Thanks David! I used this video and fixed my Maytag Neptune dryer. My symptoms were slightly different as my igniter would glow but I had no gas ignition at all! One gas valve coil tested OK with around 1200 ohms but I had an open circuit on the other. Change both coils and my wife is sooo happy! Great helpful video!

Followed it step by step and finally decided it had to be either the ignitor or the coils. Bought both on Amazon and $20 and 20 minutes it was fixed. Thanks

I have the same dryer and genuinely appreciate you sharing your troubleshooting skills here. VERY well done David. Did this fix your problem with your dryer? I can do this myself if you can tell me if this was the problem for sure. I was looking at buying a new washer and dryer set because of this one problem. I had an appliance tech out who charged me $135 to tell me that my dryer vent is clogged. After I has another guy clean my dryer vent, it's still taking 2 hours to dry a load of towels. I can't continue to nickel & dime this problem. I'm hoping that it fixed your problem so I can apply this information to my own. Thank you so much David!

It would help if you would identify that this is a Gas dryer we have low heat so it won't dry for hours but it is an electric Neptune.

You said the high limit thermostat should read at or close to zero. I'm getting a 1.6 reading. Is this enough to indicate that this part is bad? thx.

David can you tell me what that Black control with the 2 red wires is I tried getting that part but cant its next to the cycling thermostat.

David, I replaced both coils and when I turned the power back on I received an 88 code and nothing works now. Is there a fix i can do or a reset I need to make?

David I've been told that Thermistor 8577274 will fit my maytag dryer MDE5500AYW do you know if it will whirlpool doesn't make the Thermistor that is there 3072080
