Amazing yeah. Saw old videos around that era on how Chinese from villages would sleep outside of the train stations for many days just to wait for their trains. Now it's almost 40,000 km of high speed railways crisscrossing the country. And they just debuted 600 km/h maglev train.

It is amazing but it feels like an airport and airports are horrible. In Europe Trainstations are just open, there is no Boarding or separate Departure and Arrival or security scan or anything. You just go there, buy a ticket if required, wait, enter the train. Usually without reservation. I very much prefer that system as great as the Chinese system is.

@@Trainviking Some American "experts" said that Chinese economy hasn't developed that fast, or even has been stagnant in the last decade. However, in the last decade China has built up 35,000 kilometers HSR, and how much it values in USA? I doubt whether the USA can build a 500 kilometers HSR in CA, using 100 billions US$.

I only talk about politics when it will be about railways on my channel (ooohh this is a tricky one, the strikes in France made me really angry on the trip where I'm on right now and I totally don't agree with the reason for the strike and the reason doesn't include railways but the retirement system, since strikes are not that common, I don't know if I'll upload this one but I'm on fire right now).

Trains are pretty often better than flying in a plane. Not only in China. The advantage not arriving inside the city center, having way less time to spend at the security, don't have to wait for your luggage...trains are just better. Even on routes where trains are slower and, you can take a sleeper train so you have hotel + train ticket in one go (same thing for this route, there are lots of sleeper trains as well).

Thank you so much. Well I just started with KZfaq, so I don't have that much followers etc yet. Hopefully this will grow. I just hope to convince more people to take the train instead not the plane. I really recommend you to do this by train. For me it's a kind of difficult (from what I understood) to get a visa for Russia to re-enter. Otherwise a trip via Mongolia, China and back via Kazakhstan is also pretty cool (oh for me also a difficult thing with visa is Belarus but I hope to.make a video on the train to.russia via the Baltic States next summer)... I just want to show so many things that are possible by train to the world haha. When you have any questions regarding this trip let me know. Something I really have to say, for Russia and Kazakhstan the cheapest thing to do is book traintickets yourself directly at the railway company (when you buy tickets in Kazakhstan via the Russian railway company, you already pay more). I will try to make a video on this as well :).

@@Trainviking thanks for the information. Sure I will contact you if I need the help I traveled in Europe by train when I was studying there. I loved the inter rail pass. It was so convenient especially in northern European countries. Chinese railway is much better now. They will use e ticket for all the lines and stations in the end of next year. They already started in some regions. So next time foreigners don't need to print the tickets in the stations. For the security checks on all the Metro and railways, it started a few years ago after the terrorists attacks from ETIM arose the China especially in Xinjiang. I hope you get more followers. The quality of the video is great. You covered everything in the video from travel info to views on the way. You won't see those desert and mountains along the Xinjiang to Lanzhou line if you fly.

China actually doesn't have TGV based model due to the ban of Jacobs bogie which imposes a heavier pressure on track. Also at the time when China was purchasing technology the French hasn't yet finished their AGV train so there was not a lot we can choose. Due to the ban of tilting technology Pendolino was imported with removal of tilting feature, and some how the producer didn't design it (the removal of tilting feature) well, so there was multiple debugging, domestification and refinement of CRH5, unlike the CRH2A and CRH3C models which are almost identical to original Shinkansen E2 and ICE3. CRH2C and CRH3A might be as domesticated as CRH5 families but for different reasons.

I am a Chinese. For short trips, I prefer high-speed rail. For example, Nanjing to Beijing. The fastest high-speed rail is three and a half hours. The average high-speed rail may be four and a half hours. But if I take an airplane, I need to spend more than an hour to the airport, another hour to check in, security check, and then two hours to fly, which is much slower than the high-speed rail. However, during the Spring Festival, I still have to take an hour's high-speed rail home, plus twelve-hour sleepers. At the end of this year, my hometown will be connected to the high-speed rail. I am looking forward to turning a dozen hours of slow train journey into few hours of high-speed rail.
@Trainviking
@Trainviking 4 жыл бұрын
Nice, it's great to see how all different towns are being connected to the high speed lines. And I have to say, in a way slow sleeper trains can be nice as well. Next week I will make a trip in Europe with a slow sleeper train, when I do this with a high speed train it will take me 5 hours now it will take me 12 hours but because I can take a sleeper train, I don't need a hotel (well I'll explain this in the video, it will be the Intercité de nuit video from Paris to Portbou)

For travel, it is really good, you can save the cost of a night's accommodation, and you can slowly enjoy the scenery along the way. One of my dreams is to take the Qinghai-Tibet Railway to Lhasa, Tibet. The scenery along the way is too beautiful. I heard that the ChengDu-Tibet high-speed railway is also under construction. Haha, but when I go home, I definitely want the train to go faster and go home earlier. It will be the Chinese New Year in another month, and the time to go home is getting closer and closer, thank you for the video. I wish you a pleasant journey on the European Railways and hope that you will be able to come to China again.

@starcraft5045 In China, G, C, D can be consider as high speed train by international standard (top speed reaches 250KM/h or more). Z, T, K and number only trains are much slower, their top speed are about 160km/h, 140km/h and 120km/h. There are different models in the high speed trains, some models top speed are less than 300km/h and they usually runs at about 250km/h, such as CRH-1, CRH-2. They can only be used as D, not G. For other models such as CRH-380A or CR-400 etc, they usually speed above 300km/h or 350km/h, they are used as G in most cases. However, as I said above, you may see some of those faster model trains run at a lower speed and serve as a D train. C train is intercity, usually runs between 2 close by cities. Most of them runs at 250km/h like D, but there is also service runs at 300km/h such as the service between Beijing and Tianjin.

I assume they pulled it somewhere and rbought it back to the station? Quite the journey you had ! BTW, you entered China through a cultural region that is making the news. Depends how you look at it. Passenger rights are better on paper in Europe because of through tickets (doesn't count for all countries thow). The thing with Europe is there is not enough cooperation, look at RENFE and SNCF, they had a cooperation, than SNCF started competing on one route (basically also competing their own train). However some high-speed lines don't make any sense in economical and environmental perspective (same thing counts for Spain by the way). However, no matter how you look at it, what China does is really impressive.
