The Switch is my JRPG machine, I like playing handheld mode around the house and being able to instantly put it in sleep mode, then pick it back up.

the visuals aren't that bad on the switch, but you can def tell it's not as crisp. but i don't think it's that big of a difference at the same time.

PS4 version runs better but it's not groundbreaking. You can pick whatever version is most convenient for you. Enjoy Switch and PS4 owners👍🏽🙏🏽.

Yeah, Switch loads faster, character models look almost identical. PS4 has sharper textures on everything else. Slight problem with item pop-in for the castle shot on Switch. Yeah, the option for portability will have me playing this on Switch, like DQXI. The PS4 version is beautiful, though, and a great choice for anyone! :) SquEnix is getting pretty good at Switch/PS4 ports. :)

Switch is quicker. PS4 runs better with a full on 60fps gameplay.

I am honestly suprised how well the switch version stacks up. The only difference which is a bit hard to swollow for me as a switch user is the framerate, since it gives the whole game another feeling. Not that it is really bad on switch, but 60 to 30 fps is just a noticeable difference.

The big difference is that the PS4 version runs at 60fps. Which for an action RPG is a very nice upgrade. It's not essential, but it's more than enough for me to choose that version. I tried the demo myself last night on both consoles, and the PS4 version just feels so much better to play.

Since you neglected the steam version i did it for you, it runs at 120 fps or 60 fps which ever you prefer with no frame drop, its loading screen last about 5.045 seconds and the graphics beat both of the other versions. But still get which ever version y'all prefer just felt compelled to do this for people wondering.

anyone notice that during the graphics comparison, when u see the castle, there are artifacts missing from the switch version that are in the ps4, such as the tower tops, flags, extra barrels. Looking at 3:18 as comparison. I wonder why nintendo removed these, also wonder what else they removed/changed

Definitely buying this on both systems to show support to Square-Enix and thank them for making this. It looks fantastic, they didn't half-ass it unlike the Secret of Mana remake. I cannot wait to see what all they added to this.

I'm noticing that the switch has overall slower framerate and lower resolution, but it loads faster. Other than that, almost everything looks pretty much the same. These are both good ports.

Switch is missing a few shadows, and is a little choppy in places, but can’t really tell a difference other than that.

The 30 frames sadly kill it for me on the switch. still impressive how it's holding up so well.

I downloaded both demos and jumped back and forth between them. On a little screen, the resolution won't be noticeable. But on a big screen (I play on a 4k projector) the Switch version's lower resolution is very obvious. It also runs at a lower frame rate. A great option if you want to take it on-the-go, but for the luxury model, I'll be going for PS4.

Pretty impressing, really well optimized in my opinion. Id say the biggest difference on the cutscenes is that the resolution of the textures is a bit blurrier but its not that big of a difference

Really impressed with what I played in the demo, especially when you compare it to its predecessor's remake. It's a shame the full release is a month away, but I might pick this up then. (This is coming from someone who doesn't generally like RPG's that much)

So resolution, frame rate and pop-in for switch, vs slightly longer loads times on ps4. I mean, already pre-ordered for the switch, but the demo definitely made me feel the stuttering every so often was annoying.

I already played the SNES version like 20 times over the years... But I'm buying both! Switch version = portable, play while I'm outside. I'll Play the PS4 version while I'm at home. I loved this game that much, it was/is a very fun and entertaining experience.😁

The difference in quality is definitely noticeable between the two systems and that doesn't help me make a decision at all. PS4 looks the best and I'm not worried about a second or two longer of load times on already long load times, but the Switch means I can take it wherever I want and being a JRPG... I'd be doing that a lot, probably... A decision to be made.

Load times depend on if you're using the standard PS4 HDD 5400rpm or did you replace it with something better. I replaced mine with a hybrid drive with 8GB of NAND and 1.2TB of standard 7200rpm hdd. Anyway, I hope the Switch would load faster given the memory type.

Besides the loading times gap, there is not so much différences between the 2 versions, but with some quotes however: The ps4 version seems sharper but the big difference is the Switch version that gets some framerate drops sometimes ( but not seen on this video). I'll just add that the last Lise introduction scene (when she hold her hairband) is less emotionnal than the original game. In the original game she's crying while running for the beginning of her quest to rescue Eliot. Here the facial animation are not so good to express the concern saddly. But hey I'm still excited to get my hands on that game 😛

Does this game run at 4K on a PS4 Pro? If so then definitely going with the PS4 version.

PC mos definetly for both quality and loadtime. With ssd I get 2 sec loading. With 4K this game looks much more bautiful and alive

I'm going to assume that the loading speed is due to the switch using flash memory vs the PS4 HD. Though I am not all that familiar with PS4

After having played the demo on Switch I can safely say that graphics don't really matters in a game like this one. I mean the characters looks great but the environements are a bit lacking. Really nice atmosphere but a bit empty at time. So a graphic downgrade won't even be that noticeable. Even if it feels much much better to play at 60FPS. I will go for the Switch version, but PS4 version looks great.

This game looks really awesome. A knight, lancer, monk, ninja, White mage, and black mage to pick from never gets old.

WOW, the PS4 is more powerful what a twist!!!!!! No, but seriously, it looks a little less polished, however, cartridges load way faster and the Switch version is guaranteed to be censor-free, so it's a clear win on this one.

Weird, My PS4 Pro loads way, Way, WAY faster than this video. Maybe this video is using a PS4 with one of those shitty internal HDD that some PS4's shipped with. I think the PS4 has had 3 or 4 HDDs used and of those 4, 1 is o.k, 2 are meh and the fourth was ass. Also, the Switch version, the camera just feels off. Like very much so. Super awkward during combat and exploring. the PS4 camera is crisp and fluid. The Switch one almost has a weird deley to the start and stop of movement.

I'm blind af so I can hardly notice 30 or 60 fps unless pointed out so I'll be going with the switch version.

I would have preferred more of a graphics dip to hit that 60fps they have on the PS4. It makes a huge difference in animation

Woof. Been playing the steam demo, and load times are less than 5 seconds... I was going to be getting it for switch, but I might just have to grab it for pc..

The only differences are resolution, framerate and cloud shadows, otherwise it looks basically the same.

People will bash on the Switch version, but here's a thing. The Switch version is a portable game while PS4 is not. Depends on you to choose.

60 fps, trophies and a slight visual upgrade vs portability and faster load times. I'll probably get the PS4 version to play and buy a Switch copy just to have in the collection later down the line when it's like $20.

This game looks like it was made for the switch then it was ported to the ps4, but it's nice to know that the switch version doesn't look like ass compared to the past version. Trials of Mana seems like it's gonna sell more on the switch than the ps4 but the question is how well is it gonna sell, I was already planning on buying on the switch from day 1 the music convinced me.

If you live in NA, then you probably wouldn’t care as much, but the Switch version has more languages available than the PlayStation version. I’m not dissing on that but sometimes variety is pleasant and the English voice of the child character isn’t exactly pleasant to your ears.

It's a bit of a shame that the Switch version only runs at 30fps. Some solid action titles on Switch run at 30+ and it would've been nice for this as well.

So yea... I'm gonna point some things out here, firstly a good microSD card will likely smoke the PS4 HDD for load times (which in this video the microSD doesn't seem to be very good, a class 6 at best maybe) and conversely an SSD in a PS4 will probably smoke even the best microSD in the Switch... so you can't make load comparisons without specifically saying what microSD the Switch is using and if the PS4 is running a standard HDD or SSD. Secondly, in docked mode at least with the Switch CPU and GPU overclocked to 1.5GHz \ 844MHz (which are both well within the Tegra X1 specs, so no, you won't kill anything, temps shouldn't increase much at all) you'll likely get a somewhat cleaner image as well where the game will stick to 720p (or higher) much more frequently.

What made the original game fun was playing with a Second person. Why is this Remake only 1 player??? Unless they plan on Adding that later...

The Switch version is a huge improvement over what I played at PAX last year. I swear, the Switch version they had playable last September had me very concerned, it was extremely muddy looking and was probably running sub 720p docked. Having played an hour of the demo last night it is looking very good.

Worth noting that the Switch version has less data to load aka lower res character models and such, so that's probably a factor in the load times. Switch version is clearly running at a lower resolution and at only 30FPS while the PS4 is running at a higher resolution with sharper graphics in general and at a full 60FPS. Still though, there isn't much difference at all graphically aside for the resolution difference. The frame rate is also to be expected. May just go for the PS4 version for this one as I really like having the 60FPS, and I have a PS4 Pro too, not sure if this game runs in 4K or not. Hoping so.

PS4 looks great nut there's not a huge difference between Switch and PS4 visuals for this game, i prefer faster loading and portability and i don't care that much about 30fps since i grew up on N64 games so Switch is my choice

No one's mentioning how the PC port runs at a locked/smooth 60fps. (Or higher.) 1080p as well. If you install it on a basic 2.5" SSD, then the load time is mere seconds. I'd say PS4/PC would be your best choice unless that portability controls your life that much. Unless you're jobless, a bum, in school, or just have this big thing about playing on a park bench with the sunlight pretty much ruining the experience, portability shouldn't be this big of a thing anymore...

Look for me , Portability wins every time. So either way got this on Switch. I have to many games on the PS4 backlog anyway.

The switch has shorter loading times, but a lower resolution and framerate and pop-ins, which i can live with. While I think the Voice Acting is mediocre, the writing is fine. There were some scenes i really enjoyed though. I haven't played the original yet, so i don't know what to expect from the story, but i hope it's better than Secret of Mana's. The combat system felt a bit like the one in the Warriors games, but i hope the abilities you unlock later on change it up a bit. All in all i'm, even if the graphical quality left me a bit mixed, still interested in the game. -I mean i like Pokemon SwoShi and that game's visuals are all over the place-

Man, BIG difference between the 2. The PS4 version has a higher native resolution and looks MUCH better, and runs at 60FPS vs 30FPS for the Switch. Thats a no brainer for me, Switch doesnt even come close.

I bought it for the switch. And i doesn't care about the loading times or something like graphics. I like this game. And that's most important.

I played the demo on ps4... but I have a ps4 pro... and I think load times were better? Or maybe I was just having way too much fun with this game to care about the load times. PS4 for me though. Already pre-ordered back in September and I know I am going to absolutely love this game. I am looking way more to this than FF7 remake. The game feels just like it did on the snes and this time, the remade ost is actually spot on and it sounds just like I remember it rather than trying to do its own thing.

So basically for portability and faster loading with high resell value you go for switch and for slightly improved graphics and 60fps or if you are not in a hurry to purchase brand new and willing to wait for a cheaper price then go for ps4

Switch has lower res character and environment textures so will obviously load faster (granted the character ones are barely noticeable). Sure does run a little choppy and have noticeable pop-in on Switch, too. Looks like the switch...does...something else lower res too, perhaps just the resolution? Evident at 4:55 if you watch Reisz's purple helmet thing...maybe some sort of blur filter?

Almost identical, but the Switch version is portable so that's a huge boon.

My PS4 is broken, so I’m probably getting this game on the Switch by default, but it’s nice that it loads a lot faster on the Switch. Also, that boy Elliot is an idiot. Didn’t his parents tell him not to talk to strangers with blatantly evil-looking armor? Even then, why the hell would he give said evil stranger access to the very-important-looking crystal just so he could see some more magic tricks?

Honestly, the video is missing one. The PC version will probably be the best version for someone who doesn't need/want the portability of the Switch. I'm impressed with the load times and unsurprised by the bit of pop-in (DQ11 also had some pop-in). Even at a lower frame rate the Switch version doesn't seem to be having any screen tearing issues, and that's probably a more important issue.

Interesting some but only some of the colors look better on ps4 and I can see some very slight shading differences but otherwise they're same I suspect the game was first developed with switch in mind

I played the demo on both systems today. I could live with the lower resolution on Switch, but there are frame pacing issues and it looks really jerky sometimes. Textures load slowly too.

I tried the ps4 demo, the game is having good performance and fun to play. Pre-ordered since the demo (hooray! 2 more days) . But one down side for me is my ps4 pro fan getting loud throughout the demo... Just like a jet engine taking off. Hopefully the full version will not have such issue.

I will probably play it on the switch just because of portability, because not only is resolution and textures better on PS4, on the Pro it sticks almost always on 60fps, while it's mostly 30fps on the Switch and it makes a definite difference on battles.

Well this test doesn't mean much if you don't give us some background information. Was this game installed on the internal hard drive or an external one (load times can vary greatly b/w the two) and was it running off a disc or digital only? Was the switch in portable or docked mode? Was it running off a downloaded copy or a cartridge? You need to provide data like this if you're going to post videos that are suppose to analyze this stuff, otherwise its kinda meaningless.
