourselves. Trey Lance was the starter for the 49er's until he got hurt. Dallas needs to let him play a lot in preseason and see how he does . They said he had a lot of promise so give him a chance before making a mistake and shipping him off and he shines for another team.

49er's got rid of trey lance for a reason. We all saw him in the big game before the trade. He was deer in the headlights, did not know what to do. Cowboys should unload him. 9 years of failure with Prescott is enough. An idea is to trade Precostt to the Patriots for their 3 round pick . There are really good QB's in the draft. For Prescott, there is always the XFL.

Any trade for Prescott would be a plus for the Cowboys. He has a no-trade, and no one else gives him the cache that the Cowboys do, financially. So he makes any trade difficult but I would be looking to move up in the draft and get another QB. You never know.

Daks contract has a no trade clause. The structure of his contract also has the cowboys taking a 36 million dollar void money hit in 2025. No one in the League could afford not to resign someone with that dead money. Trey needs at least two years to develop. The dak led cowboys were ranked #4 in points per game and #1 in red zone scoring percentage. Everyone is so frustrated and I get it but he’s gonna be our starter for awhile until lance is PROPERLY ready, so why add more pressure onto Dak by calling for Trey to be the starter so soon. The truth is when Dak is healthy he’s one of the best quarterbacks In the league. I just think he’s a victim of this desperate Super Bowl hungry fan base. Just enjoy the ride.

Full disclosure, season ticket holder here. I like paying for games where we win, I'd hate going to games that we would always lose so I have mixed emotions about Dak. The facts are Trey Lance 2025 cap hit is $22.4 million and Dak's 2025 cap hit is $40.5 million. The Trey Lance trade made no sense with these numbers. The Jones boys made a bad move and that 4th round draft pick they gave for Trey Lance cost us a RB in the 2024 draft. IF they rework Dak's deal, then they will have to trade Trey which means that 4th rounder was a lost pick. IF they trade Dak, then Trey Lance is a free agent after 2025 and they still have a high dollar investment in a QB. They are really in a mess.

22.4 million is not a high dollar investment at QB. That is a cheap investment at QB, and is 18 million less than Dak’s. The whole point is not reworking Dak’s deal and playing Trey Lance on a show me deal in 2025. If he produces than you pay him, and there is optimism. You don’t pay Dak because you know what he is. Be like the Broncos and eat the money and look forward.

@@Dbo_Sports, I think you're missing the point. It's a $62.9 million cap hit in 2025 so someone has to go or Dak has to get a deal redone. Keep in mind the Cowboys can't trade Dak since he has a no trade clause. So more than likely he get's a new deal and Trey gets traded. And that 4th round draft pick is a waste and we missed out on a RB in the 2024 draft. I don't want Dak either but it's not much that can be done.

The only issue that I have with your statement is “top tier” quarterback. That would be with the assumption that Dak is a top tier quarterback. I would argue against that. He plays for “America’s Team” so he is a marquee attraction. But he may be outside of the Top Ten Quarterbacks in the NFL.

That’s nonsense! In 2006 they lost to the Seahawks in the playoffs, in a game where they outplayed them. In 2007 they were the best team in the NFC and got beat by the Miracle Giants. In 2009 they went to the playoffs and loss to Favre’s Vikings. They could’ve won the division any time over the next 5 years but lost out at week 16 and such. They lost to Green Bay with the Dez catch, in a year where Dallas was the only team in two years to beat Seattle in Seattle. And that was a 12-4 team. Romo never had the offensive line that was built for him the year Dak got drafted. Don’t rewrite history. Dak was given an elite offensive line and a top 3 back from his rookie season throughout. Don’t be afraid to make a change.

No.. they don’t run the Mike Shanahan version of the West Coast. They run the Mike Holmgren/Mike Sherman version of the West Coast. Which means no zone blocking. And if they do utilize it, it’s at a much less occurrence than the 49ers and the Packers. But yes they run the West Coast… they just run it out of shotgun, which defeats the purpose.

Just as Andy Reid and Mike McCarthy are Holmgren disciples. So Green Bay in the 90’s we’re running the exact same thing as the 49ers in the 80’s. Mike McCarthy comes from the Bill Walsh tree. It's shanahan kubiak scheme. It's an offense that uses west coast tendencies but it's not west coast itself. It's actually started from dan reeves and alex Gibbs wide zone blocking then later uses west coast varieties.

I rooted for Don Meridith and Roger Staubach. As for you disliking Dak Prescott. We are all entitled to our own opinions. BUT we have had crappy coaches. I am sure you like Micah Parsons (as do I). Listen to what he told reporters when they asked why he didn't line up to stop the run (in which Green Bay killed us). Micah told the reporter "I can only line up where the coach wanted me to line up" Dak was able to call the entire game when we played the Vikings. The Vikings had a great defense 2 years ago. Dak beat them soundly. Watch the Green Bay Packer game this season. Watch CeeDee Lamb walking off the field when it was third down. Head down and ready to kick a can. Our offense plays are childish. Last year (before the "here we gooo" cadence). the announce called the play as Dak was saying "Red 42, Red 42". The announce said "this is a run to the right side". and it was a run to the right side. I live in Ohio and the Dallas Cowboys have an offense coordinator with the last name Schottenheimer. PLEASE stop buying these coaches from the Cleveland Browns. Schottenheimer sucked. The Cleveland Browns have NEVER been to a Super Bowl....let alone win a Super Bowl. Also....The Jones family hired a coach named Mike McCarthy. He sucks. YOU like numbers??? How about these numbers. Mike McCarthy was the Green Bay Packer's head coach for 12 years and in those 12 years he has ONE Super Bowl ring. ONE. What kind of record is that? Dan Quin literally tanked the playoff game against the Packers. Kept 6 corners in the game when the Packers wee just running the ball against us. AND then he goes to the Washington Redskins (I know their new name) and wants to bring his assistant coaches with him. HOW shady is that? Play chess in your lifetime and you do NOT blame the pieces for losing a game. a smart player knows how to use the pieces he has to win. Dak is better than most quarterbacks in the league right now. Let him call some of these games. IF ( I said "if") he cannot win these games...then we move on. These horrible coaches have told our QB's to stay in the pocket and let the wide receivers catch the ball. MOST (I said "most") quarterbacks give the run threat. Let's blame some of these big head coaches who refuse to give another player credit for their talents. Demarcus Ware was a great player...He went to Denver where the coaches knew how to use them.

One Super Bowl is better than none. Yes Dan Quinn was an issue as well, and he’s gone at the moment. If you can’t get rid of everyone, and you could only get rid of two… then Dak and Dan Quinn are gone. Simply because Rodgers best years we’re with McCarthy, in a league where the physicality was still present to an extent. You can’t touch the receivers and you can’t touch the QB, and Dak still can’t get it done.

Dak's proven over and over that he sucks. Trey hasn't had his chance, but he's tens of millions of dollars cheaper than Dak. Just watch, though, Jerry's going to resign Dak to a huge contract just as he kept McCarthy as coach.

Makes sense to me if Jerry Jones took a chance with Tony Romo, and then took a chance with Dak Prescott. Why wouldn’t he take a chance with Trey Lance so that he could pay all those players . I mean that’s what he’s been doing.
