Let me tell you ladies, I am so happy you opened the pod on this topic. I am 37 weeks pregnant currently, my husband and I were actively trying to make a baby. I had my calendar, charts, we timed everything down to the day, I was LOOKING for pregnancy symptoms and still didn't catch it until past 4 weeks with a pee test. If I hadn't been paying attention, I wouldn't have observed a difference in myself for weeks. I would have been well outside of the window for an abortion in TX. It's a joke to say that 6 weeks is sufficient time, they just chose that number because that's around when the fetal heart starts beating. No child should be born to a parent who does not want them. I adore children, my own daughter will be born any day now, and I am firmly pro-choice. It was my CHOICE to be a mother when I was ready. We should all get that choice.

@@ZaphodTHEBeeblebrox Not true. In 1955 abortion was decriminalized again. You could have it but only in a medical setting. In a hospital. Also Stalin didn't decide laws like that himself since he was merely a member of the central committee and a spokesperson, not a leader. It was the collective decision of many dumbasses, not just him. There was also no religious reason. Stalin was agnostic. He supported churches and religion for awhile for diplomatic reasons, not because he believed in God himself. He tried to win political support of religious areas and people. They were also one of the first countries in the world to legalize abortion in the 1920 despite politicians frowning upon it. Then they were idiots for awhile when they tried to encourage big families and criminalized abortion again, and then decriminalized it in 1955.

Trixie and Katya are such a breath of fresh air. I wish all men were like them. Vasectomies are so much less invasive of a procedure than getting your tubes tied. And yet no man would ever get a vasectomy for the wellbeing of their partner. I'm so glad Katya Brian would get one if he was a straight man. No only because he doesn't want children but also because he cares about women. I also think that Trixie is greatly underestimating how many young people are also conservative. Trixie thinks these were all old men who decided on this. Sadly that's not true. People of all ages, even young ones have backwards views on women't reproductive health. Waiting for those old men to die will not solve anything unfortunately. Especially people in the countryside, it's like the Middle Ages basically.

Our attitudes about women's reproductive health are so medieval. I just think the whole topic turns off the rational parts of so many people's brains - anything about motherhood, female sexual "mysteries" - people go bonkers. That's why I think demystifying the female body and experience is so important, and talking to each other...Society is far more afraid of us than we know. At least that's my theory for the moment.

Birth control litterally fucked up my life. It caused debilitating depression and panic attacks. Even though this all started almost exactly when I started BC I didnt put the two together simple due to lack of education. I was 18 but and was never taught anything about hormones or how oral contraception works. I had to drop out of college and went thru so much mental anguish, I shudder ro think about it. Then I tried an IUD and ended up in the hospital from hemorrhaging periods. I think all men should get vasectomies and when THEY are ready to have babies, then get it reversed. So sick of the responsibility being put on the female. And every man just assumes ur on the pill... And then the look of disappointment when you ask them to throw on a condom... like "aw man I thought u were gna be fun".
@w.lester255

@@doeeyes2 I don't know as much as I should about vasectomies but if it is as simple as that, that is a great point. Or even if vasectomies per se aren't the exact solution - there's got to be a better one with minimal suffering for all parties involved and options involving men need to be considered. I've never been on birth control but I think the fact that that type of experience you had is so widespread is not acceptable considering the sophistication of medical science in other areas. I get the impression at least half of women who take birth control feel fucked up in some way due to the nature of the drug, that's why I say it's widespread. I've heard it makes you want to overeat and, as I understand it, can lower your sex drive - since it's about convincing your body that you're pregnant. Also, hysterectomies are no joke - the ovaries have a wide-reaching function in the body and removing them is very traumatic. But another major problem I've heard about is doctors refusing to give hysterectomies out of a misplaced desire to preserve the reproductive abilities, when a woman is suffering from a painful disorder for which the only known solution is hysterectomy. There's even often a suggestion that she have a baby to deal with the condition. Sorry, WHAT CENTURY ARE WE LIVING IN??? 🤬

I was literally crediting If The Walls Could Talk with my stance on abortion last week. Seeing Demi Moore bleed to death in her living room at a young age really drove home for me exactly what they were saying at the beginning - banning abortion doesn't prevent abortions, it just means more people will die having back alley ones. America has entered the Handmaid's Tale prequel timeline. Edit: HAND MAIDEN TYPE OF VALUES 💀💀💀

Just an FYI- you are not even pregnant for the first 2 weeks of "6 weeks of pregnancy". You pregnancy STARTS at the date of your last period (its weird). Also a pregnancy test wont show positive for another 2 weeks after conception meaning you are at MINIMUM 4 weeks by the time you even find out- and the women who find out that early are TRYING to conceive. You don't miss your period until 5 weeks, so if you weren't actively trying you wouldnt find out until 5 weeks or after, so BASICALLY its an impossible situation.

It’s not “weird” it’s just “gestation” BC that’s how long the uterine lining has been developing there. But yes everything UOU said is correct. When you are 2 weeks post conception, you are usually 4 weeks along in gestation.

And there are so many women who don't have regular periods, or for whom "regular" still isn't exactly each month. I know many women whose periods can be separated by over a month and it's completely normal. I suspect that's a pretty common experience, too, but that's only my assumption.

ontop of all that, how fricken difficult is it to get an appointment that moment ??? i felt sick at 5 weeks couldnt get an apt till a week later (I was LUCKY) confirmed pregnancy at 6 weeks thankfully was able to decide & take right then & there abortion medication. Not a light decision to make so rapidly but it's terrible to think this will be basically impossible if abortion does get banned.

Anti-abortionists say fetus but what they have always been referring to is the control over peoples lives. If a persons abortion is dangerous it is between a them and their doctor, not the state court or Supreme Court. It is a safe procedure that has existed for a long time and no man or woman should impede a persons relationship to their healthcare.
