And Bob out lived both announcers, both Johnny and Rod were household names and are truly missed because they don't make them how they used too... Rest in peace, Johnny Olson and Rod Roddy

I love Johnny Olson he was my favorite announcer on The Price is Right and his catchphrase was a fortune and fabulous prizes made going to these people today if they know when The Price is Right

They did Wheel of Fortune from the same studio for several years....must have been cool for Vanna to be up on that stage as a performer after sitting in the audience.

WOW! Vanna was beautiful even before she became famous. She had very pretty long hair back then. And now look at her today.

Interestingly enough, when Vanna was on Larry King Live (being interviewed by guest host Pat Sajak) her appearance on TPIR was brought up, and from her perspective, Vanna thought Bob was being a bit rude, especially later when he suggested that Vanna was looking at herself on the monitor and not paying attention.

It seems like Bob Barker was getting ready to cry when he was talking about johnny olson. You can tell that his voice is trembling a bit.

Vanna---STILL HOT! And a rare bit if actually funny humor from Mr. Barker.

The best successor is one who respects and admires the former, and who keeps the standard the former established going, but makes it his own. Inspiration, not imitation. Rod was never a replacement for Johnny, and just like him, he was Perfect for the job!

I met Vanna in 2004 & 2007.

Nobody could ever fill Johnny's shoes, but I think Rod was the best choice they could have made as his successor. Rod seemed to fit in quite well on the show. I always remember the LOUD suits he wore which he had custom made in Hong Kong.

Isn't it funny how that for about 6 years WOF and TPIR shared the same studio?

Had no clue Vanna White was on TPIR. She looked cute back then, and she's still cute now. How old was she? This must've been way before she was on Wheel Of Fortune.

Of course, I recal when "Wheel Of Fortune" was hosted by Chuck Woolery and was part of the NBC-TV daytime line-up. I wish netowrks would resume more game shows and off-prime time reruns of episodic programming, anything to get rid of all those judge shows and Jerry Springer clones polluting daytime TV nowadays.

Well, not really that unusual, since "Wheel Of Fortune" is a syndicated program and "The Price Is Right" on CBS. But even so, sometimes one network will record a program using the facilities of another, if the production company is owned by or a subsidiary of a competing network, or just leases facilities for program production.

Wouldn't you rather watch a rerun episode of "The Big Bang Theory" or "The Office,"or an older sitcom classic such as "Bewitched" or "The Dick Van Dyke Show," than one of the dozen clones of "Judge Judy" in the daytime? I know I would. Or how about a new version of "Concentration," "Match Game" or "Password," instead of those insipid shoutfests hosted by the likes of Steve Wilkos & Maury Povich?

The crazy thing is Roddy would leave us not long after from breast cancer. Yeah it rarely happens in males, but sadly he was one of those rare males that got it.

Leave to Bob to turn a tribute piece into a clip of him oggoling a chick's boobs. It's funny that Vanna was on TPiR before she hit it big.

TPIR announcers from best to worst in my opinion (not counting sub announcers or Burton Richardson): 1. Johnny Olson - The OG. You could tell he loved TPIR and he loved his job. While he started to slur a little in his last 2-3 years, his enthusiasm never waned. He remains the best. 2. George Gray - Might be a surprise choice for some, but I like George. He has the right level of enthusiasm and fun. He also has good chemistry with Drew. 3. Rod Roddy - From 1986-1993ish, he was awesome. After 1993, he started to sound very bored and bland. Not sure if it was health, the drama behind the scenes or just boredom, but he was great for 7ish years and mediocre for about 10. 4. Rich Fields - Never liked Rich. Maybe he's a nice guy, but his tone and mannerisms came off very fake and artificial. His tone was more irritating than exciting.
