I rebuilt a master cylinder a few weeks ago, with new rubber seals inside. Using Fluid Film spray as an assembly lube and topping off the hose with brake fluid right before just holding the threads together with my fingers, then pumping the brake lever to get out the air and having brake fluid start to squirt around my fingers, then screwing on the brake hose end to the cylinder reduced the amount of time to bleed the brake after final assembly.

I have always been a skeptic on projects like this making things better. I usually replace the caliper. Because of your videos, this summer I rebuilt that and the master cylinder and calipers instead and couldn't believe how much better the brakes were. I didn't do any painting, but they were clean as could be

Glad It could help you Ron.. if you make a good job of it, you can always make any caliper like new again, all the parts are available, and often better than the factory items.. the TRK Piston kits are a far better quality steel than the original ones, and will last longer too.. Thanks for your feedback sir.. Take care. !

Thanks mate, good to hear from you, and glad you're looking after our sunshine for us, take good care of it, and we'll have it back in April... it's bloody freezing here! We've currently got that wonderful scenario where it's sub-zero at night, so they salt the roads, then wet drizzle in the day time to turn the salt in to sticky snot, so the vehicles look like bog donkeys that have been dragged out of a swamp! And I swear to god, on a quiet night, you can actually hear them rusting ;-0 so hurry up April! Happy New Year, D&Px 👍

Sweet! Nicely done, Del. It’s a mystery why the front brake system was not as well cared for by the previous owner as the rear system seems to have been. Happy New Year to you and Penny! 🥂 🏍👍🏍
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Gary, I think that's generally a common discovery, back brakes are very often neglected and that's where I think this back to front situation has come from... the front was certainly in a worse state, but it wasn't through neglect, it was through a simple mistake somebody has made by adding some silicone based brake fluid (DOT5) in with the DOT4 fluid... and as you probably know, the two don't mix, they split like scrambled egg and make that slimy goo you saw... and the fact it was down in the caliper and not just up in the bars in the reservoir, shows that they even tried to pump it through the system to clear it... and as you saw, the only way to clear it is to strip the system! So the fact that rear brakes are so often neglected, is probably why they got away with it, because whoever did it, just did the front as most people do... either way, it's all cleared now, it's cost me a set of hoses as well, but it's good to know that the full hydraulic system is 100% now! Have a great New Year, keep safe and well, and stay in touch! D&Px

Delboy couple Of questions.. 1. How often do you suggest brake oil change ? 2 . Does old oil make the caliper bind or make it sticky ??
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 2 жыл бұрын
Do you mean brake "Oil" or brake fluid ? a few bikes run 'oil' in the brake system, but most bikes use a glycol brake fluid. If you have Glycol based DOT 3 or 4 fluid. then change it at least every two years, sooner if you ride in a wet climate. And old brake fluid doesn't make calipers stick, road dirt does that, so clean out your calipers like in this video.!

@Moonfleet41 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Dave, Happy New Year mate, generally speaking most aftermarket exhausts are developed so they can be fitted without further modification, but that's not to say that you cannot re-map, or that there wouldn't be benefits and small gains from a re-map, but certainly from straightforward functionality, aftermarket exhausts these days are good to just fit and use... if you're not sure, then I would speak with the seller you got it from to see what they normally sell with it and if thy recommend a re-map... Also, if you're looking for some experiences from other Bolt owners, the forums are a great source of community information... hope that helps in some way buddy, good luck with it, Del

Del why did the rear brake hose banjo off the caliper only have one washer? 🤔

As you'll see in the next video, the other washer is stuck firmly to the caliper, and it'll stay there until it's painted and dry, then when i'll flip it off the 'seat' is clean and perfect for next use..

Hey buddy...Thanks for the kind offer, i can get them if i need them, i just wanted to make them satin black so they blend in with the hoses when it' all rebuilt... being a bit posh maybe, but it's turning out really well, so why not aye.
