The second part of a multi-day ADV motorcycle trip through the Victorian High Country where I test the new Continental TKC80 off-road tyres both on and off road, get lost in the woods, and have plenty of near misses with the local fauna.
This part includes the Great Alpine Road, and more of Dargo than I was bargaining for!

Glad you eventually got to Dargo in one piece. Doesn't matter how quick the trip is, just that you get home in same condition you left. Enjoying watching your journey.

An adventure was had that's for sure. I did the Creb track at the tip in the dark once, that was trippy.

As they say, the adventure only starts when something goes wrong. PS: I have a Motoz Dualventure on the front my 650 Suzuki. Tubeless version with a tube. I was thinking of the tkc80, but discovered the dv and did my research. I have the Tractionator gps on the rear. Was a good combo on and off road, but haven’t tried it in the wet yet.

Thanks for the feedback. The TKC80s are already well on the way to getting worn down, so I might try the DV front and maybe RallZ rear next time.

I can certainly imagine that sinking feeling, when the road is getting worse and it’s getting dark. It can feel pretty lonely out there, I guess. And even I was relieved, when you arrived! Great footage . Greetings from Europe.

Great video, you need to use off line maps that don't need phone signal , I use OsmAnd and downloaded NSW and Vic maps.

That's a proper adventure. I had one similar the other day. Took my cb500x to a known to me destination but an unknown to me route. When the dirt road got worse and went through a rain forest I wish I had better tyres. But all in all was a good experience. Glad you made it in one piece.

Thank you! Definitely more adventure than I wanted, but I suppose that's what makes it an adventure. CB500X is a great bike, I had one before. Still miss it, Honda makes a very solid bike.

@@australianadv I am working towards a 900 rally pro. I haven't even sat on one yet but something about them just excites me lol. I'm currently on red p's so the cb500x is lams approved and all I need for now. It's annoying doing the L and P plate thing again almost 15 years later.

I can relate to the wrong turn scenario, been there,,, And you want to go quicker to make up the lost time but you dont know the road well enough, If it wasnt so cold maybe a pull over and camp out situation may have been good and reevaluate in the morning, Looking forward to next episode

Definitely have to fight the urge to go quicker. I figured it didn't matter how long it took, the only real disaster would be a spill. Live and learn!

Stockroute spur is steep and gnarly, climbed it on loaded Dr 650, if not short geared would have stalled or burnt out clutch. Good work on big bike, that road from dogs grave to Dargo is scary when rain falling.

We also had a nightmare navigation into Dargo at night on the last trip, google maps f#$d us too After re watching, that's the exact same route we got done over with also, cattle everywhere, roads that's didn't exist on the ground but did on maps, was a stuff around 😂 love google maps

Lol I’m glad it’s not just me. I checked again and google just prefers the mountain rather than the town when you search for “Dargo”. Hope you got through ok

Great video and trip. I also have a Tiger 900 Rally Pro, 2021 model, I love the bike, expect for the lights. My lights are nowhere near your brightness, in fact it I would not dare to attempt your ride at night. Are your lights standard factory? I notice your bike is a later model, has there been a upgrade?

Yep they’re standard lights. Not sure if there was a change between 2021 and 2022 models. It might be adjustment issue? Maybe yours are pointing too low?

Wow! Proper adventure, dude. I'm well impressed with the lights. Was that with the aux lights on as well? Am wondering as I read somewhere that you can't use head & aux lights together (which seems really odd as I can imagine you'll need more lights, depending on the circumstances). We'll impressed with level of trip planning as well. Great vids. Cheers for the content.

Thanks mate, really appreciate the comments. It was with all the lights on, the auxiliary lights as well as the main lights and high beam. You can definitely have them all at once. The aux lights are perfect for exactly this situation because they show quite a lot up the sides and fill out the ground directly in front of the bike. Next rainy weekend I might do a short vid cycling through the various features if it would be useful

Yeah. That would be good. My RP arrives 27th of this month but winter here so will likely throw off the amount of riding I was planning. As for light, yes! Have wide beam LED bar on my work Hilux for driving across farm land (I work in telecoms) and the infill they provide around the vehicle is amazing! Looking forward to the next vid.

Don't think it's dust, they've been squeaking since I got the bike. Pretty sure it's common for the Tiger 900.

@@australianadv that’s a bit unfortunate. The pads aren’t touching the rotors when you roll it back & forward by hand? I’ve a car doing the same. Drives me nuts.

@@steve.afendoulis Nope, it seems smooth. Only the back brake does it, and I've had a few other Tiger 900 owners report the same thing.
