Greetings KZfaq! Join me on a wet and windy February morning as I take the new Triumph Scrambler 400 X out for a short test ride. This isn't an in-depth review or tech-fest, just me taking a look and sharing my thoughts. Will the little Triumph live up to the legendary Tiger Cubs of days gone by? It certainly looks the part!

Another person who's been convinced by marketing and publicity to think that any bike under 1000cc is a small bike. Yes buy a huge tank of a bike well over 200kilos if you want adventure and pay stupid amount of money for it because it's loaded with unnecessary tech. People were and are going around the world on much smaller machines for years. When I first started riding fifty years ago a big bike would have been a 650cc and didn't need to be dedicated to particular genre of riding you just went any where on it with maybe a tire change This bikes perfect for this, cheap to buy cheap to run, uncomplicated to maintain and will go most places unless you want to go down gnarly trails which most so called adventure bikes would struggle to manage anyway. It can do the top legal speed limit on most european motorways but who wants to ride up and down motorways. If I wanted comfort over a distance on mainly motorways I'd go in the car, if the joy was in the ride in most conditions this can't be beaten. Too many journalists and reviewers seem to think the big over complicated and heavy machines are the business and forget a lot of riders don't want or need these, don't belittle machines like this they' are the machines that will get the next generation riding, if we're not careful it will die out with us old fuckers.🤣 Well done Triumph for realising at last that there's a big market out there for cheap quality machines.

Agree with that (apart from it'll take more than a motorway to get me take the car😊) Been riding 40 years? And have CB500F for commuting, and 450 Himalayan on order for weekends. Might order an sg650 in the summer. Ride safe.

Hi Alan, thanks for subscribing, it’s great to have you along for the ride! When a product gets the Itchyboots seal of approval you know it’s likely to be good! 😁 Thanks for watching and commenting too 🙂

If Triumph brings a Mini-Tiger (styling of the TEX 1200 XC with this engine or the 660) I'd definitely go for it. Besides, if time isn't of the essence, you could use a scooter to do long distance trips - no need for a GS 😉

I hear you! 😂 That would be a very cool bike should they ever decide to do that… Thanks for watching and commenting! 🙂

They have the tiger 660. The smaller engines really aren't good for weighted down luggage touring.

@@logangodofcandy it's the Sport (like the older 1050 Tiger) didn't like the looks and wannabe sportiness - but a shrinked TEX XC would be competing with the little CRF's or Hima or alike and one up with luggage works fine there - so why shouldn't it in a Triumph version?

Hi Arch, it’s a trade plate - dealers use then so that they don’t have to tax or register the vehicle to take it on the road… Thanks for watching my friend 🙂

Do you “ride them” Steve off camera .. you always seem very respectful/ reserved on camera or do you give it a wristful 🤣 Ohh now that’s an insight did you say Malta .. I hope it’s bike related and not budgie smuggling !!! Look forward to it ( the bike bit ) Mark

I never give it some on a test ride as there’s too massive an excess to pay if anything went wrong… to be fair I don’t really ride my bike particularly fast either! 😂 Malta was most definitely bike related and completely didn’t go to plan… next week’s episode! Thanks for watching Mark! 🙂
