*What about that red chinese radio chatter?
@It's done, here you go
*That was a static filled triple scrambled microwave transmission between two soldiers talking in mandarin chinese!
@Well the Chinese were only using a simple polyphoneticaly grouped twenty square digit key transposed in booster vedonic form with multiple nulls, I broke it with this..
*A drogan's decoder wheel? They put these things into cereal boxes for kids!
@Yeah I found it in a box of errr..lucky charms.

No... it's not. It was mostly ad-libbed tripe good for a laugh when it came out, but it's pretty sloppy and slow overall. Typical of Chevy Chase 80's movies. Hey internet infants... not everything is 'underrated' and it doesn't make you clever to call something 'underrated', like you've got some inside secret.

1:25 that was a play off the original hackers from 1970s called phone phreakers. They would use a plastic whistle that came in the cereal Cap'n Crunch, a Bo'sun whistle. One guy figured out the whistle produced the perfect pitch to be able to make free phone calls, back in the day when long distance phone calls were expensive.
@Wailwulf
@Wailwulf 3 жыл бұрын
Using that whistle, he called a payphone that was next to him from another payphone, but made the call actually circle the world instead of going to the local exchange and back.
@StevenCampbell1955
@StevenCampbell1955 3 жыл бұрын
@@Wailwulf Phone phreaking we used to call it. I got called into the Commanders's Office to help explain the the high number of outgoing, overseas and interstate calls being made from a couple of payphones near the front gatehouse. It seems that Someone had scratched the instructions on how to make phone calls by making whistling noises. It was never proven who may have made such an inscription or why I had begun to make long distance calls to my own home at about the same time the Phreaking began. A coincidence is the obvious explanation, I suggested.

A long time ago I worked in a manual type WG civil service job and applied for a training program to be a computer programmer. I went to work at 3 PM, I worked evening shift and my boss told me, by the way you have an interview at 4Pm for that job you applied for. I was wearing old jeans and shirt I worked on aircraft. I just made it across base and the receptionist looked at me with disdain but the manager called me in and asked why I am not prepared, I explained and he said we will take that in consideration. I got the job,bi scored the highest of all 20 candidates.

That's just a great character introduction for a movie about spies. Austin obviously is loaded with brains and talent, and actually does have the goods for being a spy. The scene perfectly sets up everything he does in the film when he sniffs out enemy and friendly spies, spots hardware and tech, and shows proficiency foreign languages and tech... all while solving crises by thinking on his feet. My only real disappointment is that John Belushi didn't live to do this film with him; Chevy replaced him as Fitzhume after Belushi's death. Belushi would have been AMAZING in this film!
@alphanerd7221

Those are all skills he has to be a great analyst. He's not a great spy. He's a terrible liar with no social skills. He and Fitz-Hume each have about half the skill set. Chase is much, much better than Belushi.

Not "booster vedonic" form....it's "boustrophedonic" form. Just looked up this word when I found 2 quote sources with different spellings. Boustrophedonic means going back and forth (as in plowing a field), so in writing it would be writing the 1st line left to right and then starting the 2nd line and going right to left. Glad I looked it up....learned a new word. Now, try to stump your friends or kids with how to spell it and what it means! Oh yeah, one of the best movies with some of the best lines!!! Imo, this movie was too goofy. It's like the writers (Dan Aykroyd being one of them) tried to make Ghostbusters Cold War. But Ghostbusters (the original) never got too silly. And it developed the characters logically. This movie didn't do that. Like it was trying too hard to make people laugh. And it threw character development, almost right out the window. To the point of hurting the film. An okay film. But it could have been so much more with just a little more effort put into the script and/or directing, imo. ☮
