Out of all the Tonka restorations that I've seen done by everyone this one has to be the nicest and coolest one I've seen. Its about time someone customized a Tonka into something modern. I love it. ~Kevin

Holy crap!!! Thank you very much for NOT restoring this back to stock. I've watched time of toy and tool restorations. It's about time someone did a customizing thing to one. This turned out great. I was like "WTF" when you went blue with the whitewalls but damn, that looks cooool. Do more of THIS!!

I think the plasti dip parts need a thorough cleaning with alcohol? Seems like what was failing was small spots where there was oil or some other contaminant?

Maybe it went wrong because you fixed the ink with that tape? 🤔 The first part looked great. Please ad a link for that material, eBay? Go ahead with your restoring but don't use that blind rivets for the visible parts, please. 😪 Kind regards from Germany and stay healthy

First of all, I'm sorry about the translator. - When immersing objects, you have to gently move them so that they have material to cover. You move them in the opposite direction, so you don't have to stick to them. - Before you use the activator, you need to gently get rid of all air bombs from under the foil.

That was an awesome build! Don't let the naysayers get you down. You do you! This is YOUR hobby, YOUR channel. No one is telling THEM how to restore old toys! As far as the hydrodipping: I've done it a few times, but I've used spray paint instead of the film. My guess is, some air bubbles developed between the film and the part. Then (again, this is PURELY a guess on my part) as you swirled the part under water, the film gave way over the trapped air bubbles. I'd suggest dipping the part through the film just as you did, but then hold it still under water while you push the film away with the other hand. Slowly bring the part out of the water, then with a dripping wet sponge, press the film onto the part, collapsing any air bubbles - don't rub the sponge over it, as that may rub the film off of the part. I also suspect the bubbles would tend to develop using a film, and tend NOT to develop using spray paint. Again, I am no expert, having never used film, and I have hydro-dipped only five items in spray paint. Try it again sometime! I'd like to see the results. Best of luck to you, sir! Good day!

I ran a sandblaster at an old job. But instead of holding the hose in my hand and squeezing the trigger, it was affixed to the top and the sand was controlled by a foot pedal. That way I had both hands free to turn and maneuver the part under the sand flow. Made it much easier.

Hydro dipping is a pain in the butt. However try putting the blue tape boarder on both sides, then when you put it in the water bend it in to a u shape and gently place it. Also make sure the bucket is always clean. And check the water temp, some of these things have different temp requirements to work proper.
