My friend Lucia and I decided to take the Triumph's out on one of the wettest days possible!
I was on the Rocket 3R and Lucia was on the Bonny T120.
Come along with me whilst I share my current thoughts on the beast.

Good riding weather Kate, it was -25.4 C here this morning and more snow on the level higher that most knees. Glad you enjoyed the R3. I always enjoy your riding commentary the most. Try to stay dry, warm & well.

Hello there. Having owned a GT for about 6 months now, I still love it. Never had any steering wobble going over speed bumps and such but it can throw you out of the seat because of the hard ride. It is quite thirsty though- going at speed, and this bike is made to go fast.

Had to sub just on your bravery that’s a Netflix day for me. Followed a rocket last week on a brilliant twisty road near me on my 890 adventure and I was impressed how well it handled the bends, just slightly restricting lean angle

I'll soon be an old geezer so the classic look of the Bonneville would suit me fine but you make that rocket sound so fun and reliable on the road that a couple of years with it is aluring. I have to try it when summer comes.

lol.. was back in the UK a few weeks back in Lancashire. Then journey home via Lisbon, Dubai and Bali and now sat in a rain storm in Central Queensland but its 33 degrees

You should come to NZ Kate many great roads and sights to see once you get off the state highways onto the back roads,you might get some blue skies too 😊 I really enjoy your bike reviews and adventures,ride safe and bring us more

Love holes, think i’ve been slightly south of there 😉, Mike likes the r3, he knows that you can’t off road it 😀. You are a brave person, I wouldn’t even drive in those conditions but I am a big woose

Kudos for riding in that weather. I must admit - the Rocket looked quite intimidating but if it’s the tame pussycat you describe then might consider it one day 👍🏼

Great roads,shite weather, road conditions (muck/salt etc) weren't much better on Tuesday when I had ride out in peaks, but it was at least dry. 🏍👍

I've been enjoying your revisit to the Rocket 3 videos though I'm sorry to see you had to endure such horrendous weather. Still both you and the bike took it on the chin with a great big grin 👍😀 I fancied one when they first came out but I opted for the Kawasaki ZZR 1400 Performance Sport and managed to buy the last one sold in Europe. It's also an awesome bike which you should try if a dealer has one in. I'm now in the market for the R3 but I think I'd prefer the GT, still deciding about mid or forward pegs and definitely want a quick shifter.

I love my Rocket 3 R Black for daily riding and also touring. It can be extremely relaxing at 1500rpm or thrilling when you accelerate. This amount of mass and torque requires experience, mental maturity and occasionally some musculature, but is incredibly rewarding.

I was in Germany a few years ago and hit a downpour, I ride a thunderbird 1600 and the seat is a natural raincatcher , nearly as bad as the gloves !

For about 30years I used to ride the bike all year round, no matter what the weather, rain, wind, fog, snow and ice, never bothered me. Then I passed my car test about 10 years ago and slowly turned into a fair weather biker! lol Can't say I miss the rain & snow, but I still like the occasional blast in winter, warm gear is a must tho. lol

Hi Kate. Great video. Someone else who goes out in all weather’s 👍. I bought a Rocket 3 a couple of months ago and absolutely love it. I was looking at the R but would have had to wait a while from my local dealer so I got the GT 221 version and changed the bars and foot pegs to the R spec. Your right about the more you ride it the more you love it. I also have a Suzuki GSX S 1000 which I traded my GSX-R1000R in for and when I go on the Suzuki after being on the Rocket it feels like a 400😂. The only thing I haven’t changed on the GT is the seat. It’s slightly lower than the R (23mm), doesn’t sound much but I think with the R bars on it needs the seat as well to push you forward a bit. The only complaint I have is the alloy corrodes very easily. I had two T100’s before and they were the same. Poor finish for a premium bike! I had to get my headlights adjusted as they were dazzling other road users! (This should have been checked by the dealer!) My cruise control also doesn’t work but this probably happened when they changes the bars. Ive never been without a bike since I was 16, that’s 43 years and Rocket 3 is like nothing else I’ve ridden, amazing bike. Look forward to more videos.👍

@@royevans4581 yeh, been using it for years on all my bikes and scottoiler 365. My Suzuki GSX S1000 is a year old and the alloy is still like new, been run through 2 winters. The triumph pitted in two weeks!

Stepping off the tiger 900 Rally Pro and making my way to a speedmaster chrome. I have chosen to install the touring screen so that I can do motorway speeds with less head on wind, at 60 I can do without trying to hang on at 70+ 😂 I then have the option to remove it for blasting around locally - maybe. Heated grips should be standard, have got them on the speedmaster as an extra, they were standard on the tiger, along with a heated seat (which was perfect on two long distance runs from Munich (15 hours) and Odense in Denmark (19 hours)

Good to see the big old girl (the Rocket, not yourself obvs) will tolerate dodgy narrow British B roads. Not something I'd have considered before. The Cat & Fiddle can be pretty knarly when the weather is bad. Not sure I'll be visiting the pub on the bike anymore now that they've stopped serving tea & coffee. Sad, as that was always a great stop when out that way.

Horrible roads in that weather Kate. There’s a great KZfaq video on suspension set up which would stop you bouncing about on those craggy roads - Col and Zig’s Suspension Guide. Heated grips of the GT would have made the ride more tolerable.They’re an option on the R,standard on the GT. The standard pipes sound great when the bike’s let loose - seeTriumph Rocket 3 sound by Schaaf on KZfaq. The bike is pretty heavy pushing in and out the garage but fine once out on the road. Well done for making an awful cold and wet day look almost fun !

Back in the 70s I had 3 different Norton Commandos. 2 were wonderful, but the middle one had the head shake. Hitting bumps or potholes straight on would initiate a tank slapper. Scared the crap out of me. I was only 19 and passed it on like the guy that sold it to me. I don’t know what to think! Wheel balance? Just don’t know. It shouldn’t happen and you should bring it to the attention of your dealer. Please let us know if you find out what’s going on. Thanks

I don't like the look of that weather, I'm definitely a fairweather rider. You say that the Rocket 3 doesn't like sharp corners... I once came across a mini-roundabout with a raised concrete island on my first ride out on a Diavel 1260s and I had to take it embarrassingly slow, so I can only imagine what that must be like on a Rocket 3!!!

Again…I gotta say it … I love to watch you and hear you talk about this Wicked Bike. I myself will never be able to afford or even own ; or for keep it safe from being stolen , gone in 60 seconds like. So ,just a fantasy for me ,cheers. 12:45 Any tips on gloves for us long fingered ladies with talons Kate? Been looking for some that are skinny enough for my hand but long enough for my long fingers with nails. Tried on my other half's Rukka's and their just about long enough in the fingers - but then the hand is too baggy.
