Tricked by the GAME WARDENS!! + Catch and Cook Ruffed Grouse (Partridge)

This time around I put down the fishing rod since open water fishing season in Northern Maine has come to a close. So I decided I would hunt the opening day of bird season for ruffed grouse (Partridge). I ended up limiting out and made an awesome lunch for myself. However, before that happened I was tricked by the game wardens! Who set out some decoys and were hiding in the bushes waiting to ambush unsuspecting hunters. Guess they took some notes from fortnight. Enjoy!

Great video, Being from California it's hard to believe you can hunt like this! Last year I was one very lucky dog. After years of trying I drew a moose tag. On our scouting days before the moose hunt started, we were bird hunting. It's very difficult getting use to having a firearm in the cab and driving the roads. Breaking every California law on the books. I was blessed with a 873 pound bull! Great video! Thanks for sharing.

I was thinking the same thing, then you see people arguing over it being illegal there just because it is where they live. I am jealous, we can't hunt from a road, or shoulder of a road in Texas. And the only turkey I have seen this spring are on the side of the roads. Of course this only applies to public roads, private ones are a different story but even then you had better be sure it's private and not listed as a county road that passes through a ranch. Many were passing through several ranches at one time so for access they got made county roads and remain such technically even when it all becomes one ranch. Buddy of mine owns a ranch like that. It's a county road all the way into his ranch but doesn't look like it. Know your states laws and ignore the internet know it alls.

@@MainelyOutDoors You're welcome! There's plenty of resources out there for action cameras. Current popular ones that aren't Gopros are the Mobius, runcam series, foxeer legend series, and firefly q6 to name a few. You can get an older model of these for cheaper. Due to the competition in the mini-action cam scene from drone racing, airsoft and more they're constantly improving. I'm sure there is a hunting channel out there that has a good on the fly setup. I don't know how these airsoft-inspired video gear would do on a real steel setup but it should work out for the most-part. Just doing about 20 minutes of research into the topic I'd suggest this video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/m7KJhJRz3bWdcYU.html This video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qJmpac1h35jHc2Q.html and this seems to be a good hunting channel as well. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jbudgberldzYp5c.html But just typing in keywords such as this kzfaq.info?search_query=making+hunting+videos+solo Should bring up plenty of material to sift through. Good resources to look on are reddit and facebook groups. For FB try to find the biggest hunting discussion group and search for keywords, there's probably a hunting youtubers group similar to this airsoft youtubers group. facebook.com/groups/PewTubersAnonymous/ A final tip I'd suggest is always try to improve your editing, switch it up every once in a while, keep the bar high when it comes to compilation, audio quality and more. Keep up the videos! The way to get subscribers is to keep cranking them out, and sooner or later you'll have one that takes off like this one! As someone who's never hunted, is there a way to use almost every part of the bird somehow? Keep the feathers for decoration/sell them, make bird stew with the rest of the meat? I don't think too many hunters try to re-purpose many parts of the animals they hunt. I'll have to do some reading on the subject. P.S. the most affordable way I could think of to get another camera in the action/different shots would be to use one of these hat mounts for a cellphone.

David Hro you are that man!! Thank you so much for providing me with a jumping point, that saves me a lot of time. There were so many tips I had to screen shot it so I do loss them in the comments. I will absolutely be looking into it. Perhaps its time to put a rail on my shotgun hahaha. Never though id say that XD! Also, I guess I never realized that there were so many other viable options for action cameras. That is probably something I could swing in the near future to improve the shots of my fishing videos. Thanks again very glad you found this channel. I'll be trying to upload all I can but since I'm in grad school both my time and funds are limited. However, I can assure you that's not going to stop me from trying my best. Especially after all the support I've been getting lately, this is starting to become more than a hobby now.

@@MainelyOutDoors No problem! Here's the link I forgot to put in with my P.S. about the smartphone mount for hats. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mMyJrMyKm9a4Y6s.html Action cameras like the ones I mentioned are also very affordable! Definitely cheaper than a go-pro most/all Under 150 bucks! Of course its just a hobby, but it could also be a side-hustle for beer money or more! Monetize videos with ads and such. I'd suggest always keeping a record of video ideas you can make, thinking of good titles, thumbnails etc to increase views. Perhaps set a goal of 1 video per month? Something more? Start a facebook page, instagram etc.

Sweet thanks. In the future feel free to email me with any tips at least for now its easier to keep track of. KZfaq doesn't have a good way for me to find comments that have replied back to me when theres so many. Also, yes my goal for the summer, once I pass my computational exams is to film two a week. Last summer I managed one a week but that was very taxing.

In Michigan you have to be 420 feet from your vehicle or road before you can discharge your firearm. Otherwise the bunny cops can take your gun, your vehicle, and everything in it. Give you a ticket and tell you to have a nice day. You can not have a firearm in your vehicle with ammunition within proximity of the firearm and your firearm has to be cased, that mean a case that is zippered shut and or a hard case with ALL the latches closed. You should feel very blessed to have such lenient hunting laws.

@@NB-ky5ol certainly isn't helping I'm sure. Most republicans though also don't care about the common man and what the common man cares about. They're all still in favor of 'common sense' gun laws etc. Here in Utah they do absolutely nothing to protect the rural industry and are more than happy to welcome the hoards of mormon californians moving to the cheap holy land. Building McMansions and displacing rural people. These 'conservatives' are not the libertarians of the rocky mountain west and it's changing things fast.

This was my first video being introduced to this channel, and I have to say, it's very well made. You keep in down to earth and bring us along for the adventure. I'm a very new hunter, and just that small amount of information about soft wood, hard wood, and clover being a key element to the habitat of the ruffed grouse really makes the whole video for me. You made a new subscriber and I'm excited to be a part of the adventure and enjoyment of your videos. Thanks, and God bless.

Hey David thanks for joining! Really glad you enjoyed the videos. One more tip is to make sure there is some water source nearby. Also, the later in the season it is the better trail hunting will get. They are already going there for gravel for their crops and in the late fall as it gets colder the foliage in the woods will die sooner than it will in the road where the sun keeps it green for longer. Good luck next season. maybe next time ill try to add more tips.
