I am SO glad they took this remake more serious than Secret of Mana. As much as i loved it on the SNES, Seiken Densetsu 3 has always been objectively the better game. I just didn't have access to it back in the days so SoM has more nostalgia value for me. But this Remake of Trials of Mana looks absolutely amazing, can't wait to try the Demo later today.

I agree that Charlotte's "problems" are not the fault of the actress, but I also get the idea they gave her the lines with zero context. There's a part in the Cascade Caverns where she's crying after being saved, but it doesn't sound like it in the least. It just sounds like she's talking normally.

Trial of Mana's remake is exactly what a remake is suppose to be, something that could've been for Secret of Mana's remake. Looks like Secret of Mana remake was a trial and error of sort, and Trials of Mana remake the real deal.

I do hope its not TOO overshadowed by FF7 remake to be forgotten too badly. Granted its 2 weeks ahead of FF7 but I know people tend to have their "game of the month"

I just discovered the Mana series through Collection of Mana on Switch. Played through the first GB game and loved it to death. I'm now about 30% into Secret of Mana and it's... ok. I can see why it was so loved back in the day and I'm enjoying it, but yes, it has quite a few gameplay issues and aged poorly. Never played Trials of Mana, will get to it as soon as I beat SoM, but man, this remake looks pretty good. Thanks for sharing your impressions on it!

Finished the demo over an hour ago and I instantly pre ordered it. I can’t wait!

The environments are legit 1 to 1 so much so its insane but instead of the areas being split into smaller sections its just one big map. Its literally like your the character that was in the 2d game. Like you finally actually see what the characters saw.

After have played the demo for a while, I can say that I'm totally in love with this game. The graphics are superbs and the sound track is AMAZING! I think they should antecipate the launch due to the Corona quarentine.

I’m playing trials of mana for the first time now on the switch. It’s decent enough. Certainly it has aged , I couldn’t see myself playing it nowadays on a console but handheld has made it very comfortable. I’m looking to give this remake a shot after I plays trails of cold steel 3 in May

I really do hope there's some technical stuff with the combat. While I overall enjoyed it for what it was, I hope theres more than a simple 3 hit combo and simple percentage buffs. (CS system is pretty neat so I can imagine progressing on ways to build up the CS system quicker)

I just finished the Demo a little while ago, and as one of those fans that holds Trials of Mana in high regard, as in 'it's on of the best in the franchise', I have not been left disappointed by what I've seen thus far, and am actually excited to do a fresh play through of the game.

Haven't played Seiken Densetsu 3 in like 15 years, I would have been a teenager then (I played co-op online via SNES emulator, it was pretty fun actually). While I'm mildly disappointed there's no multiplayer in this version, I'm loving what I'm seeing and hearing overall. It sounded instantly very nostalgic, despite my spotty memories of the original. I looked up some old footage and it seems to be a very faithful remake but with vastly improved visuals and a revamped combat system. Needless to say I'm downloading the demo right now and will probably pre-order it if all goes well. Between P5R, FFVII Remake, and this game, April is shaping up to be a great month in the games department.

Just completed the demo on my PC with a gtx1060 and I had no fps drops . Was actually having 120 foa. So I'm surprised u has fps problems. I am thinking of getting it on pc now instead of PS4 or switch.

If only they didn't write Charlotte's subtitles that weirdly her voice acting would be bearable. But she ends up being both hard to hear and impossible to read it's a nightmare. I really wanted to play as her as my main character but I'm not sure anymore.

I never played thr series but I sill definitely buy the game on switch after this demo! I love the idea of choosing a group of main characters, sounds interesting to me and I heard that it actually changes important things in the story in thr original. But there are 2 things that bug me... First, as already mentioned - the voice acting. I love to havd differenft accents (like xc2 - one of the best voice acted games imo) but it sounds really off sometimes, a much older voice for a young looking character but also the quality is often bad - sounds like cheap microphone. The other thing is the pacing. Spoiler for the intro of one character! I just played 40 mins of the demo and in this time I won a tournament, get to know the backsfory of my character, an enemy invaded my hometown, killed a lot of guards, I fought him, I decided to get revenge, had a personal meeting with the, saw the story of my dad in a flashback, left my hometown, arrived in a city that was captured by enemies, managed to trick them so I could leave and killed dozems of monsters in various areas in between all those things... I am absolutely not attached to anything because it all happened so fast, cant even remember a name... was it duran? Or dulan? Dont know... and I wasnt even rushing! Hope the storytelling gets better because other that that its really really good!! Btw. Does anyone know if this game is more a DQ fairy Tale or something more dark?:)

4:44- It's called "Nuclear Fusion". I actually like the Trials Of Mana Remake. Except the Remakers couldn't get one of my favorite Soundtracks Powell right when it came to the wind instruments. I've originally played this game 20 years ago when it was still 16-Bit. It was one of my favorite games ever since. I once requested to Square Enix a year ago for this game to be Remade since Secret Of Mana was Remade. I switched the dialog to Japanese in MY playthrough because THE DUB RUINED RIESZ'S VOICE who was my favorite Character since the original.

I don't know whether to buy this on the switch, or ps4. Always been a fan of the ps controller, but the portable option is a major contender. I'm also kind of afraid of switch versions after bloodstained.

I played the original a couple of hours, many years ago. Started playing the remake demo yesterday on my switch. I have to admit I was pretty worried, this might be one of those horrible examples of how NOT to port a game to switch.... Thankfully the game has a pretty solid performance. 30 fps of course, but I haven't noticed a single major dip in framerate. I think it's maybe 900p at most. Some terrain textures can look quite blurry. Still, I really like it and have no problem buying the switch version day 1.

I wonder if the reason why the arranged soundtrack is much better for the SD3 remake is that Hiroki Kikuta oversaw the composition.

Played through the demo and the only thing that was a bit annoying to me was Kevin's voice actor who I'll call "anime protagonist." The areas are very faithful to the original though and it makes me hopeful for a Legend of Mana remake, which although it's 2D sprites and environment are GORGEOUS hand painted watercolors, would be fun to play on pc with a few gameplay tweaks

Secret of Mana remake was pretty decent. I am used to the snes version so the controls were no issue. Lack of multiplayer is a big downside for me though, I'm always looking for more games to play with my girlfriend, especially RPGs.

My only gripe with the game (at least from what I've played on the demo), is the game's too easy, even on hard mode, and the attack indicators are part of whats to blame. Even when your playing as a magic-focused character, you take pretty much no damage. In the original I found myself using healing items somewhat regularly, especially for boss fights....including the first boss, but in the demo, I didn't use a single one in any of my playthroughs. Still a fun game, but I'm not sure how many people will find it as engaging as the original, which thankfully can be officially played in english thanks to the mana collection that released a while back

Oh god. Thats what they went with for Carlie's English voice? *shudders* And yeah, game play is pretty different. The original was pretty much the same as the first Secret of Mana, with just a few tweaks that did make it feel better but it wasn't that much of a departure.
