Another great video! Thanks for delving into the details of the set. I’d love to hear the banter on set, the things you do or say to the baby to get their attention and to smile (if possible).
@troutmanphoto2 жыл бұрын
I wish I had a million-dollar answer for that question about the banter but the truth is my go-to...fart noises. Blow a bunch of raspberries at your subjects! They think it's hilarious. Mix it up with some peekaboo and then finish the whole thing off with the old blanket on the photographer's head trick. BTW This also works on real estate agents during a headshot session! Just saying.

I do alot of sports photography but, so badly want to get into cake smash photography. Finding you and this site i think will be a huge game changer. My question is do you shoot in live view and thru the view finder. I struggle so with live view.
@troutmanphoto8 ай бұрын
Kathleen thank you for the comment. I mainly shoot through the viewfinder because live view wasn't around while I was learning. But a few years back, I switched from Cannon to Sony and found that using the back screen during a smash cake session was so much fun. But it really depends on what I'm shooting. For example, I would never use the back screen for sports. Thanks for checking out my videos and feel free to hit me up again if you have any more questions.
@kathleendolan18428 ай бұрын
I have never attempted live view for sports. I shoot canon and have tried live for some practice modeling session and I cant seem to get the focus right. Its all over the place. Is there a certain setting i am suppose to chose.@@troutmanphoto
@troutmanphoto8 ай бұрын
@kathleendolan1842 I really can't speak to Cannon cameras. The last Cannon I used was the 5dm3. I'm sure alot has changed since then.

Excellent job!! I'm from san diego CA. Do you have a guide how to pricing this? Do you go to customers house?? Do you provide the clothes?
@troutmanphoto2 жыл бұрын
All of those are excellent questions. As far as pricing goes that is my wife's side of the business. She does have a guideline for pricing and she will be teaching that on our channel in the future. At the moment I'm having a hard time getting her in front of a camera. So be patient and eventually I will be able to get her to teach all of you guys her strategies on pricing. 😀 We have from time to time gone to the customer's home but we do find it easier to have customers come to us because that's where all of our props and lighting equipment are. We used to drag all that stuff to the clients home but inevitably we would always forget something and it just became easier to have them come to us. When it comes to clothes we always have an outfit on hand. Even if the parents have already purchased something and they want to use that, they rarely try it on their child and make sure that it fits. So the day of the shoot you end up with an outfit that won't work so for that reason we always order an outfit of our own, if not two. If you don't use them just send them back to Amazon or keep them for future shoots. All of those are excellent questions. I will definitely be doing a video that touches on each one of those topics you just mentioned. So thank you very much for the new video ideas! I hope you have a great day, Daniel

Hi! Have you ever use the clear vinyl floor to reflect your subjects? Ive see a few videos and photoshoots where they are using this and looks super cute. Please advice, some use plexiglass sheets. TIA
@troutmanphoto2 жыл бұрын
We've used plexiglass sheets in the past but unfortunately when you smear buttercream frosting all over them they get really slick. We've been concerned at times that it was unsafe for the babies.

Hi how's tamron 28-75 lens... looking forward to buy for my sony camera. Did u take wide shots with it?
@troutmanphoto Жыл бұрын
I love the Tamron 28-75 f2.8. It's an absolute work horse of a lens. The ability to take wide shots and then zoom all the way in to grab close up portraits without having to change lenses is amazing. But there is one thing you should watch out for. It's a wide angle lens and if you get to close to your subject it will distort them a little bit. So just remember to stand back from your subject and you'll be fine.
