A lot of Mexican food is influenced by Lebanese immigration (a ways a way from Pakistan but still, lots of regional spices and cooking methods travel!). Huge immigration from the Middle East to Mexico in the early 1900s. For instance Pork Al Pastor is essentially pork shawarma. Even Salma Hayek is Lebanese-Mexican!

I think it's the tortillas. They are a flat bread and they are used to eating them. The fact that most of the Mexican food they have tried has been wrapped in a tortilla makes it feel more familiar to them, I think.
@Latoya-

Could be the spices.. They use a lot of different spices in their Pakistani food, typically, so they're used to that. And the spices in Mexican food could be a bit more familiar for them. Alot of the other foods they try don't have spices, maybe salt and sometimes pepper 'maybe'. ❤️

Oh, I LOVED this episode for so many reasons! Rana saying when given a fork and knife he feels like he should be performing surgery, Tahir saying the fork was dangerous and could poke someone's eyes out with it (he's right), Chaudhary saying the enchilada looks like a body wrapped in a blanket, or another saying it looks like a body in a coffin ... and Guhl Sher saying he wouldn't share his portion with other family members : ) We've all been there! They are all right on some level--they say things that ring true that we all have taken for granted, and I love their perspective; it's refreshing! Frankly, I love the idea of eating with one's hands much better than using utensils. Primitive but wonderful. Why do we need so many things? We, in our so-called "advanced "society can learn a thing or two from them.

Being that my family is Mexican-American, we like to use tortillas to scoop up beans and rice or the meat, and you have to use your hands to pick up a taco and eat it. We even use our fingers to eat bbq ribs or hotdogs, I remember seeing my parents pick up with their fingers to eat pork chops.. with spaghetti, you’ll need a fork! Lol… but it’s good to have utensils to cut up food and a fork can be a good weapon! 😁😉🍴

Oh, if I could ever win that elusive lottery, I would charter a plane for all of these good guys and anyone they wanted to bring along so they could go to the places their favourite foreign foods came from. 😄 Mexican food is just delicious, and even moreso in Mexico, for sure, as I experienced when I went there some years ago. However, the cheese they use in Mexico is not the same as cheese in the rest of North America, which tends to be cheddar or mozzarella. ❤️ From 🇨🇦

Are you certain about it being Italians? The early Americans thought that. But they had some reason ; they ate off pewter, which, at that time, had a high lead content. The acids in tomatoes leached lead into the food and, well...lead poisoning.
