@@odopemanttv I’m part Mexican and part Dominican but born in America and I look middle eastern haha. I grew up in a Bangladeshi building in New York City and often they spoke to me in Arabic or asked me where I’m from confusing me for Bangladesh. Crazy part is I prefer asian food over my native foods but they are very similar, the tzatziki is superior to crema mexicana imo. But nothing beats salsa verde although I do like their harissa sauce spicy asl. Both continents love their lamb and goat though!

I've had the pleasure of being able to eat this once before, and it was so delicious. When I lived with a half brother over 9 years ago, a very run down duplex during a cold fall. He took me to this mexican resturant he was friends with the owners and they gave me this on this very cold day, absolutely delicious. I ate it all very quickly after my first initial bite. And the owner/chef watched and laughed seeing this 16 year old devouring it. And brought back 3 more for me to eat, which I ate in such a quickness. I wasnt starving, it was just so tasty and filling. They handed me a soda pop in a glass bottle and I drank it down in two gulps.. And had the biggest belch. At this point his entire family showed up, about 10+people watching me devouring their food like they'd never seen before. And the laugh from them after the belch.. priceless. My brother was laughing and I was so stuffed. But I did offer to clean dishes for them as compensation, and they looked surprise. And so for a few hours I stayed with them, cleaning dishes for them and just talking, it was such a memorable time.

You're instantly part of a Mexican family when you embrace it. There's a saying in Spanish "¡El Mexicano nace dónde le da la gana!". It translates to "A Mexican is born where ever he/she feels like it!". In other words, you don't have to be or have Mexican roots to enjoy the culture. So keep exploring my friend!!

@@Keyee1 Cotija is a semi-hard cow's milk cheese, depending on how long it's aged - if it's not aged very long, it'll be softer and a little more creamy. But the way I've always bought it is in crumbled form, like you'd generally find with bleu cheese or feta. In all honesty, it's very similar to feta in it's saltiness and texture. With Mexican street elote, they usually boil or roast the corn, spread a thin layer of mayo all over it, then roll it lightly in the crumbled cotija. Then they dust it with chili powder or cayenne and usually a bit of chopped cilantro or coriander leaves. There's really no need for salt because the mayo and especially the cotija are salty enough on their own. Any time I've had it, It's been served with a couple of lime wedges, like they did here. It's so delicious and it can definitely become a little addictive. 🤗😊

From Mexico to the world! Elotes are a very popular street food in México. Best way? Roasted over coals IN the husks. After 21 minutes or so, flipping every 7, the corn is cooked. Let it cool a little bit before unhusking. Roast longer if you want more caramelization on the corn, but it can make it a bit mealy. The lather with mayonnaise, plain Greek yogurt, or sour cream, roll it on grated (hard) cheese, sprinkle cayenne pepper powder, a squeeze of lime (green lemon), and you have an amazing treat.

With all the types of ridiculous videos online, something as simple and wholesome as this is really refreshing. I’m Mexican and seeing someone experiencing part of my culture and enjoying it for the first time definitely put a smile on my face. And I really want to try qulfi and experience what they’re talking about from their culture

Yes and no. Corn also originated in other regions of MesoAmerica, like Guatemala as an example. Mayans had a corn god known as “One Hunahpu.” For the Mayans, corn was not just a crop, the corn was who they were.

I think its so wonderful when they come across things like this, onion rings, potato dishes, etc that they try and love AND can ALSO make at home. Alot of dishes they try and like it's hard to get the ingredients but when they come across one they love and CAN make it gives me extra joy. Everytime they say how their people didn't realize they can mix this or that, I hope it makes them start experimenting with different tastes they like and try combining them themselves. Blessing of EVERY KIND to all of them and their families. ♥
