Don’t be too hard on yourself. I do Olympic triathlons and the time and energy in training is something but if you really want to do this start running and move to swimming and running that’s how I got into this like you I watched it and decided to do it.

hatim laamri outstanding you should be proud of yourself. May I suggest move up to Olympic first though it’s a very big step to go into Ironman unless your absolutely sure some people I’ve seen tried doing that and ended in horrible results

it took 3h21m for my first and unique triathlon and know what? first time i did 40 km in biking was during the race. I just dont like biking.

Ok..... I am 14 and really want to be part of this but I can see a few potential problems. 1. I would probably drown in the swimming section. 2. If I survive, I will be extremely slow anyway... 3. If I make it to the cycling, I'll probably crash at the first corner. 4. If I am still surviving there is probably a cut off and I'll fail that. 5. Dismounting bikes is really annoying because I keep thinking I'll fall off. 6. I can run 5000m in a half decent time but 10000m... never done that... could be tough. 7. Olympians are probably way ahead of me already when they were my age :(

You don’t have to start on their level, find a kids triathlon team in your city or just google triathlons for beginners in your area and work out your own training plan. But be warned once you do one there’s no turning back, you will be hooked!

I didn't get into the specifics of London triathlon but from my racing days temperature cutoff for wetsuit is 21.3 degrees not 20 degrees as mentioned by commentators. I don't see why it would be any different for Olympics but who knows?

Does anyone else feel a bit annoyed that there is a motorbike in front of the cyclists? I understand the purpose for it , but couldn't you use an electric one? I bike and absolutely cant stand the smell of car exhaust and they are getting a mouth full of it for half the race!!

Coldfury It does admit a little I will grant you that. Problem is where if it’s right in front of you it messes with you. I can cut some slack on small triathlons but something like the Olympics come on. It’s not like an electric bike is going to hurt their budget.

You can't draft in ironman races though. If you're passed in an ironman race you have to drop back and let them completely go by you. I believe you have to be at least 7 meters back.

갓갓갓 tt bike is great for speed and more straight but not so much when you have heavy traffic like this race, so they used these bikes so they can go in and out as they please.

Tour'd Locals Go to where they first started and wait until the finish. Then figure out the distance and divide by the time. I believe it is around 25-30 mph however.

Yeah, he tried to do 70.3 and it was too much for his body. Its to do with body types - Skinner triathletes do better at shorter distance typically

Because since 1996 drafting is allowed in triathlon. Only long course races have different rules, but real triathlons are draft legal races for last 25 years

Not sure about that. The 15 sec. penalty probably cost Jonathan about 18 - 20 sec. and the difference between him and Gomez was exactly 20sec. It' s a marginal call.

It's so you actually put your equipment away and not just chuck it on the floor. Plus a competitor could then trip over or accidentally step on your stuff, which could injure him.
