Here is an overview of the double bass drum I'm using for years now, the Trick Pro1-V double bass drum pedal. Included, a a demo without trigger to check the power range of the pedal.
For EU customer, remember that this product is also available on Thoman.

I've had mine for about 4 years now and absolutely love them. I bought them after breaking the right foot pedal on what I thought was a very solid set of Gibraltar direct drive doubles. I wanted something "unbreakable" and also easy to use and adjust. These are so easy to set up and adjust. Well worth the money. I recently bought a set of second hand Axis A21 direct drives to compare and for me, after adjusting to every conceivable setting, which was an absolute pain, I couldn't get anywhere near the feel of the Trick Pedals.

Fantastic double base drum pedal. However, I found the footboards too heavy and ordered lightweight foodboards. What a difference much faster and smoother now! I also shortened the connecting shaft slightly!

People say these are expensive, but after paying $800 for my direct drive Gibraltars about 7 years ago, I though the extra $200 on top of that was well worth it.

Good video! @14:15 You got it backwards. The lowest hole on the direct drive is longer throw like you said, but it will provide more power. Then the top hole would be shorter throw, less power but faster.

what are your thoughts on the new redlines? i really like them was thinking about buying a set so i could leave the tricks at home stationary when i play out. are they on par with the tricks im not good enough at double pedals yet to notice or know the nuances over a 4 hour session but iniatally in store the redlines and dw mdds are my to favs outside of the tricks. thank you Kevin!

If you had the beaters sit back a little more, beaters without felt, and tension cranked more (if it wasn't) You'd have more power and the bass would be louder. But then again, you might sacrifice speed.

A very thorough review. Excellent! Only one small note, the drumming you're playing in the background during the beginning of the video when you are talking is a bit loud and makes it difficult to pay attention to your voice at times.

Not sure if anyone will respond but, to get my beater angle to come back around 45 degrees; I had to use an angle finder due to being outside the hash marks on the pedal. Not a big deal or against the rules or anything like that. I was just wondering if anyone else experienced this. Absolutely love these pedals.

I have dw9000 double kick. I had one as a kid too and I’ve always thought the left pedal is horrible. I was trying to adjust my pedal the other day and I was getting pissed cause it seemed like a cheap pedal. I plan on getting this trick pedal real soon.

I've heard mixed reviews on this pedal. Some say it's too responsive which causes it to feel uncontrollable and ahead of u too much. Other half likes them.

i had this pedal for about 3 or 4 years... it is like you said. i never had real control. but it is a personal thing. I switched back to regular pedals. recently i tried trick again and it sucked (for me)

Never played tricks, but this is the overall feeling i get with direct drive ! It has always been cool for me if i was using double strokes (heel toe), but when it comes to ankle motion controll... i switched to the Camco's by tama, (old double bass pedal from 1983), and in only 6 months i was able to fill the gap i had with dd (between 170 to 200 bpm), and go beyond my limits !

I think everyone's just different ! That's why some people use swivel like kollias, some the jojo mayer technique like wanja, some people like roddy even play half heel down / heel !

basically its an extension of your foot so if you have poor control then you wont be able to control the pedal. there's no smoke and mirrors, just practise if you want to be better.

The hoop clamp can't be moved forwards/backwards and has the lever under the footboard rather than besides it, the direct drive linkage doesn't have three but only one position and it's generally constructed a good bit less massive (not saying it's less stable or anything). But other than that, the Dominators as far as I am aware have the same features
@robertthompson365
@robertthompson365 6 жыл бұрын
The difference is that you have 2 more adjustments on the pedal at the bottom of the direct drive, giving you 2 additional adjustments after you have set your pedal hight

@yoyoz333

i use a thin door mat that i put under it. its similar material to carpet/ velcro. the pedal doesnt slide on it, and the weight of the hi-hat stand stops the actual mat from sliding on wood surfaces

Hey i know this is old af but if you havent already found a solution, look into kickblock. They have one for your pedals and your bass drum to keep it from sliding on your rug.

I can't stand this sudden hype for these brands. For some reasons, people had begun to believe they are over the top, but they are not. Almost nothing can replace the feel I have with Trick. Some people don't like how they react, I do. This myth of which drum pedals is the best has to stop. We are very lucky to have a lot of very good brands with dedicated people that make different pedals.

Michael Beddoe I just thought since he’s in Europe he’d go for the Darwin’s or The Copytos like Ken from aborted. And yes I like the trick a lot, I have axis right now and I can’t stand them to be honest. Very annoying and not user friendly. Saw aborted, benighted, hideous divinity and cryptopsy in March in hell over North America in Kansas City. Talked to ken and Kevin and both were super fucking sick nice dudes. Insanely sick and tight drummers.
