For those new to Tropico who are thinking about buying it: -City sim with a political/rpg aspect to it. Make Tropico a utopian dream for your citizens or make a dystopian nightmare where they wish they'd never lived to begin with. -If you're in it for a large color pallet and good visuals, this is does not offer that. It's a city sim. -UI may seem to be clunky but most things are no more than a click (or two) away. It's actually very clean and simple. -Very easy to get into. -Not a micromanagement game, though you can't completely for get your responsibilities as El Presidente. -Good replay value. My personal take on this game is that it is a very good game if you're looking for a city sim that's less dry and mundane. You've got factions within your island who all want different things as well as major political forces. You can choose how much each person earns in their job, you can bribe, disgrace, imprison or assassinate your citizens, choose their living conditions, make everything more (in)expensive, pass laws such as contraception banning, social security, Tax cuts, wealth tax, prohibition, mardi gras, etc, etc, etc). Don't let me start on the constitution! You can ammend the constitution! You can dictate how long your people have to work, religion, who is forced to help the military, how the market works, how the news works, how... - wait.. - right.... all I want to say is you should get this game. Is it worth 60 bucks? I don't think so, but I'd think about buying it at 40, and 30 would be a price I would definitely get it for.

Tropico 6 kept the good inventions of 5 while bringing back some stuff i missed from 4 imo

I just want a Tropico game where military management actually matters. So far, just having a few soldiers is enough to beat any attempt at a coup by your opponents... "meh"

They just put it in Game Pass, so I'm seeing if it deserves the time

The Tropico series has sneakily become one of my most played series. I've already thrown many hours into Tropico 6 and so far so good :)

In terms of humor, voice acting and gameplay mechanics, I still think that Tropico 4 is the best one.

One thing that make me love tropico is the music, the vibes, and the beautiful landscape.

The main change in graphics was in Art Style as opposed to pure quality

I love being able to guess who’s gunna be doing the BYB just based off the game title, as soon as I saw Tropico 6 I knew my man FALCOOOOONNN would be handling this one. Gotta love all their different personalities and how they compliment each other and makes this channel feel different all the time

Gameranx, Please do a before you buy on Outward. The game is looking phenomenal from a small studio of 10 developers.

Having played and ran into a few roadlocks in 5, I enjoyed it a lot and am thinking of getting 6. Thank god there's multiple islands, given that I recall a few missions ending just in the nick of time because I didn't have space for what was needed. I think something that'd be interesting would have been news bulletins or portraits for each event. Mostly for the humor of showing their independence and the photos being your Presidente, the fight, then some comedy ones involving Penultimo and other close allies. Like him taking one as a selfie and accidentally obscuring your allied politician(partly to cover up so they wouldn't have to make multiple versions of the same photo)

Not a series I have played yet, I bought 4 some time ago as I want a slightly different take on a city builder. While I have yet to get stuck into it, the Complete Edition of 5 is on Humble right now for a little over £8. I snapped it up and its really quite fun. Honestly I feel there is little to no difference from what I've seen of 5 and 6, most recently via Many A True Nerd , so I'm happy with 5. I don't feel I'm missing out on anything drastic from 6.

I'm glad this is on consoles as well. It's a nice change of pace from their countless amounts of third person action adventure with stealth elements.

i actually think that its kind of cool how the buildings now look to size, in previous games the buildings where kind of small or just didnt had the size of a normal building, but now they look to size its not really important but i tought it was funny since i have before tought about how weird it was that the buildings in Tropico 5 and 4 were very weird in size and shape.

I toured Limbic entertainment as part of a class trip to Frankfurt. This review of the game sums up my take away from the company. They're not big. They outsource when they can. Their history is as a support developer for the might and magic games. This is not to say they are a bad studio, I think they are a small studio taking on their first non-support role of a major ip. They are doing their best.

The Tropico series remains one of my all time favorites. My only gripe with 6 is I wish it was a little harder. But overall I remain loving the humor, the era progression, and the strange logical truth it has behind how real world revolutionaries, dictator, and running a carribean island from the colonial to the present era works. Also, the graphics do change throughout eras since buildings, roads, etc. change. Especially in the modern era in the game ‼️

I just want remake, reboot, or sequel to tropico 2: pirates cove. That was my jam.

I loved Sim City games. Especially the SNES one and SimCity 3000 on PC. Would I like Tropico if I like Sim City? Never played any Tropico.

I dropped out of Tropico after 3, when 4 looked like a $60 expansion of 3. This looks like they've gotten a lot done since then. I think I'll be open to pick this up if given the chance

I been playing tropico since it's origin. Though it did take me a while to get adjusted to it's becoming more SIM like over time. Graphically speaking. I didn't like some of newer versions for a while. I tried 5 but it didn't feel quite right...just yet lol. I gave 6 a chance..i feel I like it more than 5. It felt a lot like 5 but less clunky. I really like being able to follow individual NPCs around I only recently really started playing sims. I played the OG in grade school.

Hey, I bought Tropico 4 back in the day with the modern times dlc. I enjoyed it a lot and I am unsure whether to get this one as I have heard that Tropico 5 made many changes to the series.

The issue I have with the new Tropico is the citizens approval drops way too easily even if you have a strong economy, low taxes, and buildings not set to modes that effect them negatively. Regardless of whether you are playing a evil dictator or a benevolent ruler there very few ways to deal with this and often access is locked to methods you can use by time period or whatever. Whatever happened to a dictator sending out a bit of his boys to rough voters up. The bribery mechanics are a joke and you have every superpower/faction giving you a dozen tasks at once. The game is decent but there are times the game is outright frustrating and demanding which takes away a lot of the fun. You spend more time multitasking and micromanaging than being a dictator. Good game but AI and mechanics need serious work.

Holy shit man I have been playing this game for a little bit and I honestly did not know it wasnt the previous developer it honestly feels super true to tropico 5. Its got some good humor as I would expect as well and mechanically feels the same Im enjoying it, provided you like tropico's you will dig this if not then prob not :)

I like it, but the biggest turn off for me is the islands and plantations. I always wanted to connect archipelagos, but with the plantations still taking so much land it kinda urkes me because it bothers me to restrict it's full potential. It's just a personal OCD thing, but other then that I love it.

Game is awesome But at some points it turns into "docks manager" simulator Only thing you are doing is watching prices and demands for goods in docks Which is superboring

I really like Tropico 6. I feel like it's the first one worth bothering with since 3. 5 I played a bit but it felt a bit lacking.

One of the things that is missing is the "Social Security" edict which gives students and retirees a little money for food and housing. Otherwise you have to have free housing for everyone if you don't want them to live in shacks. Or you have certain housing units on low budget that are free, but non-broke people will take up your 'retirement homes' or 'student housing'.

hard core tropico fans will remember how simple but tasty the graphics were for the first two games, but how fucking hard it was to make the original blessed folk of topico happy, stable and satisfied all at the same time. they would always either resist, rebel and revolt, again sometimes all three at the same time, giving you and raising hell constantly. you had to analyze, think, plan and execute. still with perfect planning there would be some mad shit happening and you had to execute 5 of your villagers cause through presidente's secret police you found out that they were organizing into a armed terorrist group planning to overthrow presidente. the choice of music was always legendarily enjoyable for every game even got a pirate themed touch on the second one. in time and since the third game, gamplay have shifted into a more chilled out, funny, easyplay tone and the style got more eyecandy, a more cartoonish goofy storytelling. graphics didn't matter too much, all were ok. the game got easier and easier by the 5th one, it turned into a walk in the park. anyway, till the 6th game, i thought they somehow managed to preserve the tropico essence and made nice games overall. this one, i'm still yet to play. we'll see. different developer kinda makes me itch. lol. cya.
